Dee that zoo always gets the cutest babies or maybe it's partly that they get the word out more than a lot of zoos.  That little panda lying on its back yawning is just precious and the gorilla.  Good luck with your appointment Monday.  Wow Bei Bei is a year already.  "the boys' rental properties" You mean like they own them and rent them out or they live there?  It looks like a pretty part of Tucson! That's nice the kids got some together time.

I think we're supposed to be in the lower 70's this week and if it quits raining long enough to actually dry up it would be great!  The places on down south of here DON'T need any rain for a long time or at least the results of rain north of them.

Soda may not be able to see Pearl raise a foot, but will hear and understand her noises.  I bet Pearl just has to realize Soda isn't a threat to her.  They're going to be buddies.

Rues I've never had a pool.  Does the water stay in there all year, even when it's "closed"? Doesn't it freeze and damage the walls?  Just curious.  I think a neighbor we had a long time ago up in MN used to drain his and then filled it up using the fire hydrant.  Guess it helps when you're chief of police and a couple volunteer firemen are also neighbors.  >:(

Oh no your quilt Cal!!  :'(

Ted looks like he's smiling in that picture  :)  Love the dog on the flower pots JP, sorry you're dragging a bit or were when you posted.

Way to go Cal, she looks like she rides just great!  I love it when they're talkers.  I don't know what would happen if I got on a horse now with my hips.

I spent 3:02 with the mustangs.

cal, there is no Marlins game tonight, it has been canceled.  Jose Fernandez, their ace pitcher, 24 years old and sure bet for all-star, and Hall of Fame credentials, was killed in a boating accident last night.  So tragic.

Well, Jewelies, my lawn mower has been in the shop for almost 2 weeks. Couldn't it have waited until mowing season was over?  Not doing too badly--have only looked out the windows at the rapidly growing grass only 20 million times. Cal, I need your crew to come graze it! Dlong, what good pics. you always send us. Just love, love those pandas and the gorilla. Many years ago, I watched a huge male gorilla at one of the Chicago zoos eat, and he had better manners than a lot of humans. He delicately held his food in his fingers, slowly and thoughtfully ate it, while staring off into space. Is your surgery scheduled yet? Please refresh my memory as to what is going on there. Rues, the weather here has been absolutely wonderful. Is crow reading anything now? Neva, Tuson sounds interesting. I've never been out in your area. I have flown over the west to get to California, but nothing on the ground west of me other than Chicago. Hi to all you other Jewelies--think of all you every day.

Hi Jewelies! I had a big long post right after Cal posted her video but for some reason it wouldn't post! So I left it and went to Olive Garden with Robin. Just got back and the post was gone. So I start over ...

Cal, you and Pearl look so good together! I enjoyed the video so much that I watched it twice! What was Pearl saying to you? She sure had a lot to say! Your grass is so green. Everything there is so green! You have a very nice place!  Robin got home Tuesday eve. We picked her up in Charleston around 7pm. She had a great time. She said the Potter play was excellent, so much better than the book. They enjoyed the Harry Potter Warner Bros studio tour. She and Letty did all the touristy things like visiting Big Ben, Tower of London, London Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey. They rode in the London Eye, that giant Ferris wheel, had Lady Grey tea and scones at a tea parlor, crossed Abbey Road, went into the gift shop at Apple Studios, rode a double decker bus, lunched in a pub, went into a red phone booth! I know I'm forgetting some other places. Then they rode the Chunnel train to Paris. They went to the Eiffel Tower,  the Arc de Triomphe,  ate at some cute little sidewalk cafes and feel in love with the Louvre! She was thrilled to see all the paintings and statues that she had only seen in books. She said she was mesmerized by the Mona Lisa! Thrilled to death to see the Winged Victory, one of her favorites! She loved the French people and their language. She said when they speak it sounds like they are singing. Now she wants to learn French and go back for a longer visit! I think she had a fantastic vacation. Still haven't seen her pics yet!

Jp, that lounging dog was so cute! Hope your blahs didn't last long! Crow told me this afternoon about the player that was killed. How sad.

Neva, I knew you lived in Tucson! Sounds like a very nice place to live.

Nora, to close our pool in the fall we add winterizing chemicals to the water, then use a compressor to blow out all the pool lines and then plug the jets. The skimmer box needs that pink RV anti freeze put into it. Then put the winter cover, similar to a big tarp, over the entire pool. Inside the garage, the sand filter needs drained and all the line valves need to be shut off. Crow then turns the power off at the electric box. Some people still drain their pools down below the inlet jets and the skimmer box but we were told from the very beginning not to do that because it can cause damage to the liner. We've never had any freeze damage in the 15 yrs we've had the inground. Knock on wood! You probably know more about winterizing a pool now than you ever wanted to know! Lol!

Obsver, Crow isn't reading anything now! He is too busy watching football!  We don't have to mow because our grass is brown! They are saying that September may break a record for the least amount of rainfall...ever!

Fern's cub.  It is hard for me to realize little Fern is now a mother.

I seem to have more energy today than I did yesterday.  I think I will hang on to that feeling.

I'll send you all a wish.

Daily Updates
Tasha, Lucky, Holly, and Birds - UPDATE September 25, 2016
25 September 2016
Print Email
At the Bear Center, Lucky and Holly might be doing a repeat. This afternoon, after putting major effort into being Miss Independent by making a den of her own, Tasha
Tasha
Holly joined Lucky in the big bunker den they shared last winter. We don't know if they played or just had quiet time.

For play, Tasha was a fireball this afternoon.  Curator Sharon Herrell wrote "Tasha was running and jumping in her pool, tipping over her fresh water, and playing in the straw. She bit the hose near the nozzle and sprayed water around for a few seconds as I tried to pull it away from her (see video). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GT1yXrz96A. She ran at the fence 3 times, which means, "you need to get my belly."

Mallards at the WRI
Mallards at the WRI
Lucky chased Tasha near the mound, but instead of staying away from him, Tasha tried to get him to chase her two more times. He wasn't interested."

At the WRI and in the community, a few bears are still showing up here and there, including Jewel and Fern and their cubs. We don't know of any bear hunters in the area.

Today, a female rusty blackbird joined the clean-up crew of 14 mallard ducks and about that many blue jays. It was our first sighting of a rusty blackbird passing through this fall. They stand out with their rusty color, yellow eyes, and the female's buffy eyebrow line.

Thank you for all you do.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JP!!!!!   I saw a card at the store that said, "Birthdays Are Good For You. The More You Have, the Longer You Live!"  As Spock would say, "May you live long and prosper!"   Many, many best wishes to you today and every day!!!!
