Cal, yep, Hyacinth was going to the mayor's costume ball and Rose got engaged to Mr What's It! Lol! My PBS is starting pledge week again! Seems like they just had one.  Oh goody, it's starting to rain here. Suppose to have pop up showers all day. Hope Robin is having better weather up in the mountains. She is with friends at Ace Adventure at the New River Gorge this weekend. They all went there this time last year and had a really good time. They are staying in a beautiful log cabin. I heard on the news last night that Ali was very ill and all his family was with him. I sort of figured he was near the end. So sad.  I always enjoyed his poetry! As always, great pics from the bear update!

Jp, Crow has his annual appointment with his vascular doctor on Tuesday. He also has a stent in his leg. We used to walk around the neighborhood everyday until he started getting pains in his leg. Our family doctor sent him to the vascular Doctor and that's when they found a blockage. Really cute pic of Holly eating that pumpkin!

Ra, are you almost there?

Hi Jewelies!  We got here around 4 this afternoon, so we got settled in and then went to the beach.  The girls got to swim for awhile.  Way too many people in this area... It's like SC's Myrtle Beach.  Lots for the girls to do,but too many people for me.  Oh, well.  We'll know next time. lol My daughter did all the driving! Yay!  We're so far up that the helicopters that go by are at eye level!! lol  No bugs either!

cal... Last night Clemson played their first game of the baseball playoffs, and the final score was 24-10!! Looks more like a football score, doesn't it?  We a kid on the team who is supposed to be the best Freshman in the country.  He's had a lot of homers and last night had a grand slam.  His last name Beer... that's how I remember his name.  Hopefully, Clemson will get to go to the college world series this year.  This stupid laptop!  Now, the spacebar doesn't want to work.  I have to go back and fix almost every word I type.  I typed a whole sentence with no spaces and had to go back and fix it.  Something like you and your missing n. lol

Hi rues,JP,obsver,Nora,Eaglette,blschue,willi,dlong...hope I didn't leave anyone out. I'm tired and going to bed.  I'll check in tomorrow if I can.

Daily Updates
New Bear - UPDATE June 4, 2016
04 June 2016
Print Email
We feel safe sharing the news now. A new bear is coming in a couple days. When the State of Kentucky wondered what to do with her, they were referred to the North American Bear Center. We said, ?We?ll take her.?New bear at the NABC
New bear will soon arrive at the NABC

She is truly a black bear?even her face. She is not a replacement for Honey, who is irreplaceable. She is the opposite of Honey who had light fur and distinct facial markings. She will be easily recognizable among Ted, Lucky, and Holly. We have been trying to get another bear for several years.

Lucky has Holly. Will this bear befriend Ted? But old Ted could never keep up with her. How will Holly react to another female? We won?t know much right away because she will be in quarantine for awhile. We hope she will adapt to her keepers.

We don?t know a lot about her?not even her name. The man who raised her has no phone. We?ll have a naming contest after we know her personality a bit.

We know she was born in Kentucky. She is dark overall. She is a yearling with the long and lanky body of a two-year-old because she was fed all winter. She is said to have a sweet, gentle personality, and we are crossing our fingers that that is true. We?ll know more about her soon.

Thank you for all you do.

Lynn Rogers, Biologist, Wildlife Research Institute and North American Bear Center

Good Sunday morning Jewelies! It's raining again! I'm really getting tired of all this rain. Still smells like fishing worms outside! :o Next month when the rains are gone, we'll wish we had some! Rain that is, not fishing worms! Lol!

Ra, glad you made it safely and you didn't have to drive. I never have to drive on trips. Guess everyone thinks they drive better than me! I don't like crowds either! Have fun and pop in here if you get a chance!

Cal, yay, a new bear! And what a lucky bear to get to come to the bear center! Wonder what her story is. She looks sad in that enclosure. Forgot to tell you...Wednesday I was driving behind a red Ford Focus with MO tags! The funny thing about the car was it had white butterfly decals all over the passenger side from front to back! Couldn't see if the driver's side had them or not! Lol! Have you've seen that car before? Lol!
