Good morning everyone-  cal- yay for Boo- sounds like he is doing really well- and he pooped!  lol Was glad to read that.

johoward- in my day we called your mixture a wine cooler. Nowadays hubby and i make them out of apple cider and 7Up. Unfortunately our apple trees haven't produced  in years. We used to make cider every fall and used pears from our tree. Now we don't have any producing fruit trees.

Yesterday we got local gifts  from neighbors. Our neighbor to the south brought maple syrup  that he and a friend make every year from the trees on their land. Then our neighbor to the east brought cinnamon rolls and some honey that is from the bees that were on our land.  Two little bear containers.  We also got the cake and ice cream bought and delivered to the nursing home.
That was very sad for me. They had a letter for us to mail which hubby's brother just usually slips under the door.    I wasn't going in- don't usually and hubby said sil would like to see you. They have a foyer and that's where we place things then and interior door. Sil came to interior door and was confused as to what to do with the letter. Hubby got the message across after awhile. Sil really wanted a hug and we placed hands together with the glass between us. She suffers from dementia.  Sad.

Football today and maybe a bit of snow.

Have a great day jewelies!

Good afternoon, Jewelies! The sun is shining and it's already 400 outside. Snow is finally melting but I think it may take a while. There's ice under it!

Cal, I am so thrilled that Boo is doing so well! Never so happy to hear that a dog pooped and peed! Lol! We especially miss Molly and Boo during meals. They both would sit on the floor next to Crow's chair and beg. He'd feed them both tidbits! Might gross some out but we would put our dinner plates on the floor and let them  lick them clean! We have now found Wilson is begging for food. However he is choosey...he mainly wants pork! He loves bacon and ham but not sausage. He doesn't like hamburger at all. Last night he hesitated but finally ate a few tiny pieces of turkey! This is really funny...he comes running to the kitchen when he smells Chick- Fil- A chicken! He gobbles it up!

Ra, I took my tree down yesterday, too. Christmas is put away but I left the snowmen out. I keep them out through January. All these years I have struggled dragging the Christmas tree box upstairs from the basement. I have to move some furniture out of the way just to get the box to the living room. I don't know why I never thought of this before...take the tree, comes in 3 parts, out of the box and take each section up by itself! No more moving furniture! I did have some fake tree needles to clean up but that wasn't a big deal! My neighbor girl goes to Coastal Carolina. I think she's a junior now. She doesn't come home much anymore since she started dating a fellow student. He graduated last year and moved back home to Wisconsin. Her mom says she spends more time at his house now. She came home for Christmas but I think she may have already left.

Lupe, so sad reading about your visit with the sil. Someday, soon, I hope she can get all the hugs she wants. You do have the best neighbors! Fresh maple syrup, cinnamon rolls and honey! Doesn't get much than that! Vinyl records are the in thing now! It seems everyone wants to hear that scratchy crackly noise that you get from a record! Here's Robin new record player and Maui supervising! She's into everything! That Charlie Brown record is green!

Jo, I knew what Reunite was! I've had a glass or two before. Never thought to put 7up in it!  I hate close calls! So happy that you didn't get hit. I know that feeling when you think your heart is going to explode and your legs are like jelly.

Have a great afternoon! Stay safe and take care!

cal... I think I'm jinxing the Chiefs!  They should be beating the pants off Atlanta!  What's wrong with them today??  I wonder who came up with "Blue Lady".  Mahomes says it all the time.  Your lucky dog eats better than I do!  lol   I like all that stuff he's getting, too.  lol

rues... Who would have guessed that lp's would come back in style!  What next... 8 track tapes??  lol  Love Maui... she's so cute!  Handsome is very picky... he only likes beef and a tiny amount of ham.  Chicken, turkey, pork, cheese... no.  My youngest grand works at Chick-fil-A and loves it there.  She says over 100 people come through there every hour!  My daughter and both grands eat there all the time!  I always ask them if they don't get tired of it.  They bring me some about once a month, but I don't see what's so special about it.  I don't like their waffle fries, so one time I got a side salad instead.  I opened it and said I couldn't eat it!  It was all dark lettuce... yuck!  I like iceberg only!  lol  The other stuff tastes like grass... and yes, I've tasted grass.  lol

lupine... You sure do have some nice neighbors!

I remember growing up for special occasions the bottle of Mogen David Concord Grape Wine was brought out.  When grandma was in the nursing home they kept a locked up bottle down by the nurses station and she got a little glass each evening.  Her "heart doctor" had told her years before that a glass at night was good for her.  Anyway, we had white soda, probably cheaper than 7UP and we'd pour that together with the Mogen David.  Yum.  Well I didn't get to until I was out of high school.  ;D  It was a treat to have "real" pop.  We either drank Kool-Aid or mom's homemade root beer.

Nice neighbors!  It's fun when people do those things at Christmas.

What a sad visit to the nursing home.  This year has been so hard on people like that.

CAL!!!  I've been doing some catching up.  It sounds like Boo had to have his leg amputated??  Cancer??  He'll do great on three, but must be hard watching him getting used to it and how to do things.  I'm sorry to hear about him.  :'(   I worry so much about Chester, he's between 9 1/2 and 10, so anything could start happening with him.  I took him in for his hip, but sounds like arthritis.  Got him started on Dasuquin with the MSM.  It's been about 3 weeks and he gets stiff, but seems to be doing better on steps or getting in the GMC.  He's trotting a little more, so fingers crossed.  He's not going up the steps into the house at an angle anymore.

That record player looks nice.  I have a few favorites I've kept, Joe's nephew took a bunch that weren't my "special" ones, but I don't have anything to play mine on.  I got a kick out of her not knowing about the adapter for the 45's.

Good morning everyone- i'm a bit early- haven't seen cal  yet.  We got a little snow yesterday afternoon. It rained just a bit then snow so there's probably ice under the snow on bertha.

nora- good to hear from you. Oh i remember Mogen David from my younger days. My mom and dad drank something like that in their coffee- of all things. Only at night though. Well at least that's how i remember it. Now i can't imagine spoiling a good cup of coffee or a good glass of wine by putting them together! lol

Football- miracle of miracles- the Steelers won! Amazing.  I also watched the Chiefs- very nervous for them. I think the most amazing play was when Hill got intercepted and he chased down the guy with the ball. He truly is a cheetah.

The Hawkeye's bowl game on Wednesday was cancelled due to the Missouri team and ykw. Bummer for both teams.

ra- i too thought i was jinxing the Chiefs- lol.

rues- ty for the picture of maui and the record player. When we had a dog hubby let him "preclean" our plates too. Waggles was a very spoiled pooch. Hubby was in charge of doing the dished and he said the pre-washing made washing the dished easier.  Now- don't tell anyone-but- in the morning when i have eggs for breakfast i save some for Izzy. She sits quite primly on the arm of my chair until i finish then i give her the plate with just a few bits. The plate is quite clean when she's done. I haven't told hubby about that yet.

Have a great day jewelies!

Dr. Rogers and Donna Bear

Dr. Rogers is in the hospital recovering from heart surgery. He is very fortunate that the doctors were able to spot the problem before it was too late. He is hoping to be home later this week, though he will have a recovery period and will need time to gain his strength. Until he is stronger he will be taking a break from updates.

Many wishes to Dr. Rogers, for a fast and full recovery!

Thank you for all you do Doc!

Good morning everyone- 15 here and lots of snow on the way. We are under a winter storm watch with snow  4  to 8 inches- maybe more!!I need to get my shovels out this morning.  Mixed precip later to the south of us. I'm hoping it doesn't come this far north. Our roads were slick yesterday- i opted to skip going to the rec center and hubby went into town later and he said the roads were still bad then. Glad i stayed home.  Did some cleaning and made bone broth. I'm using a crock pot that belonged to my  mil. It has to be at least 50 years old.

So sorry to hear about Dr. Rogers- sending positive vibes his way.
cal- good to hear boo doing well!
Have a great day jewelies!

hi cal- bloom is from Christmas cactus. Just checked radar- nothing here yet but you guys look terrible. Snow and freezing other stuff.  Izzy went out for about 5 minutes- said let me in!  I watched buffalo bills game from last night. The announcers said maybe buffalo will play chiefs. That would be a really good game.  Iowa basketball tonight. cul
