Good morning everyone- 42 here and full moon in the western sky. So pretty- cats sleeping in. Yesterday was really nice- I got the rest of that hosta dug up and relocated. Also dealt with some creeping Charlie- that stuff is really a pain.
cal- those baby birds are lucky to have you looking out for them. I don't think we have any nesting birds yet. I've seen lots of nest building behavior lately. Most of the trees are leafed out now so it's hard to see where the birds go. I've seen a cardinal pair pretty frequently when I've been sitting on the back porch. I talk to them every time- Build your nest here!

ra- what rotten luck with your fridge and freezer. But at least you had good people to help out.

Well, I just walked into the kitchen to see if there were any cats and there were 2 black cats on the porch. I only have one and she was a bit spooked though she was much bigger than the other one. After some growling the stray left-- and went right in the summer house! Aargh!! Maybe this is the guy that's been spraying the back door and spraying around in the summer house on the cat bedding. I just this week got that all sorted out- burned some stuff and had to wash their sleeping bag. I chased him out of the summer house. We'll have to set the live trap- catch him and get him- or her- neutered. So disgusted with people who drop off unwanted cats and don't get their animals spayed and neutered. Speaking of which I was pretty disgusted with an Iams commercial. It was a bulldog pulling a truck- but the awful thing is that they used an intact male dog. Wrong image to project.

Sun is up and not a cloud. Looking forward to our governor's update today. She is opening up more things in all counties tomorrow. I'm glad although we will still be staying at home until June 1st. And maybe for some time after that.
Have a great day jewelies!

Good morning everyone- 40 here and a few clouds. It was raining a little when I went to bed last night but it must have stopped soon after- doesn't look wet out.
I'm kind of bummed- yesterday I got a slight sore throat. Today is my sil's next to the last chemo and I think i'd better not be with her. Hubby will go. I don't feel sick and under normal circumstances ---but this is not normal anything. So- will stay home.

My fern peony is blooming- bright dark red. I'm sure I've told you this story before. Hubby's cousin (I think) built a house south of us in 2001. They built it with a separate apartment on the ground floor for his parents to live in. When they all moved in his Mom dug up the peonies from her old house and brought them to me. It was spring- not a good time to transplant a spring blooming plant. I cut off the buds and really babied them that year. Now they bring such joy every spring and remind me of my friend and neighbor- Jeanie.
Time for breakfast- have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies! We broke a record yesterday! It was for the coldest overnight temperature in recorded history...28! Widespread frost and freeze. The remainder of the day was nice in the 50's. Tonight back to freeze warnings and possible SNOW! Ugh. I hate snow in the winter and I really hate it in May! Looks like no warm up until next Thursday. I still haven't purchased any tomato plants or annuals or planted any seeds. This weather needs to straighten up and get it's act together!

Cal, wonder who that mystery bear is? I hope they can figure that out. Glad Pearl did well with Joe. I've been trimming Boo's nails a little every couple days. I wait till he falls asleep! That dog will let you do anything you want to him except trim those darn thick hard macaroni shaped nails! I can't believe it's time for Blacklist to be on again tonight. I can't keep up with time. Our dentists still can't see regular patients yet except for emergencies. But I think that ends next week. Crow has a new appt to get his teeth pulled and get his new dentures on the 21st. I hope they don't have to cancel that appt. He looks like an old hillbilly or a drug addict with those missing teeth.

Ra, sorry about your fridge! Must be that black cloud hanging around! So nice of your friends to let you store your food! Hope it's any easy fix! Or maybe you get a new one quickly. Our county is up to 43 cases now. I wonder how many more will get it since the governor is opening more places every week. Most are social distancing and wearing masks. But there are those that aren't. They are the ones I worry about.

Lupe, I enjoyed your fern peony story! I like to hear the stories how people acquire their plants. Most of my older plants came from my mom which came from her mom. I thought the same about that Iams commercial. I bet they got a lot complaints over it!

Have a nice day! It's pouring the rain down here! Stay safe!

Hi Jewelies!  Rain here, too.  Pretty chilly in the 50's.  Still no working fridge.  I waited for the guy yesterday from 7am, until he showed up at 4:30.  I was pretty mad about wasting my whole day... a day I was supposed to work and could have.  The first thing I told him when I opened the door was that I was going to try hard to be nice to him.  He apologized, but I was still mad.  He was here for 5 minutes, said it was the circuit board, and he'd have to order the part.  He was supposed to call me today and let me know when it would be in, but he never called.  Lowe's will hear about this after it's fixed... I thought he should have had a mask, gloves, and shoe covers on, but he had no protection of any kind.  Geez...

rues... I heard that your hair stylists have opened their shops there, makes me wonder why your dentists aren't open yet!  They said on tv that people were coming across your state lines to get their hair done.  lol   I got all my annuals Tuesday, didn't get them planted, and I'm glad of that now because it's supposed to be close to freezing every night for a few days here, too.  The mountains might get snow here, but I haven't heard that I have to worry about that...yet.  lol

lupine... Sorry you have a sore throat and won't be able to help your sil, but glad your hubby can do it instead.  You just can't be too careful these days with people like her especially.  Your peony sounds very pretty!  How long will the blooms last?  I don't have any of those plants... not sure they would even grow here in the heat.

cal... Blacklist again tonight already!  lol   Now that your baby birds are able to get up on that duct, will you still have to worry about them getting in Pearl's tank?  Hope not!  I need to mow again, too,but it's pretty wet here today too.  It's supposed to be nice and cool this weekend, so that would be a good time to mow.

Joho... Any updates for us?  Hope Joan is doing better!  Take care of yourself, too.

Have a good evening, Jewelies!  Handsome is on my lap helping, so this has taken forever to type... lots of typos!  lol

hi lupe! i loved your peony story! i have two over by the fence share with nolkers cows. tucked way back in with the big huge thorny trees. i remember going with mom out to old cemetary where my great grandma is buried and cousin pearl loved her so funny and cousin grace grouchy person granny had planted peony on their grave by the huge stand up markers. did sil and hubby do okay yesterday?

hi rues! wow that is cold! we are suppose to have cold morning and up to 50's for awhile too. if i mow today be wearing my winter gear. lol poor crow looks like a hillybilly or drug addict! oh rues your so funny. i forgot all about blacklist till i read your post just now! thank goodness i got that recording deal! i will watch it later yes days all messed up for me too. jim got a call from ford they go back on the 18th.  there go griz and now the girls. penny in big trouble yesterday she has been growling at other dogs griz cali even big boo she jumped cali yesterday in the kitchen cali was mad back i got that broke up now cali is limping  >:( penny way bigger than cali so i got the shock collar charging it is now ready to go so miss penny will be wearing that for awhile. i remember augie with his nail a nightmare when he slept i would get one. took a long time but kinda got them. griz does not like it but lets me do it he is a good old boy.

hi ra! i would be mad too! a whole day wasted and no working fridge. looks like you may have to call him too! oh yes lowe would hear about it. no protection either! when brad came and fixed my internet and i love my new wifi solution no router he had mask gloves and brought the stuff to fix it too. only cost me 50.00 for him to do that money well spent! i worry about the baby birds they really need to practice flying during the day and i am out there all the time but at night i worry got to sleep but they are still okay this morning. sitting on the warm heat duct. no frig that is hard ra..we have another one down in the basement along with our upright freezer so if one goes at least we can use the other till jim goes and gets one or fixes it probably just get a new one ours is 15 years old and the downstairs came from the old house its really old all will probably quit at once and jim will be out of town!  at least i got a herd of dogs to feed it too. herd of raccoonies herd of cats herd of mice i can go to mcdonalds drive thru.

Good morning everyone- 28 here and bertha is frosty; clear sky so temp may still drop a bit. I covered my bleeding heart yesterday. Put up protection from the wind during the day then I put small table and a bench on each side and draped doubled up sheets over it. The wind must have died down early because the covering is still intact- didn't get blown away. I won't uncover it until it warms up. I cleaned the closet where I keep the sheets yesterday in my search for something to cover that plant. Sometimes I wonder about me- keeping old worn out sheets that i'll never use on the bed any more. But... they did come in handy.

Hubby and sil did fine yesterday. I told him to pick her up at 7:15 and of course, he left the house at 7:20. She called because i'm usually a bit early so I told her I wasn't feeling up to par and her brother would take her. Oddly enough I really missed going with her. We spend time together but never a whole day. My throat is better today- no pain at all. Very bizarre. But i'm glad common sense ruled!

I did make good use of my whole day with the house to myself. Dusted a little, vacuumed a little, cleaned out a closet -some and watered my new plantings outside. They are perennials so they should be fine. I also harvested more asparagus- it has been so good. Also- I found live tennis on tv. It starts at 11 as it did yesterday. It was at a private club somewhere in Florida- they are keeping the location a secret. Bizarre rules because of ykw. Just singles- each player has their own 3 marked balls that he serves with. The other player never touches these balls with his hands. No ball persons and one official. Only one line person to call serves and he is on the other side of the fence. Anyhow- it is on tennis channel and fox sports today. No really big names are playing but there are 2 Americans playing that are fun to watch.

And my favorite hallmark Christmas movie was on last night- Snow Bride! What a day- tennis and a movie!

Have a great day jewelies!
