Is that the final, cal?  I took the garbage out and came back in to the Denver game!

Daily Updates
Insulating Snow for Beavers - UPDATE December 1, 2019
01 December 2019
 Print Email
Over a half foot of snow accumulated in the last day and a half, giving the beaver lodge a true winter look with insulating snow and no sign of activity outside. Beaver Lodge
Beaver lodge
However, the wet spot near the left front of the lodge is still visible. Maybe we?ll see signs of activity yet. I?m watching and learning.

It?s been 8 days since we?ve seen Stripe the Mink. Watching and waiting. No foxes.

A week of sunshine is forecast.

Thank you for all you do.

hi jewelies! it is 26 here 45 in the barn the furnace kicked on while i was out then shut off. i hope stripe is okay now i am worried. i always thought beaver could get in and out of their fort have a way to get under the water look for food go back up to their home.

Hi JP! Did you get the advent calendar it had day one yesterday.

hi ra! no final was 40-9 raiders got a td. i saw earlier that raven  49er the end that lamar jackson for ravens wow announcers were saying who can stop them one said well the chiefs beat them but it was tied and like the chiefs did that one game ravens went for a 49 yard fg they have a great kicker and he got it as the clock ran out. so ravens won again. like to see them play brady.  who won that texan game?

Good morning everyone- great games yesterday- johoward- you are right- nothing to be ashamed of and it is  amazing how grief can take a break for football. We watched both games here on CBS. Rarely do they ever show what I want to watch. Yay for the Chiefs- now I think they play the Patriots next. So like watching Mahomes. I also really liked the Steelers 3rd string quarterback. He has quite a following now.

nora- your candy cane wreath is beautiful; and Chester checking out the food while giving you a hug- so cute. Your description of the shoo fly pie was great- we had a dry bottom. I think the wet bottom would be hard to pick up to eat. Like soggy pizza.lol

ra- too bad we don't live closer- I have no talent in putting together the tops but i'm good at being knotty.lol

cal- have been doing the advent calendar- ty

Time for breakfast- still dark out. Have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies!  Man, is it cold here!!  Got my power bill yesterday... twice as much as it was the month before!!   How can that be right?  Winter hasn't even started yet!

cal... the Houston/New England game was exciting to watch...especially if you're a fan of the Texans.  Watson did a good job...so did their defense.  Working on your Christmas cards... yours is always my first one!  lol

lupine... When you have your "knotting party", is the quilt completely done?  I've read that you're supposed to do the ties before the outside edge is done, but I always do the edge then the ties.  Just wondering if I'm doing it completely wrong.  lol

Quiet here today... Hugs to all who need them... and Hi to everyone!

Daily Updates
Cold Weather and a Warm-hearted Ted - UPDATE December 2, 2019
02 December 2019
 Print Email
With the temperature at minus 15?F just before dawn, I wondered how Ted was doing. I stopped by mid-morning to say hi and see if he had frost on his face. He didn?t. Ted bear
Ted
He was resting with his face buried in straw, sheltered by an arm, mostly out of sight beside the entrance.

Lynn and TedAs I approached he lifted his head and looked but soon tucked it back into his warm pocket in the straw. I said a few things, including ?It?s me, bear, without seeing a stir. Then Spencer retrieved a bowl half buried in the entrance and Ted got half up to see what Spencer was taking and maybe to show me his thick coat. Then came the moment I will treasure when he briefly looked at me and said his warm-hearted uh-uh-uh. I should have made contact. Bears make that sound when they want contact, but somehow I thought he might want to get back into his warm position.

Ted
Cam screen captures
I was surprised at the good detail in the webcam pictures that cam watchers captured.

I left happy that he had greeted me so nicely. Ted is the sweetest bear I?ve ever known. He is delighted to have people nearby in summer and winter. With few visitors stirring his warm heart during these winter months, I suspect he is looking forward to May when groups will brighten each day.

Thank you for all you do.

Good morning everyone- 30 here and should be nice today; yesterday we had sun!!
cal- a also loved the update. I check Ted several times a day and thought it looked like a human had been in there. I would love to snuggle in with him- he does look warm. I usually have a difficult time figuring which end i'm looking at. This morning it looked like he had hiccups- thought I was looking at his butt- then he lifted his head- my mistake.

After walk and class today hubby and I go to the dentist- we are just getting cleaning today. I scheduled it for 11 AM and then we'll go to lunch. Maybe some grocery shopping and probably a stop at Menards.

ra- the way we did the tying the quilt wasn't done. Karen does the outside edge after knotting. Probably both ways okay if it looks good. I sure am no expert.

Have a great day jewelies!
