Cal, that's the coolest horse wreath! Nice that it lights up! Did your purse get burned? Were you able to still use it? That's scary. Boo was able to turn on my old stove when he would jump up looking for food. I don't think he can do that with the one I have now. Anyways he has a hard time jumping up now. I know that Andy episode so well! Poor Aunt Bee! It's Sandy's favorite episode. You mentioned you would trip over a rug...I did that very thing yesterday afternoon at Robin's. I was helping her move her Christmas decorations from the basement up to the dinning room. I was talking and carrying a trash bag with a 3 ft fake tree in it. I tripped on an area rug and went flying into the basement wall! Bumped my head, rammed my hand into the wall  and then fell onto the tree. The tree has fiber optic lights on it. I was sure I trashed the tree but it still lights up. I didn't fare as well... today I have a bump on my head and have been sitting with the heating pad on my back. My arm is sore, too! Man, this getting old sucks. It's raining here now. They said it would rain all day but they got that wrong because it didn't start until about an hour ago.  How is Polly?

Lupe, don't think I'd like shoo fly pie. I'm not a fan of molasses either. But I love pecan pie though! When we were kids we played rummy with grandma. If we won she would give us a couple of those Kraft caramels. Other than that, I've never been a big card player. I think because I always lose! Lol!

Jo, Crow's spirits must be very high today because he has been watching 3 games at the same time! One is on his tv, one on his computer and the other on his iPad! His teams must be doing well because I haven't heard any cussing!

Have a nice evening everyone!  :)

HI Jewelies!  Beautiful day today... I only went out to get the mail!  lol  I've been watching football all day and I put up my Christmas tree and all the trimmings today, too.  I'm tired.  Glad Clemson beat the Gamecocks by a lot and also glad my Clemson grand got home safe and sound.

Watching the KState/Iowa State game now.  Wow!!  Iowa State has some wild helmets!! Never saw that color before!  lol  Lupine...what are the school colors? I haven't eaten much today... been too busy, but I did have some chicken for lunch.  Tigers always eat chicken during the rivalry game.  lol  Did you guys see Auburn/ Bama play today?  High scoring game! Coach Sabin was quite mad!!

cal... Your horse wreath looks good!  Funny that the girls were telling it off!  lol

lupine... Not so sure about the shoo fly pie...  Sounds very sweet!  My favorite pies are any with berries in it!

rues... Ouch!  Hope you aren't sore too long!!  Did you scare Robin?  My daughter would have freaked out if it was me!  lol  Guess Crow is getting all his football in now, the season will be over before we know it!  lol  Supposed to rain all night here, then get real windy.  Maybe the wind will blow ALL my leaves away...  I can only hope.  lol

Hi to everyone!  Hope you've had a good day.

Daily Updates
Chickadee Highlight - UPDATE November 30, 2019
30 November 2019
 Print Email
Chickadee on Lynns Hand 12-3-10

The big highlight today was hungry chickadees after a slow start. About noon, I stepped out the door to see if any chickadees would respond to a handful of sunflower seed hearts. None were in sight. Then there were 5, 10, and around 15 when I lost count, but they were checking the usual places where I put food. None came to me. After 5 or 10 minutes, I moved to one of those places. A couple landed. Then more landed. After a few minutes of the others getting comfortable with me, 12 landed one after the other in one minute and 32 in 3 minutes. I suspect some of these were repeats because it usually takes only a couple minutes to eat a seed.

I can?t remember a flurry of landings like that, although I did have 17 pine siskins on my head, shoulders, arms, and hands at once, but I cheated on that one by standing where they had been flocking to a manikin just moments before. Most of the chickadees today seemed to be learning for the first time, and learning faster than I would have thought. Then I put out lots of seed in several spots to last them and the red squirrels the rest of the day. I think this flock got educated today for the rest of the winter. We?ll see as we go. But none are as educated as some of the chickadees people see on the behind-the-scenes tours at the Bear Center. They come very close to anyone who walks up there, and if you hold out your hand, they immediately land on it just to check. The picture is not from today, but it is the same hand and the same place back on December 3, 2010 in the year when so many of us first bonded together.

I heard a nice thing today when one of you told me how soothing it is to watch Ted sleeping comfortably in his chalet. I believe he turns 23 in a month and a half.

Thank you for all you do.

Good morning everyone- 35 here and flurries in the area. Late night last night- congrats to your wildcats cal- good game!

We were invited to my niece's to help knot some quilts. My niece who lives in San Francisco is quite a quilter- crafter. Luckily these weren't quilted just knotted and it went fast with 6 of us knotting and one getting the needles ready. Then we had turkey soup and salads. Didn't eat until 5:30 so we missed some of the game. I was really surprised that I could sleep well- probably the two glasses of wine I had.lol

cal- I missed the proposal- did she say yes?

Iowa State helmets new- colors are yellow and red.

Steelers play at noon -against Cleveland- probably lots of people watching hoping to see repeat of fight a couple weeks ago. But I hope no fights- just good hard fought game.

We are hoping to stay at home today- reallt didn't want to go out yesterday- really dreary and coming home after supper it was so foggy.

Have a greatday jewelies!

Gee Cal that dog looks so laid back, too, to destroy all that stuff!  Who else ended up singing that dog shame in their head.  Love your horse head wreath.

Ra that's too bad your sewing machine is giving you fits now of all times.  I bet they're nice quilts.

Sometimes when I'm cooking something Chester will come out when I'm leaning against the other counter and put his feet up on me to get a hug, but his head turns and he really checks out whatever he can see on stove with his head up higher  ;D

I thought the shoo fly pie sounded awfully sweet or rich too.  I know I love pecans, but don't like pecan pie for that reason.  It sounds like the shoo fly is actually more of a cake with a crust....  "Shoofly pie is a molasses crumb cake baked in a pie crust. The primary ingredients of the filling are molasses, flour, brown sugar, egg, and water. The addition of a pie crust makes it easier for people to hold a piece in the hand while eating it. It comes in two different versions: wet-bottom and dry-bottom."

Looking at that update from the Bear Center it must be fantastic to have all those birds landing on you at once.  Wow Ted's that old already!

Got my candy cane shaped "wreath" up today that I got when we went to the tree farm yesterday.

Hi Jewelies!  Sunny, and very, very windy.  The wind has blown all the leaves off my roof, but it hasn't figured out how to clean them out of the gutters yet.   ;)

cal... I'm not able to watch the Steelers/Browns game, but I get to watch the Chiefs!  Yay  Tonite I get to watch Watson and his Texans.  Nice of the young man to help you this morning!  Refreshing to see young people being nice to their elders... doesn't happen as often as it should.  And, NO, I don't like the mountain man look.  lol  I wish I had some chickadees to sit on my hand!!  That would be so cool!

Nora... You have a very pretty wreath!  I just got my sewing machine fixed this fall, and now it's doing the same thing it was before.  I got it going again yesterday, but I know it's only a matter of time before it messes up again.  Chester is such a smart dog!  lol

lupine... I'm inviting you to my house to tie my quilts, too.  I hate doing that part... love putting the top together, but after that, it's not fun for me anymore.  I thought about quilting some of them "in the ditch" with my machine, but now that it's messing up, I have to tie them all. I have 4 tops done, but I'm dragging my feet now.  lol

Hi rues, JP, Johoward, and the rest of the gang!

good game Lupine.  Nothing to be ashamed of today.  Now for a good game with Chiefs  hopefully on top at the end.  Looks like a good start.

Again grief takes a break for football.
