My cat started in 4:33!

Hi obsver! Now you know almost always the book better than the movie and same with harry potter. they did a great job with movies but the book was still better. i loved everyone of them. read the book then saw the movie. jim and i just got done mowing around the house. i mowed the dogs again. just the pasture left and it is not that bad and i can't believe it but they were out in it! i am sure they are back in the barn by now. jim had an ac call i was in my bathroom cleaning up and feeding the mom cat and kittens he came in to see them and mom cat flipped out! hid in my tub. babies were in the carrier i got out my little leader the light color one she is a darlin. but she was scared of jim but he said oh they are really little she is really pretty. yes jim she is. i hope he gets that propane generator. take a lot of worry off me.

Wow Dee, the Atlanta pandas are going on THREE!  You bet time flies.  How neat the kids ran across that scooter for you!  The shore view in Estonia was gorgeous.  I just love Bei Bei.

Rues -- can't get freon?  Then how do they recharge the car A/Cs?  Not really asking you, just spouting off.

No bad storms yesterday.  One came through late evening and didn't last super long, no bad winds, some lightning and thunder, but it POURED.  Ended up with an inch of rain out of it.  It's 84 and they say the dew point is down to 52 and humidity 34%, but sure doesn't feel that way out.  I should make some tuna salad.

Glad you're making headway with mama and the kittens Cal.

cal, the Marlins just won 3 of 4 games against the Cubs.  They are now tied with the Mets for 2nd in the NL East, 2.5 games behind the Nationals.  They have a day off and then play two games in Detroit.  They are 41-35 for the year.

Hello Jewelies.

It's been about week without my Forum fix.  I just read back the three pages of chats from all of you.  Wow, what a week for some of you.  I was helping my folks at their house and forgot my password to get into the Forum, nor did I take my laptop with me.  I hate that about getting older, forgetting things.

Back when I posted that image of hydration, I saw the post from the weather channel about the impending heatwave.  I am glad you and your pets/livestock survived the "hell on earth" experience.  I kept giving the bird bath at my folks fresh cold water.  Mostly crows come to it, but they needed cooling down too.  I even sprayed some water into the tops of a tree and watched all the hummingbirds come out to take in the communal bath and cool down.  Told my daughter to not let her doxie walk on the pavement outside, better carry her to some grass and let her do her stuff.   Since returning last night, the doxie has been my shadow.  ;-)

I am nursing a really bad headache, that I know is trying to blow up into a migraine.  I just hate when that happens.  I was watching Jeopardy Friday night and they had this young man that was a super genius at guessing the phrases.  Sometimes there were just one or two letters up.  I don't know how he did it.  Maybe he is a Savant.  I cannot recall his name, but his Mom and Dad and a friend were in the audience.  He guessed the final prize and won an additional $40,000.  His folks were so proud of him.

I don't have any TV service at my house.  I got rid of it over a year ago, might be two years already.  I really have not missed it at all.  When I want to watch a sporting event, I go to one of the many eateries nearby and grab a bit to eat and drink, watch it there.  If they don't have it on the TV, I ask them to find it and they always put it on for me.  (you gotta ask nicely and treat the wait staff with respect.  works every time.)  I consider myself to be open minded, but the TV shows that are being produced have too much trashy talk or trashy innuendos for my liking.  I don't want to want to watch that on broadcast TV.  And do not get me started on these "reality" shows.  They are just a bunch of narcissistic folks producing more trash!  I remember watching Lucy and Desi sleeping in separate twin beds, for goodness sake.  I do enjoy watching some of the BBC shows that you ladies are watching too.  End of that rant.   :o

Okay Jewelies.  I have to give this brain some relaxation.  I sure hope you all have a Sunday.  Cal, if I win the PCH sweeps on 6/30/16, I am buying you a new barn with a/c and automated pooper scooper built into the floor system.  All running on Solar and/or wind power; so you can afford to use it too.  And those kitties are going to get kitty walkways built up high around the barn, so they don't need to hide in them hay bales anymore.

JP, my Angels are 31-44, 5th in American League West.  They are playing Oakland and it does not look good for the Angels.
my Dodgers are 41-35, 2nd in National League West.  They are getting ready to play the Pirates today.  keeping my fingers crossed!

Peace and love to all.  Eaglette.

Faith

I have no excuse for oversleeping this morning.  I went to bed early and slept soundly.  What woke me up was the telephone ringing.  Some unknown name , unknown number.  Obviously a telemarketer.

I wish al of you  a day you find pleasant and worthwhile.

Daily Updates
Spider Excitement, Tasha, Lucky - UPDATE June 26, 2016
26 June 2016
Print Email
Yesterday the interns found a big spider behind the aquarium and put it in a viewing box. We think it is a striped fishing spider but are emailing the author of ?Spiders of the Northwoods? to be sure. Spider
Spider
Late afternoon yesterday, the spider had not begun making a web. Actually, I didn?t know fishing spiders made webs, but it was just enough of a web to hold the egg sac that an intern discovered this morning as the spider was laying eggs in it. Then the mother added webbing to cover the eggs as the staff captured in this video https://youtu.be/lFHJduKu5fU. I didn?t realize they added many strands of webbing at once.

Carrying egg sac
Carrying egg sac
This afternoon, the mother cut the egg sac free from the web and began carrying it in her mandibles as shown in one of the pictures. Does the fact that she is carrying the egg sac in her mandibles mean she will not eat until the eggs hatch? How long will that be? She ate a cricket yesterday when they first put her in the viewing box. She will have crickets with her constantly to see if she eats any. None of us has ever witnessed anything like this. It?s fascinating to some and eerie to others. We?ll be capturing videos and pictures. We?re looking for more information on striped fishing spiders to know better what to look for.

Tasha, meanwhile, played with her red toy while Lucky tried to grab his yellow ducky through Tasha?s fence, as a Lily Fan captured at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFlMMdYT8D8.

Thank you for all you do.

Daily Updates
Ted, Picnic, A Milestone - UPDATE June 25, 2016
26 June 2016
Print Email
It was a good day for Ted. His outpouring of energy in the pool on this hot, humid day looked like fun, and he showed his enjoyment meeting people in the behind-the-scenes tours. 250,000
250,000
I got to do my own behind-the-scenes tour and spend some time with him. He is special. The staff tells me they are making plans to give Ted his own pools as soon as possible. Not a replacement for the big pool, a pool he can use as much as he wants until it is his turn for the big pool. https://youtu.be/HiQmHWIIAkk

A joy today was the annual Eagles Nest Community picnic and seeing so many people who make this nature-loving community so unique. It felt good to be among them.

Later in the day, we celebrated a milestone with a picture. Director Scott had fixed the air conditioning and doors of the Van to be ready for the Black Bear Field Courses that begin in about 3 weeks. Together, he and I have gotten the Van to the 250,000 mile mark and believe it will make 300,000.

Thank you for all you do.

" I remember watching Lucy and Desi sleeping in separate twin beds, for goodness sake. "  I remember the Lennon sisters standing behind fake bushes or a piano whenever one was pregnant too  :D

Awwww Faith.

Sounds like you're making kitten headway Cal.

OMG that spider!  I hope it was smaller than it looks!!!

The trouble with those calls, a lot of calls are by someone somehow connected to someone you actually deal with.  An now the dang political ones.  I made the mistake of answering one the other day and a gal said who was with and about winning a trip.  Would a mind answering a couple questions and put the automated thing on.  First question was if I lived in a household that made more than $50,000 a year.  When I said no I never got to hear question #2, it hung up on me.  :D :D :D

70's up here today, almost 80.  Supposed to be nice and cool tonight.

HI Jewelies!  We finally had a storm here today and got a little rain... seemed good not to have to water tonight.  Sounds like there's another storm getting close, so I'm going to cut this short. My laptop is on its last legs, I'm afraid.  Been having a lot of issues with it.  Hope it lasts longer, I don't have the extra money right now... especially after the vacation thing.  Today my air went out, too.  Guess we're having an epidemic around here.  It was screaming when it turned on this afternoon, so I called my air guy and he was on his way to Charleston and wouldn't be back till the end of the week.  So, I called my son-in-law, who knows another air guy... they came over and the fan housing bracket had broken off.  Luckily, it was early enough that he could get the parts and it's fixed.  Whew!  I don't know how I could stand this heat with just fans. I finished another book tonight....Plum Island by Nelson Demille... it was a murder mystery and good!  I've been reading everyone's posts and enjoy seeing so many faces, but I'm afraid of this thing, so I'm going to say hi to everyone and close down.  Take care!
