hi jewelies it is 43 here 51 in the barn 2 raccoonies. tasha sure is a busy little bear and i would say that ice is pretty thick to hold her. i dont know about that DNR giving permission for that cam. last year when update said someone was covering up a trail cam so could not see what hunters were doing i emailed her and she was kinda rude an i hate rudeness. still say property owners say its okay go for it. what is next you cant a picture of something on your own property.

hi lupe how is hubby?

Good morning everyone- 34 and raining here. Snow up north of us. Sounds like it will be a rainy, cold day.

Hubby is about the same; i talked him into calling his doctor while i went to mail a bill and pick up a couple groceries.  He set up a video visit using my laptop. His computer is so old it doesn't have a camera or speaker. lol After that meeting she set up a time for a covid test this morning. She said his symptoms don't sound like the regular ones but we should be safe and do a test. We won't get the results until friday probably but that's okay. We're staying in now. At  least his temp is staying below 100. We kind of laugh at ourselves because in any other year it would be ho hum- just a slight cold. But this year- wow.  I'm still amazed when you hear on tv how people have a rough time getting the test- waiting in line, etc. He goes to the clinic where his doctor is- parks in the lot and call to tell them he's there and they'll come out and take the sample.  His doctor asked about me and he said -yeah too late for that.  If he has it i'm already exposed.  So we remain optimistic.

I went out yesterday and finished in the barn garden. Picked up the limbs the deer knocked off my evergreen tree that i can see from my chair. Every year they rub the velvet off their new antlers and really make a mess of the south side of the tree. I guess they are getting used to the smell of irish spring. I even hung 2 cow bells in the tree. I really love wildlife but the south side of that tree is very wonky looking.

Yesterday izzy or me- but i'm blaming izzy- made some changes to my laptop. She deleted all the e-mails- luckily we'd read all of them and my favorite tab is out of wack. I'm so not tech minded. Hubby was surprised how easy it was to do the doctor visit on line. Anyhow- trying to figure the favorite tab out.  Izzy really likes to sit in my lap especially when i'm on the computer. As i've probably said before she likes being the laptop. lol

Time for breakfast- have a great day jewelies!

hi cal- hope your finger is better. Did you ice it? I asked hubby if test was a bad as the time he had it before his procedure in the fall. He said it was worse!  Just waiting now.

Raining all day today. Izzy is the bestest bright thing here.

Hi Jewelies! It's been a damp chilly day! Tomorrow rain comes back. Got everything ready for Thanksgiving dinner. Crow asked for something new...sweet potato casserole. I told him to get me the recipe and I'd give it a try. I've never eaten one or ever seen one! lol!

Cal, did you see that the next Blacklist isn't until Jan 22?! I had forgotten all about Liz's daughter so I googled it. Agnes is staying with a nanny. I'll be going to Walmart tomorrow morning with my sister. Drove past there this afternoon and their parking lot was packed. Hope it won't be like that in the morning. Our county had 2 more ykw deaths yesterday and 2 over the weekend.  :(  It's scary to go out among people.  Hope that middle finger of yours is ok!

Lupe, I hope your hubby is ok. That waiting is awful. The COVID test I took mostly just tickled the inside of my nose. I know there's one that goes way up into the nose but that's  not the one I had! For the first time ever, Wilson slept on the foot of my bed last night!

Ra, can't believe your grand will be 18! She's smart to take advantage of the free tuition. WV has something similar but it wasn't available when Robin went to college. I've racked my brain about your book but I can't remember it! I'm so forgetful.

Have a nice evening and stay safe!  :)

LILY'S FIRST CHRISTMAS

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
Lily searched and she searched for her only toy mouse.
Lily's the cat I found in the ditch,
Or maybe she found me, who knows which is which.
The Christmas tree hung from the ceiling with care,
In hopes little Lily couldn't reach it up there.
I woke up in the night, I heard such a clatter,
I jumped out of bed to see what was the matter.
Lily had climbed the tree to the top,
And all I could do was say, "Stop, Lily, stop!"
There, looking up, was Trina and Joy...
"She's in trouble again, what fun, oh boy!"
I cleaned it all up, I shed only one tear.
I'll just try it again, when she's bigger... next year.        ra

Hi Jewelies!  Chilly and sunny today.

rues... How did you like my story?  Since we've all been talking about our cats and Christmas trees, I thought I'd post it.  Hopefully, nobody will steal it.  lol  I sent it in once in a children's book contest, but never heard from the people.  Strange that Wilson slept on the bed for the first time!  Wonder what got into him!  lol  I slept with my cats for many years until Lily decided she has to walk around the bed all night. That's her new thing... walking around and around and around... the dining room table, the bed, the island in the kitchen.  She drives me nuts!
Good luck with the sweet potato casserole!  Are you doing that instead of mashed potatoes or doing both?

cal... Hope your finger is ok.  You are so hard on your body!! I'm glad you and rues keep me posted on the Blacklist!  I don't ever hear that kind of news, for some reason.

lupine... Hope hubby is feeling better today. Is his temp down?  Don't you just love it when your cat "fixes" your computer for you?  lol  Handsome has been know to "help", too.  lol

I hope everyone has a good evening!

Daily Updates
Happy Thanksgiving - UPDATE November 25, 2020
25 November 2020
 Print Email
I?m looking forward to tomorrow that Donna and I will spend together feeling thankfulBlack capped Chickadee
Black capped Chickadee
for so many things, including our health, in this time of covid. Just about all the couples we know are also spending the day alone. No update tomorrow because we?re not sure where we?ll be.

Today, I spent a day at my desk with squirrels and chickadees providing their company outside the window. With our fingers crossed, the den cam team is preparing for Lily?s den cam. We haven?t heard from the DNR yet, but I am excited at the thought of students who are studying at home in this time of covid being able to spice up their days watching Lily and cubs. For areas where students are in school, I?ve been hearing for years how teachers would love to have Lily and a den cam back in their classrooms. Red Squirrel

I hope the DNR wants to learn and educate as much as we do. I would love to show the world what the DNR and we can do together. Thank you for the support you showed for this during GiveMN.

At the Bear Center, Tasha is also teaching us what bears do in dens. "Happycub" captured two pictures of the action a couple days ago and described it well, saying, ?Tasha was out at 10:30 am today - temps about 17 degrees. She went under the deck and ate seed/grasses? (hard to see her) then gathered another tumble weed of bedding and brought it back to the rock den where she spent quite some time rolling/rubbing/splitting it as if to rid it of something or soften it to her liking - like kneading bread for lack of a better description. I wish she could tell us. She then settled in deep in the back of the rock den pulling her bedding up around her at 11:15. She came out later again early evening from what I hear (I missed it) and did somewhat of the same. ?Amazing stuff we're able to witness.?

hi jewelies it is 26 here 51 in the barn my one raccoonie but always when i go back in an hour or so all the food is gone and water. tasha is such a pretty bear and not tired at all. got the whole place to herself. like shopping on old folks day. i hope that DNR will not be a meanie on that den cam but i dont know l dont see what harm in a den cam and on someones private property. all the stuff in this world this year and being petty on a den cam would just be not right.

Hi Lupe! oh my hand was very painful for a long time but it is so much better now still little swollen and painful but nothing like it was. same price to pay for pearl getting up. how was your basketball game? hope hubbys test is neg tomorrow but even if it is stay in! keep on staying in. hope he is feeling better too. i have trying to remember that one little dogs name you use to watch not duke the other one where the mom and dad did the 12 days of christmas to you left a daily poem that was so fun.

Good morning everyone-  i spent 12  hours in bed last night with the help of nyquil. Started feeling bad yesterday and am pretty sure it is a sinus thing. Not the same symptoms as hubby though my temp was 100.1 last night. Bad news is that the woman whom hubby worked with at his brothers house  last wednesday tested positive. So did her husband. So we're pretty sure he will be positive. He feels better-not bad just no energy. Hubby wore a mask- they did not.

cal- so funny that you mentioned "Nelson". He is the shih tzu i watched for several years. A wonderful pooch. His Mom- who owns Taste of Iowa- came to the door last night with pies!!! The 4 inch pies- pecan, apple crumb and pumpkin. I had just mentioned not an hour before to hubby that this would be the first Thanksgiving that we would have no pie. Wow. We stayed far away from each other and she said- Even though we have to be alone doesn't mean we can't have pie. Don't you just love it?  Hubby said we are so blessed. And i agree.

Hawkeyes won their basketball game- so fun to see all the returners plus a new class of freshmen.  Steelers play the Ravens tonight- they beat the Ravens a couple weeks ago but you never know. I'm going to try to stay up to see it.

I didn't eat much yesterday and amm hungry this AM.

Have a great day jewelies!
