Good morning everyone- super windy here and temp is 25. We had a little flurry overnight. This morning my favorite hallmark movie is on so i'm posting early.
cal- the horse leaping from 2019 to 2020 is so cool.  My leap won't be that high. As a matter of fact i'll celebrate midnight somewhere over the Atlantic. I haven't been up til midnight for ages. Probably try to stay up til 9PM. lol

Yesterday bertha's doors weren't frozen shut- must have bee some time between rain and snow. We were in the city in the late afternoon and when we came out to head home those was frozen stuff on the windshield. Roads were still clear so no worries,

As for New Year's Resolutions- yes all of those cal- lol. Well- i'll probably still cuss every now and then. Seriously - sticking to my anti- inflammatory way of eating is on the top of my list. It's amazing the amount of educational literature is posted on the computer. Now I just need to experiment to find what works for me.

Are there any new year's traditions out there- my family always had pork and sauerkraut as soon as  Jan. 1st rolled around. For good luck in the new year.

Wishing a Happy New Year to all who read here- have a great day jewelies!

Happy New Year everyone- 20 here and quiet- no wind yet. When I went out to feed my outside guys one of them was on the porch waiting and I could hear the other one meowing to me from somewhere. I thought he was shut in somewhere, injured or cornered by whatever. So I came in and got warm clothes on and my ear muffs, got a flashlight and headed out. Tw steps from the porch spitty walks out from the summer kitchen meowing away.  He is fine- was just a but chatty this morning and was unwilling to get up early.  Well- he got me going for sure.

Of course I didn't stay up til midnight. Watching the news this morning catches me up. Yesterday I realized too late that I should have been watching the albatross cam in New Zealand. Their midnight was sometime in our morning yesterday. Bummer- I forgot. That albatross nest is fun to watch.   You think you are in some far away place though you can see a town and port far off. Then a cruise liner or container ship floats by.  They look really close but you can't hear them and they don't bother the birds at all. Beautiful, huge birds.

I managed to get my 2 projects done yesterday- catching up on my filing of "stuff". Somehow I just stack the stuff in the front of the drawer for months. Well, yesterday I dragged it all out and got it done. Also, I purged my herb and spice drawer. If the stuff in the little container is hard as a rock- I need to toss it. So a bit was added to the compost heap and containers washed and ready to be recycled.

I'm going in to the rec center at 1 to participate in a new class that will only meet once a month. Each time the class offered will be different. Today it will be a run/walk. Probably outside. I will be walking. Good way to start the new year.

Have a great day jewelies!

Happy New Year everybody!  We spent a quiet night at home as usual, a good night to do that.  Here's a little story to start off the new year.

And they say dogs are dumb. First, Chester is in love with a red/white husky from down the street. We were by the garage one day and he totally ignored me and kept going to say hi. Thankfully she was good about it. We were walking across the park one day and I saw them coming. I asked the gal if he could say hi (he was literally dragging me that direction while the gal laughed).

OK that was the background for this....I adopted a wolf for Joe through the Wildlife Federation for Christmas and they sent a stuffed wolf among other things along with the certificate. We both think it looks more like a husky the way it's colored. Joe wanted his stuffed wolf from the National Wildlife Federation on the one little table in the livingroom. Chester has left it alone and not paid any attention to it and looked like he could care less when I set it over there. (I don't get him stuffed toys, he rips them.) We were discussing the way the color on it that it looks more like a husky, but that's ok. Joe said "maybe we should add more color to it so it looks more like Chester's girlfriend" and the crazy dog went over and touched noses with it and sniffed around it's head and touched noses
again!!! We both just lost it.   :D

JP I hope you're doing well and have a great 2020 also.

Hi Jewelies! Hope everyone is having a nice New Year Day! It started out cold this morning but now it's sunny and 45. Not bad. Yesterday it was so windy and cold. That wind cut through you like a knife! Robin went to Cleveland on Monday afternoon. She and Bridgett saw Dave Chappelle that evening. Said it was fun. Yesterday morning they went to the Christmas Story House. She said it had started snowing a little which made the tour through the house even better. If you have seen the movie you know this lamp very well...

They started home after the tour because they were concerned about the snow and maybe icy roads. Bridgett lives in Columbus so they were going in different directions. It had started snowing a little harder but the interstate was clear. Finally half way home Robin was out of the snow bands and was easy driving the rest of the way. My sis and I didn't go on the train ride this year. Don't know why! So I watched tv and went to sleep before midnight! Shortly after midnight we were awoken by stupid people setting off fireworks! That made us think of Molly. Fireworks always frightened her.  :(

Cal, how cool that you googled the Smoot Theater! The first time I ever went there I saw my very first movie in a theater and it was on New Year's Eve. I was 11 maybe and I went with my aunt, uncle and cousin to see The Sword in the Stone! I had been to drive in movies but never a real theater. Love your year of the rat!

Lupe, we have the same New Year's meal that we have had since we got married...ham or pork chops, sauerkraut with wieners and fried potatoes. This year I baked a chocolate cake for dessert! Funny story about Spitty! Cats are so silly! The albatross cam sounds cool! I'll have to check it out!

Nora, great Chester story! :)

Jo and Jp, hope you all have a great New Year!

Thanks for the New Year greetings! Have a nice evening!

That's neat they got to see "the" lamp Rues!  Glad the snow let when she was driving home.

Leave it to Spitty, Lupe.  I don't know about these critters sometimes.  :D

Cute teddy Lori!

We usually have ham for Christmas, guess we never did anything special for New Year's.  Thanksgiving was turkey.  I pulled out a steak and thawed it out for supper.  Just the two of us anyway.

Good morning everyone- cal- hello- where are you- sleeping in? Really enjoyed nora's story and rues story and picture. My friend loves everything Marilyn Monroe and she has a small table in her bathroom with the leg thingie. A bit unusual  I'd say. But she loves it.

rues- glad to know you did sauerkraut too; we had hot dogs cooked in the wood stove during the Rose Bowl game- what a bummer that Wisconsin lost to Oregon by one point.  I did enjoy the Parade this year and have great memories of our trip last year. The friend who I went with last year has recently had some serious health problems and we thank our lucky stars that we did that tri p last year. She's coming along fine so far.

Lori- ty for the teddy bear and the coffee- 2 of my favorite things!

I did the walk yesterday- well- not the whole walk. As my friend and instructor was laying out the route for us I kept thinking- we only have an hour. I told her I would be lucky to finish all that by the time it got dark. Most of the other participants were 25- 40 years younger than me! Wel, we looped out from the rec center and after 30 minutes we got quite close so I opted out- got to my car and came home. I did about 1.75 miles in 35 minutes which is way faster than I walk with my friend. And this was outside in windy weather with a huge (for me) hill. Going down was great but when we turned around it was not only uphill but the wind was in our face. AARGH!!! But it was fun to get out- my friend who is in my spin class and her husband walked with me-the others were far ahead. It was a good challenge to start the year.

thinking of our people here who haven't been on for awhile- johoward and jp especially

ra- have you been partying?

Have a great day jewelies!
