Mink of the Day and Groundhog Day - UPDATE February 3, 2020

The mink of the day was Streak?over and over all day. Not quite as trusting as Stripe but much more trusting than Banjo. It was good to see him (or her?).

Personable, trusting chickadees are always a joy.

I didn?t see any groundhogs yesterday, but if a red squirrel could be a stand-in while local groundhogs sleep, I can say that he did see his shadow, which would mean 6 more weeks of winter. An ending in Mid-March would be a nice reprieve from the deep snow of this winter. Deer would like it, too. Deep snow means a hard winter that some do not survive this far north. I?m sure Ted would appreciate not having to lift his feet that far as he tries to move about. But would it be good for cubs? They?re just opening their eyes in mid-March, and it would be another month before they?re ready to follow mom. Sometimes it?s hard to know what?s really best. Maybe Groundhog Day doesn?t apply here. In fact, I don?t think groundhogs even care about groundhog day here. I?ve never seen one so much as show its face on that day.

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) ? A tweet from President Trump saying the Kansas City Chiefs had represented Kansas well by winning the Super Bowl was deleted quickly, but Sunflower State lawmakers didn't let it pass unnoticed Monday.

The Kansas House had a little fun with Trump's geographical fumble in congratulating the Chiefs on their come-from-behind victory Sunday over the San Francisco 49ers. Trump later tweeted that he was proud of the team and Missouri, where the Chiefs play.

House Speaker Ron Ryckman Jr., a Kansas City-area Republican, had a clerk read Trump's original tweet as if it were a formal presidential message to the chamber.

President Trump mistakenly congratulates 'the Great State of Kansas' after Chiefs' Super Bowl win
By The Associated Press
When the clerk read, ?You represented the Great State of Kansas and, in fact, the entire USA, so well," House members cheered.

Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly said there's no rivalry between the two states when it comes to the Chiefs.

?Kansas has always been part of Chiefs Kingdom,? she said in a statement.

The Legislature later canceled Wednesday's business so members and staff can attend a victory parade in Kansas City, Missouri.

the schools cancelled today too so kids could go to the parade

Good morning everyone- don't know what was with my puter but I think the keyboard was dirty. Hubby fixed it with his compressed air. Nora- I never changed any settings- at least not on purpose- I would be typing and all of a sudden my sentence would be back in the middle of the last sentence. so either my keyboard was dirty or it was possessed. since this is the only place I type a lot it was confusing.

cal- ty for posting the horse ad. I didn't watch the half time show. As a matter of fact this is the first super bowl in a long time where I was more interested in the actual game. So very glad the Chiefs won.
We have had melting snow here and our road is getting a bit better. Still not warm enough to wash bertha besided she would just get muddy again getting home.

time for breakfast- have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies!  Yesterday it was 77o here!  Wow... in early February!  I've got to put my two cents in about our president and the Super bowl halftime show...  I agree totally with JP when he said..."And isn't it a shame that an important citizen to these United States does not know that  Kansas City, and the Chiefs team, are in Missouri?"   His staff probably couldn't delete that post fast enough!!  lol

I usually love the halftime shows and look forward to them, but this year's was probably the worst I've seen.  Maybe because I'm neither Latino or a man.  It was definitely not "family friendly".  I always love to sing along or get up and dance, but not this year.  I admire both Shakira and JLo for being in such good shape for their ages, but come on...

cal... Hope all goes well for Jim and Ron.  I got a letter from my doctor yesterday... she's been on leave since September, right after I had my last appointment actually, in early September.  In her letter she said she hopes to be back in the spring... after she finished with chemotherapy.  The office has been hush-hush about what kind of cancer she has.  Shows that nobody is immune to this horrible disease.

Still don't have my new laptop up and running.  I'm pushing my luck here now.  At least I'm not getting a post like lupine's!  lol

Hi to everyone!  Hope you all have a good day!

Cal, thanks for the commercial! I loved it! And I've always liked looking at Sam Elliott! Crow never said anything about the commercials. I agree, the update pics were very nice! That squirrel is so cute!  It rained here all day but the temp was near 60. More rain tomorrow, too. Crow went to the dentist today. He is going to have what's left of his bottom teeth pulled and then have implant supported dentures made. That's what his uppers are. Dentist wants to start next week. My iPad does that, too, sometimes...it types all by itself! Crazy possessed thing! Glad mine isn't the only one! Lol!

Lupe, that Iowa caucus thing really confuses me! I watched some of it last night. To me it looked like a game! Do you know why you just don't have a primary election?

Ra, wow, 77! Bet there are a lot of plants starting to bud! Hope you get your laptop up and running soon! Crow likes his new laptop. Actually it's a tablet about the size of my iPad. But a couple hundred dollars less!

Nora, thanks for the link to French Creek Freddie! Apparently Freddie is more accurate than Phil! Lol!

Hi Jp!

Have a nice evening!  :)

Daily Updates
Stripe?s Turn Today - UPDATE February 4, 2020
04 February 2020
 Print Email
Mink Stripe
Mink Stripe
The only mink I saw today was Stripe with her striped chin patch and no other markings. It?s usually one mink a day. Of the three, Stripe is the most trusting. I don?t know where Streak and Banjo go and how they decide whose turn it is for a bologna treat.

Thank you for all you do.

hi jewelies it is 26 here and no snow yet 47 in the barn stripe is very trusting she has nothing to fear in dr rogers place i am treating clear like the chiefs never give up. parade today for the chiefs and yes some people are already there it starts at 11:30

hi jp! big parade day!

Hi Rues! i know that sam elliott still handsome as ever! such a funny video looks on lil nas face priceless sams too really trying to out do each other but it came down to the horses! so funny lil nas had his speakers and boom box on his horse and told it turn it on! :) i did not watch speech election stuff last night saw it on the world news at 3 am. big mess in iowa really i am tired of both parties. tired of politics period nancy did not keep her cool very well she to me is as bad as the moron. i am into chiefs mode now forget politics. jim friend lawrence the one that got pudding and they called him puddin would not wear his teeth for a long time hurt him hard to keep in but years ago he got the implants to hold them in and wears his teeth all the time now. rick had his teeth all pulled and got dentures and has the implants to hold them in now too. good something getting done for crow that would be so painful. when we went over to rons and dee she has her own ipad and ron has his and they have a desktop dee knew someone who wanted to buy it but ron said no she said he hardly uses it but i said well its his and he wants to keep it she said yes he does. i did not know ron even used stuff like that usually he is out in the fields with his cows and he does welding on the side too but lately he has been house bound.

well griz barking nonstop

Good morning everyone- major sleep in for me today; hubby made  enough noise to wake me when he came to bed then I had a hard time getting back to sleep- got up to read- back to bed, etc,

Rues and Cal- the caucus thing really baffles me- not just that results are late but that they even have them at all. coming from Pa. where we had primaries in April I never understood this state. Never attended the caucus here and am so glad all the ads are over. Of course we'll no longer get much mail again but that's okay with us. All this campaigning this early is wasteful- so much money spent.

Love the mink photo from the update. Who would have ever thought to feed a mink bologna?

got to put my feeders out. I talked to a friend from town who has lots of feeders and he said he hasn't gone through much feed this year either. Either not as many birds or there must still be stuff in the wild for them to eat. Interestingly- I saw 5 cardinal pairs at our feeder just a dusk last night. That's a record for us. Just beautiful.

Have a great day jewelies!
