L<ou, Donna's yearling.

Greetings to all this end of July Tuesday,

Yesterday I got my car back from the repair shop.  They did a fine job and it is good to be out of the rental car.

The Marlins lost to the Braves 5-3 although they out hit the Braves.  Failure to bring runners in scoring position in.

Bears, Birds, and Beauty - UPDATE July 30, 2018

18-year-old Donna bear was my highlight of today. She looks good, acts good, and was a delight to see. Donna
Donna
Being with her, I couldn?t help remembering our beginning back in 2000 when she was part of Blackheart?s first litter. Her story is part of the Animal Planet documentary ?The Man Who Walks With Bears? filmed by Doug Hajicek in 1999 and 2000. Other bears may have been the highlights for other Black Bear Field Study Course participants today, but Donna holds a lot of memories for me.

A call this evening turned out to be the first sighting of 19-year-old RC this year. She has 3 good, healthy-looking cubs.

Out on the water this morning, mallard ducklings are getting hard to tell from adults. The smooth water gave an opportunity for pictures of water lilies.

Good morning everyone- thanks jp for the morning teddy, Lou and honey bears.
cal- isn't that engine light just annoying? sometimes I think tech advances are bogus- there is something seriously in default when the sensor that is supposed to tell us something is wrong goes kaflooey. Why add a sensor problem when a gauge would work. Jeesh! In winter I had a tire sensor keep telling me there was a problem with a tire- Stop- look- no problem. So the problem was the sensor itself. Easy , inexpensive fix but annoying.
The second day of our trip we headed west out of Colbe KS. On Monday we headed out I 80 to get out of Iowa into Nebraska- traffic was horrible and I really don't like interstates- we headed south ay Holdredge,NB and on 2 lane roads to Oakley then Colby, KS. Then I 70 to Limon, CO. We saw about 1,000 windmills between western KS and Eastern Co. We went through Colorado Springs  then to Canon City where we ate a a Sonic for lunch. Then along the Arkansas River to camp at a KOA,. It was really nice- $38- pretty expensive for a tent site but showers and a pool. Saw many rafters heading down the river. I think I posted a pic of our tent with nemo and my sleeping bag. Though the colors of nemo and my bag match I didn't plan it that way.lol
Have a great day jewelies!

hi lupe wow really nice tent with looking for nemo and nice sleeping bags looks very comfy! all that is missing is a pack of dogs! really enjoyed reading your route to colorado. long ago when i was young married to my first husband we went on tons of float trips only had two dogs and took them boobie and tom and jeanne went along with friends had so much fun. canoe and always did it go over. we went for the whole day and no nemo no tent sleeping bags along the river. boobie brought a sheet and pillows . my first husband did not ride a horse. i rode with my sister susie back then but jim rode all the time way back 30 years ago and sure had fun doing that with all our friends. now we have fun riding our four wheelers i will be taking you guys pretty soon i just did day two of harness lessons for miss penny and miss brownie. penny did so much better today!! no gator roll no howling. even took her out the side door. she would get scared stop but she did lots better brownie did really good. just stopped a couple of times even took her in the barn so i could check on pearl and sweets she saw pearl at the other end at the gate and she barked her mean bark at her and pearl said come closer........brownie said NO........we came back in tomorrow brownie will move up to getting in old smokey.

Hi Jewelies! It rained today! We got an inch and a half! Some areas south of us got lots more  rain plus 70mph winds! Huge trees pulled right out of the ground. Weather girl says a storm is coming from St Louis and heading our way. I'll take more rain just don't want high winds.

Cal, great to see Jewel and her babies! She has a beautiful family. Good to see one eyed Jack but sad that he has some problems. Not crazy about seeing his missing eye socket. Boo's nails look like Jack's. He has his annual vet visit in mid August so I'm waiting till then to get his nails trimmed. Glad to see Donna, too. The lilies are so pretty. My sister has a small lily pond that has lilies just like those. One special one, a lotus, bloomed while she was on vacation so she asked me to take a pic of it. Sounds like you are making progress with the pups and their harness training! I wish we would have worked harder with Molly when she was a pup. I would have enjoyed taking walks with her. She would walk a couple blocks then start jumping up and twirling around and trying to bite the leash. That's not much fun so I quit taking her on my walks. She would rather play ball with her dad. Did you see that there is a new Magnum PI series coming this fall?

Jp, glad you got your car back! Hope the ac works!

Lupine, good to see your post! Glad you had a nice vacation. Can't wait to see pics! We stayed at a Motel 6 in Hardeeville, SC, years ago. It was ok. It was the first and only time I have ever been in a saltwater swimming pool. How's Tank doing? Bet he missed you.
