Hi Jewelies!  We have some rain!  Yay!  lol

blschue... VERY cute video!  Thanks for sharing!

cal... I was surprised to see an all white crowd watching Rosetta sing in 1964!  Guess things were different in England than they were in the US at that time.  Cute dog in the shame!  lol  Glad you were able to rescue the little bird.  Is it still ok?  The ex is mad at our daughter because she didn't invite him to the grand's pageant and has been difficult ever since.  I told her I would have gladly given him my seat.  lol  You know I don't like pageants!  She had a very busy day that day and wouldn't have had time to go pick him up.  The biggest reason she didn't invite him was that he can't see much anymore and he wouldn't have been able to see her anyway.  She didn't tell him that, to spare his feelings.  He even has changed his will because of it.  What a jerk.  Her husband invited him, about a week ago, to the party last night, just to be nice, but the ex swears he wasn't invited until yesterday.  He showed up, ordered something off the menu, and left before our food was even cooked.  Didn't talk to hardly anyone, had an attitude, and we wished he hadn't even showed up.  I sure hope he doesn't call me about it... he'd get an earful!

Hi to all!  Hope you are all well and have a good day!

Hi, Jewelies! Cal, I finished the Sanford book. The last part was pretty intense. The author is so good at making you feel that you are right there, you just forget everything around you, bcause you are so intent on the story. Hope Scootie is feeling better and doesn't have anymore seizures--at least for a long, long, time. Rues, my daughter & grand are going to see my eastern daughter this summer, so I'm really hoping the whole check-in thing is straightened out by then. Before Robin travels, too!  I feel so bad for all the people who are missing their flights. I heard on the news this morning that tens of thousands have missed flights since the problems started. Ra, changing the will seems drastic. Maybe he really didn't and was just having a temper tantrum. Sounds like a pretty unpleasant situation for all of you. Are the grands very close to him? Tell him to call cal--Augie could talk to him, too! Hi, jp, bischue, Ea  glette, nora, Willi, neva, deb and anyone else posting here--or lurking.

cal... That's Big YES on not being married to anyone!!  lol  Going to stay that way, too!   ;D  Hope your barn dries out fast!

obsver... Yes, that's very drastic, but that's his way of doing things.  No, the grands aren't that close to him... they just put up with him.  The youngest one is pretty mad him now for making everyone uncomfortable last night.  I told her... "Now you understand why I'm not married to him, right?"   "yup."  Another life lesson...

Hi ALL!

"Doesn't seem to be so bad with football for some reason..."  Maybe because most football players have gone to college in the U.S. and are recruited from there?  Just a thought on it.  Although half of them that get interviewed sound like they've been hit in the head too many times.  Sorry, just my opinion.  " maybe cause don't really hear them talking just grunting and getting hit."  :D :D

Other than the FIL bringing up bear hunting it sounds like a real nice evening RA!

Cute with Holly holding the grapes in those huge paws JP.

It's 58 and sunny!  Got a long walk in and then at just about lunchtime we took Chester out to the walking trail, hadn't tried that before.  First dog I've had since moving here that actually walked and didn't drag me off.  Sometimes I really wonder just how old he is.  :-\

That dog in the dog shame is absolutely adorable!  Wonder if it's a mix or  ???  Just want to hug it.

Better finish eating and get to mowing.......

I just had a most interesting experience.  I got a call from myself on the telephone.  The phone rang, I looked at the caller ID and there was my name and my phone number.  Of course I did not answer because my mother told me not to talk to myself and I never have.

It took me 7:52 to think about what the dog said.  Do cats wag their tails?  I have never heard that term in relation to a cat's tail.  Their tails are very expressive of how they feel from angry to loving and all in between.

Hi Jp!  Yes, cats will wag their tail from side to side, but usually is NOT a good sign.  lol  They're irritated about something.  I've had that same call before!  How can they call you with your own number??  We've had a rash of scams around here lately... they call and tell you they are the IRS and you are going to be arrested if you don't pay your taxes immediately.  Amazingly... some people fall for it.

nora... Sometimes I wonder how some of the football players even get into college.  They don't even know how to talk intelligently!  Chester sounds like such a good boy!

cal... Good idea to send Augie!  lol

Jp, we got one of those calls today, too! Crow's name and our phone number appeared on caller ID! It has happened a couple times before. Never answered it so don't know who is on the other end. We also got the IRS call, too. We weren't home when that call came in so the idiot left a message. He spoke with a Middle Eastern accent and tried his best to scare us with jail time if we didn't send him money! Both of these scams seem to be making their rounds in our area. Nasty scammers.

Cal, glad the bird was ok! Suppose he was trying to get a drink? Or maybe a new flyer and couldn't judge his landing. I turned my furnace on yesterday!  :o We woke up to frost! :o Thankfully no plants were damaged from it. It broke the record for low temp for the day! Rained off and on yesterday and today! I saw on the weather map that it was coming from your direction! Tomorrow might get up to 60! Can't believe I've been wearing jeans and sweatshirts for the last week!  I'm glad everyone on Hyacinth's show speaks with a British accent, too! I love a British accent!

Ra, what a shame that the ex acted that way! Cutting his daughter out of his will...what an awful thing to do! Maybe he was just saying that to hurt your daughter's feelings. I hope he apologizes for his actions! I missed Blindspot last night so I'll catch up tomorrow. I watched Turn instead.  I know when a cat swishes it's tail you better watch out!  :D

Nora, I think you got one fine dog! I would love to have a dog I could walk with!

Obsver, you asked a while back if anyone watched Turn and I forgot to say yes, we do! I only wish, and I'm not a prude, that they would leave out the love scenes! I know they had sex way back then, but I don't think any of it is relevant to the plot! They could suggest it without showing it! Other than that, I like the show! Lol! We got our haircut today. Mine looks like it always does but Crow had Anne cut his different. She usually uses the clippers all over his head but today he had her use the clippers on the sides and back and use scissors to trim the hair on top. Now his hair looks like Gibbs on NCIS! I love it! Lol!

Eaglette, I agree with every thing you said!

Almost time for NCIS and Tony's departure! I'm going to miss him!

Here's Mike.  He ate himself to sleep.

I'm running late as I was up late watching the Marlins lose.  I have to go to the Vampire at 7:30.  Then I am off for a nice breakfast.

Daily Updates
Legislature, Braveheart, Gull - UPDATE May 17, 2016
17 May 2016
Print Email
The good news today was that the legislature sided with us on the DNR?s bill to ban hand-feeding. A big thank you to all the legislators involved. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7ZdoRo_lu0

If anyone was waiting to see how the legislation went before signing up for a Black Bear Field Course, we have 4 slots Tame gull's injured legopen and may be able to accommodate a few more if those are filled and you sign up on the waiting lists http://www.bearstudy.org/website/field-study-courses.html

Braveheart and the two yearlings with her had fun today. Geneva and Porter were intrigued by a hammock, as black bears often are. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceUP2kdpF7M

The tame gull was late coming today?not until late afternoon. I wondered why it was standing on one leg, then saw the injured leg that it can barely touch to the ground. I?m going to give it all the spam, etc., it wants and hope it heals. It looks bad at this point. I don?t know how an injury like this would happen, perhaps a big fish like a northern pike? I hope the gull survives.

We got good coverage on KBJR Channel 6 and KDLH Channel 3 today out of Duluth http://www.northlandsnewscenter.com's story on the Bear Center. A slight error in the reporting was that our renovation cost three and a half million. That number is actually the cost of the entire facility. It was a nice piece, showing Lucky and Honey and some of the interior. Thank you to everyone involved.

Thank you for all you do.
