Cal, yay, Dennis is coming! Finally!  That was a funny Hyacinth episode. I thought the look that Richard and Onslow made to each other when Hyacinth told them that Sheridan needed money to buy material so he and Tarquin could make curtains for their apartment was so funny! Tarquin could embroider, too! Lol! I would bet that if you are ever stung again you wouldn't hesitate to jab yourself with the epi pen! You instincts would take over!  Nice pic of all 3 bears. Hard to believe that Tasha has been there 96 days! Great pics of the birds, too. Hope that all the Bears are safe in their dens and that Sven is out there somewhere safe. Why someone would kill a young bear is beyond me. Polly will love her bobble head! I always wanted a Beatle bobble head! Lol!

Jp, looks like a lot of rain! Is it expected to last long or pass by quickly? We got a little rain last night less than a half inch. But today the humidity and temps are very nice! I have my back door open! Guy looks like the kindest bear.

Nora,  if Molly refuses to eat, all Crow will have to do is give her an Oreo cookie! She never turns them down! Lol! If you sent me this nice weather today...thank you!

Eaglette, thanks for the epi pen info!

Out mowing and came in for a sandwich and to get a lighter shirt on.  It's breezy, sunny, and 71.  The humidity is down too.

Dang on the screen.  Do guys (sorry JP) think women don't know what they're talking about or is it because they believe they are dumb and don't know how to do things so we're telling them?  Joe, since restrictions were lifted, insisted he wanted to mow part of the yard.  I gave him a talking to and said "I'm not trying to mother you or anything else, but it it bothers you AT ALL that's enough.  You don't want to undo anything in your shoulder after getting this far.  I was sitting on the front porch with Chester after I got back from topping off the gas can and he mowed the boulevard.  I could tell he wasn't real happy out there, but he got the boulevard done and I didn't say a word other than it came out good and he said he that was it for the day.  Couldn't tell me it bothered him even though I tell watching him.  MEN!  Sorry again JP, not all men, just the one a gal is married to or living with.  ;)

Good going on the bobble head Cal.

Aww Guy's nose is all wet.  The rest of him looks pretty good though.

JP do you have your kayak all ready to go in case you get a LOT of that rain?  Be sure to take some flares in case you float out into the gulf, we don't want to lose you!!

That's neat Tasha wanted Holly to play.  It sounds like Tasha is curious about Ted too.  A father figure?   :D

Poor Sven if he's was killed.  Oh my, they have a bear called Spot?  :D

Hi Rues, you're welcome on the weather.  SOMETIMES it works.

Wow your guy came for your generator work Cal!!  Thumbs up!  Something didn't happen to Corey Dog did it???  Although I'm sure I would have found something like that going back in the posts.   ???

Later, better get back outside.

It is my understanding that when a team is behind by a score that a touchdown would win for them, and when they have possession with only enough time for one play, they  can throw a long pass into the end zone and pray that one of their players catches the ball amidst a mass of players from  both teams.  This is the "Hail Mary" as they are praying for divine intervention.

Kimani and her cubs.  I do not believe she is a Shadow descendant as I can not find her in my list.  She comes around the WRI periodically.

The rain has eased off so my spiirits hae become better. It is funny how a gray  dismal day an dampen those.

Feeling good myself, I h ope all of you are, too.

Daily Updates
Lily, Ember, Tasha, Holly, Samantha, Kimani - UPDATE September 11, 2016
11 September 2016
Print Email
At 4:20 AM, I arrived to find 2 mothers and 6 cubs intermingling with no mean faces or bad words. When the mothers, Samantha and Kimani (not related) moved off, they went together as if friends. Samantha's female cub
Samantha's female cub
Samantha quickly returned. One of Kimani?s cubs came up and sniffed her. Samantha gave no heed. All peaceful.

Samantha's cubs
But Lily fans remember June chasing Lily shortly after family break-up in the Bearwalker documentary in 2008. This summer, Fern and cubs had to stay up a tree when Fern?s mother Jewel and cubs were present at their shared feeding station. We remember June and Hazel, each with cubs, vocalizing anxiety to each other as they tried to rest separately in the same patch of forest in 2007. That?s why it was a surprise to see Samantha and Kimani getting along so peacefully. Interesting. A data point that tells us how they all have different personalities and form personal alliances that a person can?t always predict.

Holly Later, a couple of Samantha?s four cubs (a female and a male) posed for pictures high in a white pine. The female was out on a limb, so to speak, and her brother was more of a tree-hugger by the trunk.

At the Bear Center, Tasha and Holly shared Tasha?s enclosure and looked like they were enjoying each other?s company. According to Curator Sharon Herrell: ?Tasha and Holly played in Tasha's den. Holly played with the ball and pink duck. I think she may be just a bit jealous, but that's my own thought. Tasha made a brief appearance near the high falls but didn't come down. Ted enjoyed an enrichment tire and Holly enjoyed the tube. It was interesting to see how cautious Holly was with Ted. It's the same as Tasha being cautious of Lucky and Holly. Earlier in the day as we were walking the fence, Holly appeared in her den area. She was calm and posed for picture taking. Lucky just wants to eat.?

Then we checked the trail cam where Lily and Ember have been seen so regularly before yesterday. They both came again during the night. I wish we had radio-collars on them to learn what they are doing. Lily is most certainly pregnant and due to den early. Ember, June?s daughter who was orphaned when the DNR, a resident, and a hunter conspired to kill her when the DNR was under orders from Judge John Guthman to discourage hunters from killing radio-collared bears to prevent the DNR from circumventing the upcoming court hearing by simply killing our top study bears. That means Ember had a rough start in life but has done well, thanks to supplemental food from the community, and could also have cubs in January at the age of 3. Lily, of course, will be 9, if you can believe it. How quickly the years have passed since 2010. The pictures aren?t good enough to see dirt in their fur as a clue to den-digging. We remember Blackheart making a den in the fall of 1999 and continuing to visit a community feeding station a mile away for another 4 days before settling in. Then there is June who made a den already on July 19, 2004 to use that fall and give birth to her first litter (Pete and George) that January.

Thank you for all you do.

Good morning everyone! :)

Be sure and check out my post on my thread under "Bird News" called Chippewa Eagles and Decorah Eagles!  I follow a nest at home and also the Decorah Eagles. I post updates of my visits to Decorah and of my home town eagles and also pictures of them both! ;)  Amy will be moving my thread under a different subject soon and I will let you know when it gets moved!  I also have opened a online store and part of the proceeds from the sell of my Decorah pictures will be donated to The Raptor Resource Project.

Hope you all have a great day!

I was going to ask if Kimani is a younger bear looking at those huge feet and ears, but if those are her cubs I guess she's all grown up. I love her name.

Oh good on Corey Dog Cal, I didn't know your friend didn't know the story.  So Corey died or had to go elsewhere and Corey Dog was just left there and showed up?  I guess I wasn't too sure either, just remember you ending up with him.

Glad you're feeling good JP!  Yes sun can really make a difference.

I wonder if Kimani was an orphaned cub at one time and Samantha sort of adopted her  ???
