Hey, ra! Remember when you sent us a vacation of just your foot? Please send us one of your vacation face this time! Have fun, be safe!!!! Cal, it is so crazy that I need rain, and Texas has been hit so hard. Wish there was a way to spread it around so that everyone benefits.  Rues, are you still reading? I'm reading the newest one by David Baldacci. I think would crow would like him. I just got back from the lib. and brought the latest by Nevada Barr, Boar Island, and Lilac Girls by Martha Hall kelly. It's a book about women during World War 2 and sounds really, really good. Our grand is graduating tonight--can't believe it--the school is large, so commencement could take awhile. Jp, hope your test turns out ok. The heart sure make a weird Whacka Whacka sound during an echocardiogram.   I need to look back to see if it was one of those or an e k g that you were getting. Hi, nora, Dlong, bischue, Willi, neva, Eaglette, deb, chippy, pat!  I know that Texas would like to send me some rain. Feel so bad for all those people.

Oh joy, we made a Walmart trip today.   :-\  It's clouding up now, feels good, but I suppose we'll get that rain that's been heading this way.  Got the bird feeders filled up, watered the plants on the porch, and figured I'd check in.

Otherwise not much new.  JP I hope your echo went well even if just routine.

Hi Jewelies!  :)

Did you hear about the meteor/asteroid that fell onto Arizona around 4:00 am yesterday morning? My son has cameras outside his house and the whole sky & everything lit up when that thing passed by. It landed up north of Phoenix somewhere. Hopefully when you click on the picture it will take you to the short video.

This is Liam. My daughter took her other foster dog, Catrina, to her new family. The lady who started the rescue goes along sometimes when the dog goes to it's new family. So they delivered Catrina and on the way back she convinces Lara to take another foster! LOL, she had told me she wasn't going to because she is starting school again and they are also taking some vacations this summer. She is very weak when it comes to animals! Anyway, he is so cute and sweet and he is meeting some interested people tomorrow.

Here is Bei Bei doing his favorite thing.

This is Holly and Lucky last Sunday. I think they are getting leftover grapes off the ground.

I thought this was a cute picture of Ted that was posted on Facebook last week. He is so sweet!

It's hot here and I do not like the heat. I've been feeling crappy so not doing too much. I was going to try for the grocery store tomorrow, but I think I will just order from Hy-Vee and have it delivered. And I can stay inside with the A/C on!

Hi to JP, Cal, Ra, Rues, Obsver, Willi, Nora, Blschue, Pat, Eaglette, Chippy, Neva, Deb! Hope you all have a good night and a fine weekend.  :)

Well, crap, Jewelies.  I looked at the weather forecast for Indian Shores for the next week and guess what I saw... Thunderstorms EVERY SINGLE DAY!!  I am NOT going to travel 10 hours to sit and watch it rain all week.  We'd all kill each other!  lol  So, called the place, nope can't give your money back.  Well, now what?  My daughter's husband is supposed to remodel their bathroom while we're gone, so she has to go.  I said I'm not going to sit and watch the rain, I'm not staying home, I'll just pay for another place.  Gulp.  So, we started to look at weather forecasts for other places... even SC beaches.  We finally settled on a place in Panama City, FL.  It's supposed to be yucky Sunday and Monday, but not all week.  I found a condo that wasn't already rented starting tomorrow and the guy gave us a good deal, since it's short notice I guess better to give a deal than to have it empty for a week and not make anything.  I hope the weather is ok.  What an ordeal.  Now, I'm going to have to watch my pennies, big time!  Geez...

dlong... Liam is a nice looking boy!  It should be easy to find a home for him.  He's very cute!  Thanks for the pics... I tried to watch the video, but it froze my laptop up and I had to restart.  Don't want to take a chance... Looked like it was going to be a cool thing to see.  I guess today isn't my lucky day, huh?

cal... Yes, the girl is coming every day to feed the kits.  I told her to bang on the door to scare them away from the door!  lol  The graduation cap that Nicole decorated was pretty.  Bet she really misses her mom, especially on special occasions like this one.

obsver... I'd love to have some of that rain, too.  So dry here, supposed to be nice and dry here this coming week, so at least my grass won't grow much.  I'll see what I can do with my new phone and maybe send you guys a selfie or something.  I'll have my techie daughter with me to help.  lol

OK... Time to get some supper and do what I still can tonight.  At least, we won't have to drive so far now... only 7 hours, instead of 10.  Better!   :)

rues... What you doing?  Mowing grass?  Swimming in the pool?  Planting flowers?  How's Crow doing?

Hi cal!  Yup, it was a lot more... $1300!!  geez... I hope my daughter will drive the whole time, now just to make it up to me.  lol  I'll post to you after I get there.  Here is the link to the place... 21st floor!!

It doesn't look as pretty as the one in Indian Shores, but it'll have to do!  lol  Glad it's cooling off there now!

Hi Jewelies! Just finished the sequel to the first book I read. Didn't like it as much as the first, though. Now I have a headache. Forgot to make an eye doctor appointment today. It is hot and muggy outside. Off and on rain predicted for all weekend. It smells like fishing worms outside! Ewwww.

Ra, have a safe and fun vacation! It looks like a nice place to stay. We always wanted our rooms to be on the higher floors so we could sit on the balconies look out at the ocean. I've never been to the Gulf coast. The waters there look beautiful! Hope you have great weather!

Cal, how scary for Scootie and you! Hope Scootie is doing ok now. Molly and Boo had "words" with each other the other day! Boo is usually scared to death of her but not this time. He stood his ground! He was coming in the porch screen door while Molly wanted out. Normally he would have ran away and yielded to her but not this time! They both snarled at each other until I intervened! Whew. That could have gone bad! Molly was on Deramaxx for her arthritis but it made her shake or tremble! Vet said to stop using it. Right now she's not taking anything. Sounds  like the KS DMV is a nightmare! We used to always renew our tags by mail but then they opened an office in Parkersburg.  Then to help out the DMV, the courthouse now let's you renew there, too. The courthouse has a drive thru which really is nice!  How long is Jim in Cleveland? Didn't he get an expensive hamburger there once? Lol!

Jp, hoping your test today went well!

Obsver, wish you could get some rain! It's so sad about TX.

Nora, those bear slippers are so cute!

Dlong, Liam is a cutie! Omg, what a sweetie!  There is no way I could foster. I would have to keep everyone that came to my house!  I saw that flash in AZ on the news. My sis is leaving Monday for Phoenix. She'll be gone for 2 weeks. I get to babysit her house and kitty. Her cat, Shadow, hates me. He always slaps and hisses at me! Thanks for all pics! Still loving those pandas!

Need to take some Advil and go to bed! See you all tomorrow! Again, be careful and stay safe on your  trip, Ra! Have lots of fun and relax!

Yep, cal, I remember when you put a hat on ra's foot!   We're back from the grand's graduation, and now it's time for bed. Goodnight, all you wonderful  Jewelies!  Ra, hope you can relax and have fun. Bet you will.

Holly leating a pumpkin.

dlong, Quite a video.  Daylight in the middle of the night.  Great pix of all the critters as they area called in The Beverly Hillbillies.  I really  like LIam.

ra, sorry about the vacation rain problem and hope you have a good time in Panama City.  The place looks good.

My echo went all  right.  It was about the arteries in my legs.  I'll see the doctor on the 9th for a readout discussion.  Many years ago I had to get a stent in my right femoral artery and the doctor wanted to verify that it was still all right.

Happy Saturday thoughts to all Jewelies and other readers.

Daily Updates
Bears, Beavers, and Birds- UPDATE June 3, 2016
03 June 2016
Print Email
I?m still glowing after spending some treasured moments with Lily last evening. She doesn?t show any excitement about seeing me. I?m the one who is excited. She ignores me like a true research Ted with enrichment cube
Ted with enrichment cube
partner bear should. That?s what made her so valuable and could make her valuable in that way again. The fact that she goes about her life ignoring the observer, paying attention to tiny unidentified sounds and subtle scents while ignoring the person she considers inconsequential. She has no idea how big a window into black bear life she has provided. She has no idea how her trusting personality enabled people around the world to get the first glimpses into the undisturbed behaviors of denning bears. She has no idea how many people she brought together who love bears and appreciate how she let us learn more about them. She holds the most potential for teaching us about bears in the future.

At the Bear Center, Ted, Lucky, and Holly are active and having fun. Never a dull moment in their lives, and Lily Fans have been capturing the action.

Beaver   Beaver
Beaver in the pond

This day started wonderfully. Just after dawn, I noticed ripples at the beaver dam that is 30 yards from the WRI cabin. A beaver was working on it. We?ve been noticing Woods Lake coming up higher and higher. I walked down for a look, remembering a time some years ago when Donna and I were sitting perfectly still on the beaver dam and a beaver came up and began working on it not 5 feet from us. But the beaver today was well aware of me. It heard me coming through the trees and slapped its tail. He then swam back and forth watching me for a couple minutes until I left. This is a sight that early rising Black Bear Field Course participants have taken advantage of. Others have canoed along the shore watching beavers, muskrats, and mother ducks with young in the calm, quiet of the morning. But canoeists are torn because that is also a prime time to see bears and talk with Lily Fans they just met. Some nice bear pictures have been taken from the canoes, though, too.

Beaver   Evening grosbeak   Evening grosbeak

A beautiful bird has arrived?the first evening grosbeak I?ve seen this year.

I?m looking forward to the LilyPad Picnic coming up July 22-24. I know people are coming who don?t usually come. It?s always great to see everyone. For more information and to get tickets, goto www.lilypadpicnic.com and click on ?Tickets On Sale Now!? and it will redirect you to the order page. Seven weeks away.

Something new to see this summer at the Bear Center is in the works, but we?re cautiously waiting until everything is finalized to say it out loud.

Thank you for all you do.

Good morning jewelies! It is 63 here and it is raining but not hard and is stopping.woke up early at 3 am and saw on the world news ali has died. he was the greatest and he was beautiful. he was 74 i think. Love the pictures in the update. them fancy camera lens really catch a picture. that beaver is awesome and love the video of lucky and holly and ted is cute playing and swimming. i wonder what the surprise will be! another bear? that would be awesome. it would be awesome dr. rogers pulled that off with that pos dnr so not getting my hopes up.

Hi JP! Love the orange pumpkin against holly dark hair. I hope that stent is still doing okay. won't be long till we find out. Royals lost again to cleveland. sick of cleveland be happy when leave that crummy town! lol on your holy batman! pretty funny..

Hi Ra! wow 1300.00 that is a good chunk of change but man look at the place! Really cool place ra. now i am assuming you get that master suite with your own balcony! i am afraid of heights but i would concentrate on that view!! wow the beach is right down there!! got a full kitchen and all kinds of neat stuff around there!! you guys will have a blast. i hope your daughter does all the driving i sure would! be careful and lets us know when you get there okay. love that place!!

Hi Rues! i was so upset last night looking for keeping up and saw this other junk on aging backwards then remember oh it is friday! so hoping it is on tonight. dont forget to tell me what yours is i think it should be that mayor dress ball one. sorry it stinks where you are. jim is due back today. i hope he doesn't home when i am in my room watching keeping up. only get to see that show so much and then pledge junk again. you know. wow a drive thru license bureau..that is cool. kansas is a nightmare. i would be getting my in the mail but she is afraid of it getting lost in the mail or something and that could happen but still. they told her if had some in at 10 am her wait would of been much longer. maybe not at all cause they would be closing. kansas needs to fix that. have more places to get it. but lots of people over there. missy know the medicine ed was talking about for scootie. it is another seizure medicine that he will take along with his phenobarb. he is at the highest level of phenobarb she is going to tell pete monday. i might have to take the boy in there for that yearly test see where he is at on levels. last one his only bad result was his excessive belly fat. he still has that. everyone has that here. i put wiggies collar on drama yesterday now i can grab it. it fit too. little loose but fit. it is a mans belt. regular collars too small. i did not get an electric cattle prod cause that could really harm him. i am getting a wiffle ball bat. said it won't hurt them but makes alot of noise. if nothing else i will grab a kitchen chair and clobber him with that. it is like he out for scootie now at times and can not have that.
