Good morning everyone- when I went to bed last night it was snowing and this morning.... we have nothing. What a letdown. Just a few flakes here and there.

cal- glad you are a little better- best to stay in and do the books today. Better to stay close to a bathroom.lol  Are you trying to frink lots of water? I know sometimes even that doesn't appeal. 7-up r ginger ale?? This sounds more like a virus hanging on. Have you tried toast?

johoward- from friends  here I know doctors are reluctant to do knee replacement surgery when there are underlying health problems. Sometimes I wonder if md's realize how draining chronic pain can be. I can't figure out how they can say get your knee done and then say oh well we can't do it until March. That is a long time. All I can say is repeat nora's advise and hang in there.

nora- how long has it been since joe's first surgery? is there a date for the second? I have heard our clinic here is going to knee replacement as an out patient surgery. I think that would be good for people who would follow doctor's release orders.

baz- good to see you here

jp- hope all is well with you; miss you!

Not much on the agenda today; after spin yesterday I went to Fareway in Washington where they had my favorites on sale- T-bone steaks and cod too. So excited.

1 PM basketball and football at 3:30   Bills v. Titans  and at 7  Titans v. Patriots. Go Titans!!!

Have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies!  We've had a LOT of rain in the past couple of days!!  Flood advisories and all.

cal... Hearst has taken away my NBC station here.  The channel that I watch the most for news and favorite shows.  Sure hope it doesn't last as long as the time last summer when we lost CBS!  New shows are coming back, so it's a bad time to lose a favorite station!   So sorry to hear that you're still not feeling well.  Sickness like that sure does sap a person's energy, doesn't it?

Joho... Hoping Joan gets relief soon!   She's suffered so much!  You're both in my thoughts, too.

JP... Hope you had a nice Christmas and I'm wishing you a happy, healthy new year!

lupine and rues... Sauerkraut sounds so good!  Must be the area you're from... I have another friend that has the same thing for New Years.

Football day today!    Go Texans and Titans!  Have a good one, Jewelies!

Hi Jewelies! We, too, have had a lot of rain! Thankfully no flood issues. It was 57 this morning but now down to 48. May get snow flurries later today. Mountains are looking forward to several inches. They can have it!

Cal, hope you start feel better today. All that you've been through sure does make you weak. Then you still have all your chores to do! Wish we could help you out. Please stay hydrated. My mom always told me crying gets me nothing but a headache! She was right about that. But sometimes you just have to cry. Crow said he had some intestinal issues this morning. I hope he doesn't get it. He is a bad patient. I don't know what is up with our cable company but for the past week all the lower channels, 2 thru 29, which includes ABC, CBS, NBC and QVC, have been pixelating! Then total black screen. Makes me so mad to be watching something and then that happens. We pay over $200 a month for this! Of course that includes internet and phone but still we are supposed to get to over 200 channels. So far today no pixelating. But the day isn't over yet.

Lupe, wow, outpatient knee replacements! Back when Crow had his replaced he was in the hospital for 5 days! I was shocked that they had him up and walking later on the day of the surgery! When I had Robin I had to stay in the hospital for 3 days. Now they go home the next day! The advances in medicine are amazing!

Ra, I just saw where Manifest season 2 starts Monday at 10. Darn that's on NBC. Maybe you can watch it online until your provider gets its act together! We really like sauerkraut but for some reason I rarely fix it. Crow was wondering why I don't fix it more often...I have no idea! Lol!

Jo, I, too, hope Joan can get relief soon. It's not right that she has to suffer so. Take care.

Jp, hope you are doing ok and having a nice start to the New Year!

Nora, funny that Chester is done with his wolf!

Baz, good to see you!

Have a nice day everyone!

"The advances in medicine are amazing!"  And insurances not wanting to pay for "long" stays anymore.

Cal I know if my stomach is upset cream of chicken soup usually goes good.......

Yes Rues, Chester only checked it out that one time thankfully.  I have a little teddy bear sitting on a small wooden chair deal and he leaves that alone.  But don't give him a stuffed dog toy or he destroys it.  Maybe he's like one dog I had.  One ((Abby) was a 3/4 lab and 1/4 redbone.  The other (Lubcia) was lab and ??   Abby had every squeak toy she was given from day one.  Lubcia did not touch one of Abby's.  But give Lubcia one and within 5 minutes was tearing it into little pieces.  Those were the vinyl or whatever.  I was amazed that she never touched Abby's.  It's like she knew they weren't hers.  Dogs are smart and definitely have their own personalities and quirks.

We got about 1 1/2 inches of snow last night.  it was wet stuff that stuck to the tree branches and things, but all blowing and/or melting off today.

Hi JP!  Well wishes and hugs

OH and the one dog I had was lab/golden retriever on one side, but mom was a stray and possibly had some Staffordshire and we don't know what else.  She either had a little border collie that came out in her or Mickey had a different dad than the rest of the litter as can happen.  I had a cow collection on a cabinet and he kept stealing them.  I got him his own cow and he left mine alone.  He took the squeaker out and the stuffing, but carried the empty shell around for months.  He also liked dragging the throw rug from the entry way in.  I gave him one like that one and he quit dragging the other one in.

cal... You can fast forward through the commercials.  I have a laptop, I'll see if I can watch the shows here.  I think you have to wait until the next day...

Nora... Love your dog stories!

rues... I love sauerkraut, too, but like you, I hardly ever fix it!  I remember walking in the house when I had it in the crockpot and saying how good it smells and everyone else said it stinks.  lol

Hello Everyone! Cal so sorry to hear that you have been sick, hope you feel better soon. My poor doggie Scooter has a tick illness, the one that starts with an A, and we have been so busy trying to get him well.  My daughter has the stomach flu and feeling very poorly.  Sending you all my best wishes.

Daily Updates
Off to see Family and Old Friends - UPDATE January 4, 2020
04 January 2020
 Print Email
Tomorrow morning it?s off to the airport to visit my mother, sister, daughter and her husband, granddaughter, and old buddies from the neighborhood. I?m looking forward to seeing everyone in a whirlwind trip, returning Tuesday night late. On Wednesday, I?ll be back in the groove at my desk.

Today was mostly getting ready for the trip, but it was nice to see the deer out the window. Some are skittish. Others know the program and calmly watch me bring food. If I?m inside, I can go up to the window and watch the deer on the other side of the glass look at me and return to eating. It feels good to be accepted like I?m a harmless part of nature. Having that feeling was a favorite part of my career as I walked with bears, deer, and moose for 24 hour periods being ignored as my teammates and I recorded data in turn.

Today, I brought a big ham bone from home with enough meat to weigh 2 or 3 pounds. I set it on the snow at one of the two entrances the mink uses to get under the front deck, thinking it would be too heavy for a mink to carry off. But when I returned maybe 3 hours later it was gone with mink tracks and big wing feather patterns on the snow. I suspect that Stripe and ravens colluded to devour it. I don?t know where the bone ended up, but I like to think it is under the deck with enough scraps left on it to be on the menu for Stripe. Bologna will again be on the menu come Wednesday.

Thank you for all you do.

Good morning everyone- I am late; had a hard time sleeping last night; did you ever have a conversation with somebody during the day and then at night you can't sleep? Well, I fell asleep at the usual time but when hubby came to bed I couldn't get back to sleep. Most of the time I don't wake up when he comes to bed but last night was different. Then I started replaying 2 conversations from yesterday over and over...? Gee! So I got up and stayed up til 4 then went back to bed. Just got up and had breakfast.
cal- glad you are feeling better; taking it easy should be the order of the day but somehow I don't think you are good at taking orders! lol

Yesterday when I put out the heated water bowl it was 35 degrees and I didn't plug it in. A little later in the morning after the wind picked up I looked out to see Spitty at the bowl. He'd drink then step back from the bowl and stare at it. Twice he did this. Then I realized the water was frozen. The temp had dropped. Poor kitty. I brought it in, cleaned out the ice and refilled it. I plugged it in this time. He was thirsty.

Beautiful sunrise here right now; watching the last quarter of the Titans game on NFL channel. Go Titans.

Have a great day jewelies!
