Good morning everyone- must be warm out since the furnace hasn't been  coming on. Another nice day today. I got my bird feeder set up and has some sunflower seeds in it.

Hubby's brother decided to put their house up for sale and realtor wants it cleaned out and stuff put in the garage. Well- the garage was full although they did keep a car and a pickup in there.  So hubby is cleaning the garage so they'll have a place to put all the stuff from the house. He brought home some leftover  bird food so i'm using it.  I stopped by yesterday and he's doing a good job. Been a couple weeks.

I watched ted and that mouse- so cute!! Just love our ted!

Iowa whooped up on michigan state yesterday 49- 7. I saw clemson lost - sorry ra. Wasn't their quarterback out with ykw?
We don't get to see the chiefs today but steelers play at 3 PM.

Going for pizza today and maybe a short ride. sometime we need to get to menards- need humidifier wicks and other stuff.

Have a great day jewelies!

Cal go to the doctor.  Get better.  You are needed by Jim and Pearl and the girls and the big dog and Griz and the rambunctious goat with the handsome coat and the cats moms et al and the coons and the birds  and by us friends.  May God Bless and Keep you comfortable.

hi jewelies it is 64 here 68 in the barn 4 raccoonies. when i came in from the barn turned on the tv saw alex trebek passed away Jeopardy! is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends.  he seemed like such a nice man i remember an interview with him at his home he was outside working on his sewer line. almost all the work around his place he did himself. oh griz i feel maybe a little better my mallory square cam showing lights but rain soaked lens. i hope our new president works on the climate it needs so much help. still have not heard from sister i may have to tell jim she had a positive test but took a second one and since others there tested neg on the second one she is so sure she will too. if she is positive i am mad at her work not finding out who she is around and letting them know cause sister wont let anyone know. her test was neg last time she came here.

hi joho oh cal doesnt really go to the doctor. if i cant take care of my kids then i will but i still can. griz saying get back in here and take care of me!!

Good morning everyone- 64 and humid here; rain later today. This is the last day of 70's. Seven in a row- a record for november. Then normal temps.

I saw a couple tributes to Alex Trebeck- one interview- he seemed such a nice guy. Worked up to 10 days ago.

johoward- i'm impressed with your poetry- rambunctious goat with the handsome coat!!!

cal- i hope you feel better too. Not fun to have to drag through the day. Last saturday my sil who is in the senior living center in town asked me to pick something from her curio cabinet to remember her by.  She has some exquisite pieces but they just aren't me. Hubby had spent some time looking through her kitchen and found a piece he thought i'd like.  When i was looking through the curio cabinet and having a rough time hubby said look in here. There is a piece you might like. He opened he door and i immediately saw the piece. It was a pottery piece made in Kansas- a Steve Ashley- piece. I was thoroughly amazed that my hubby found what he knew i would like.  A beautiful pitcher with wheat on it. I'll take a photo sometime.  Called her and told her what i had picked. I'm not sure she remembered it but we had a nice conversation anyway.

Did anyone see the steeler game yesterday- they were losing until really late in the 4th quarter- sheesh but they were terrible. Finally got ahead in the 4th and won it.

Walking this morning then to the grocery stores. Looks really cloudy but no rain til late tonight.

Have a great day jewelies!

Hey y'all.
Pfizer CEO on channel 41 says they have a covid shot 90% effective. Flu shot only 60%.  90% is on a par with smallpox and measles.
No negative side effects. Can't wait to get my shot!!!!!  Canceled knee until after they and I all get a shot.  Was really afraid of going in to rehab after surgery.  Now I won't be.  I will just wait until it is safe.
YAY for the world Thank You God!!!!!!

Yes Stealers are a wonder, but so much DRAMA!! LOL

Daily Updates
A Fresh Start on Winter and Tasha Chooses a Den - UPDATE November 9, 2020
09 November 2020
 Print Email
Tasha in rock den
Tasha in rock den

Winter weather disappeared and every speck of snow and ice melted this past week as record cold turned into record warm. Today, we are going back to normal. At dawn today, it was 52?F. Now at 6:30 PM, it is 31?F with snow beginning. Lakes that have reopened will be freezing again.

We?ll see how Lily responds to the change. Through yesterday, she was emerging from her den daily. We?ll see what the return to winter weather does to her schedule. I?ll probably get a report tomorrow.

Big excitement with Tasha at the Bear Center. She is doing in captivity what black bears do in the wild. However, I had never been able to see a wild bear in the act of stripping cedar bark, which is a common component in wild dens. Tasha is showing us how it is done and how to incorporate it in a nest bed. Taught by Bears caught her doing it in this 10:25-minute video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fwuajTVUnM

She is lining her den with entirely wild vegetation.

Before that, Tasha reminded us of June removing rocks from a wild den back in 2004. Industrious Tasha is doing even more in this rock den as captured by Pooch Pal in this 13:20-minute video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qd4FK4IUEfg

I didn?t know this much digging and enlarging was possible when Honey and Lucky made do with what this rock den was years ago.

In this 6:39-minute video, Tasha is gathering and arranging wild grass https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLUB32UPhH8

In this 8:03-minute video, Tasha is arranging her bedding https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uU5SUcl5uLE

I don?t know of another video series, captive or wild, that shows this detail of den construction.

Holly, I apologize for what I thought of you taking over Tasha?s den. Your shutting that door opened a window to Tasha showing us more about den construction than I?d ever seen in my 50-plus years of research. The forested enclosure where we all can watch is a wonderful place for learning about wild ways. Bears will be bears.

The photo shows Tasha watching the rain that later turned into snowfall as winter gets a fresh start.

Thank you all, including Tasha, for all you do.

Good morning everyone- 55 here and i checked radar- rain only a few miles from us. I got my last hose put away yesterday so i am set for a rainy day.

cal- i watched the videos- it is so amazing how tasha can get that bark and then get it back to the den. I wonder if they'll give her straw too. Good you'll be home by the time the storms hit. Not fun to be on the road during high winds and rain.

johoward- had to laugh at your post typo "stealers" or was it a typo?? Either way i totally agree with you. They did steal that win.

I got an e'mail from the Y -rec center- suggesting that everybody wear masks in the building and if you are doing low impact exercise- also wear a mask. I've only "heard" comments about the increase in ykw cases locally but apparently they are officially up so they've come up with the suggestion. I'll try to walk with the mask but it may be too hot. We'll see.

Izzy being rambunctious this morning. She still hasn't seen the bird feeder outside the window she likes to sit in. She prefers the window to be open but haven't done that lately. I may have to show it to her. Her new favorite window is the east window in the living room. Right now she is on top of the chair which gives her a nice perch to watch whatever is going on out there.

Hope everyone if doing good- coping well or maybe just coping.
Have a great day jewelies!
