Hope everyone is having a nice Christmas! We definitely got a white one! We got between 5 and 6 inches. Thankfully it was the light fluffy stuff. Was able to brush it off the sidewalk and porch with a broom. It was really cold out even with the sun shining a little today. We did something different this holiday. Instead of eating at 1 we ate at 3. I like the later time and think that's what we'll be doing for now on. We all liked our presents. I was surprised when I saw there was a book under the tree for me! :o Robin got me Barack Obama's book A Promised Land. It's a thick one and may take me awhile to read! Lol! She also got me a heated throw! Never heard of such a thing. If it will keep me warm, I'll love it! She asked for an old fashioned record player!  Of course Santa brought her one. I told her that her Fisher Price record player was up in the attic but she preferred a newer one. Crow took the player home for her and got it set up. You remember the 45  spindle adapter? Robin didn't know what it was for! Crow had to tell her! Lol!

Cal, so happy that your Boo is back home where he should be! It will take time but he will adapt and not even miss the leg. When Molly was on all her meds, I found that pieces of hot dog were a good way to hide them! Our Boo would eat anything we gave him. So pills were no problem. Glad that you got Polly's car all sorted out. One less thing to worry about. Can't believe you are making rolls! I have a bread machine that I haven't used in years. I keep saying I'm going to donate it to Goodwill. Love the horses in the snow greeting!

Ra, wow, you got snow!! When was the last time you remember getting snow? Do you even have a snow shovel? Lol! We didn't get above 20 today. Brrr! I think it's supposed to warm up by Sunday. I hope so. I don't like it to be cold.

Jo, are you still full from dinner? I am! I was channel surfing earlier and saw that Paddington Bear was on. I've never watched him! I definitely know the lord of Downton Abbey! Hope you had a nice day with your family.

Nora, love Chester and Astrid's greeting! Hope they had a fun snow ball fight! Lol!

Lupe, caramels are one of my favorite candies! I am addicted to the milk chocolate covered caramels with sea salt that are sold at Sam's Club!  Chocolate covered cherries are another favorite. We always got a box from Santa. I could live on candy, cake and ice cream!

Stay safe and take care! :)

Hi rues... No, I don't own a snow shovel!!  In SC??  lol  IF we get snow, we just wait for it to melt... no shoveling.  lol  One Christmas about 10 years ago, we were having Christmas brunch with the whole family at my daughter's house and it started snowing like crazy.  That's the only time we've ever had a white Christmas.  I didn't hang around long after it started snowing, I was scared to drive down the mountain on snowy roads.  I didn't have snow at my house though.  I heard that Obama's book was really big... I hope you like it.  I read Michelle's book, but not his... yet.  I got lots of candy from the girls!  Chocolate covered pecans, M&M's with almonds, chocolate covered potato chips.  So much for trying to watch my weight.  lol  I accidentally bought a smoked picnic instead of a ham!  I had to look online to see how it was supposed to be cooked.  It looked like a ham and was in with all the other hams at the store.  I'll know better next time to read the label!  It was pretty good... a little salty and didn't have near as much meat as a regular ham.  Not much left over at all.

Hi ev1,
Just got back in.  It is a terrible night to travel.  Almost got hit by a car backing out.  He could not see me due to a snow covered car parked on my side of the road.  I had to blow my horn a lot to prevent a collision.  I could not have stopped.  Luckily he heard my horn and stopped just short of being in front of me.  wow!!!!! Talk about tense.  I was really white knuckling for a few seconds.
Did have a very nice dinner at about 4:30 or 5:00. Then some gift opening with the great grandsons helping everyone, and getting the more interesting ones.  A Red Rider for example.  Also some Hot Wheels racing castle, and talking plastic dog that walks and turns around when hitting a wall.  Many nice cards.  I got an inflatable travel bed i had asked for so I could avoid sleeping on someone else's bed wherever I go.  Also got a Wendy's gift card from my granddaughter, Shannon, who works at Wendy's and is proud of it.
Mary will get a Moderna covid shot tomorrow.  She works at University Hospital with covid patients.  I hope she does well with it.  She has had reactions to shots in the past.
So a good Christmas, but sad too without Gramma Joan to share it with us.  She was really missed by everyone.  None more than me.
Good night now and God Bless

Forgot to share the menu.  Honey Glazed Ham, greenbeans wrapped in bacon and baked until crisp yummm, potato salad like gramma made, baked mac and cheese but very special first try great, olives of all kinds, cookies, coffee, shrimp with hot sauce, diet Dr. Pepper (two), and some gerkins.
Also the best part is I brought home some of each.
Now for some Reunite and Seven Up over ice and TV.  Good night all.

Good morning everyone-  20 here and going up to 35 today  and calm.  We had a calm holiday- our noon meal was delicious- T bones in the wood stove, fresh steamed carrots and salad. We had  chocolates for dessert and i had coffee. Hubby watched a marathon of Harry Potter movies yesterday except for the last one i think.

Hawkeyes lost to Minnesota in basketball last night in overtime; i'm thinking i should give up watching any sports. A couple of football games are on today. Maybe i'll watch them because i don't care who wins!

rues- how funny that Robin wanted a record player. And the  45 adapter- good for crow to show her how to use it.

I need to go to the bakery today to get a cake for my sil's birthday/ This sil lives with her husband in the assisted living center in town. Her birthday is tomorrow and her husband called and  would like a cake and ice cream to be delivered there.  For 10 people.  They want a strawberry angel food cake and our local Amish bakery makes them. My Mom used to make angel food cakes and i always thought they were terrible. I want a real cake. Anyhow i want to go early because they get super busy on Saturdays. Hubby will get ice cream in town then deliver cake and ice cream to his brother this afternoon so they'll be set.

johoward- glad you had  a nice time with your family. Just hate close calls like you had- usually afterward my knees get to knocking.  I'm sure you all missed Joan.  So glad Mary is getting the first of her vaccines tomorrow.

cal- sounds like you guys are handling the challenges so far. Hang in there- boo will get stronger with each day as he learns how to adapt to his changing situation.

ra- can't believe you don't have a snow shovel- shall i send one?  lol

My Christmas cactus really, really wants to bloom- maybe for New Year's!!

nora - good to hear from you- love your picture- Chester and Astrid the gnome. Cute.
Have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies!   Still pretty cold here today, even though it was sunny!  Low of 18o tonight again.  Brrr!!

cal... How long is Polly staying?  Sounds like you're about ready for her to go home.   ;)  I saw that Home Town is going to have new episodes pretty soon, but I didn't catch the date.  Have you heard anything?  Seems like first week in January, but not sure.  It sounds like Booboo is getting the hang of using 3 legs already.  Amazing how adaptable dogs are.

lupine... I think I'll pass on the offer of your snow shovel.  lol  But, thanks anyway!  lol

joho... I'm curious about Reunite, too.  I don't have a clue what it is!  I'm glad you had a nice Christmas with your family.  Your first Christmas without Joan... I know how much you miss her.

rues... I spent the day today taking down all my Christmas decorations and the tree, too.  I got a lot of it packed up, but the girls' room is still a mess.  I have a lot of stuff to put in bins yet.

I've been ready to watch football!  Tonight I'm going to watch Coastal Carolina and see if they can have a whole season undefeated.  I never watch them play, but it's football. lol

Hope everyone is having a good evening!

Hiev1,
Sounds like boo is doing better.  That is good.
Reunite is a popular brand of wine.  I like their Lambrusco and their Raspberry wines.  I put diet Seven-up and wine 50/50 over ice, and it suits my taste. It helps me sleep too. WhichI will soon be doing
