Hi Jewelies! It is hot here, too! High 90's expected until late next week! A chance of rain Tuesday and Wednesday.

Cal, glad your eye appt went well! I need to go sometime soon. I'm sure my vision has changed.  I think it's been 2 years since my last visit. I don't mind going to that doctor. He is a cute little guy who is dating a friend of Robin's from jr high school. Seems so weird. Jill has a bunch of animals! Glad her goats aren't unruly! Lol! Great pics from Katmai! Dr Rogers grand Veronica is cutie.

Jp, what a sweet pic of Minnie and baby. Can't believe how fast June has gone by. Wish time would slow down.

Lupine, we had a huge green fan that sat on the floor when I was a kid. We would sit in front of that thing and talk into it to see how silly our voices sounded! When I was in high school my dad bought a window air conditioner. My sister and I thought we were something because very few in our neighborhood had one. My dad worked shift work at the glass factory and sleeping during the heat of the day, when he had worked the night shift, became hard for him to do as he got older. My mom hated ac because it clogged her up! She got congested and her nose ran like crazy. She couldn't tolerate the ac in the car either. Glad I don't have that problem!

Dr Jeff is on! Stay cool Jewelies! :)

Second Place and Getting Closer - UPDATE June 30, 2018
 Print  Email
At the Bear Center, the power was off again today as the electric company works to restore power after the biggest blowdown I have ever seen. storm damage in Ely
Storm damage in Ely
Things are even worse in the Wildlife Research Institute area 15 miles west of the Bear Center. The electric company is figuring 5-7 days before power is returned here. Thank goodness we have a generator that powers our computer, printer, refrigerator, and some lights, so I can work.

Scott and Petey hard at work
In the voting contest to show our appreciation to Former Commissioner Allen Garber and Former Assistant Commissioner Kim Bonde, now Allen?s wife, Kim Garber, Lily Fans are showing their strength. As stated in the June 28 update, Allen and Kim made possible everything we?ve been able to do for bears since 1999, and that includes the research, the documentaries, the Den Cams, the Bear Center, and the very existence of Lily Fans and all that you have been able to do for bears and the area where they live.

More downed trees and power lines
Since the last update, you narrowed the gap between first and second. First place now has 1,003 votes. You have boosted Allen and Kim closer with a new total of 706 votes. At this rate, with all of us voting once a day, we can pull ahead by the time voting ends on July 5. We can each vote once a day.

Here?s how to vote:

Go to https://1.shortstack.com/9LvPZK/n6wMR?w=68293976&e=191531563

Scroll down past the form (that is for entering the contest) until you see the photos.

Click the heart in the vote box under the photo: Camp?in and Uke?in (which will be at the top of the list)

Type in your mobile number

Click on Send Code

Look on your cell phone for the six number code that will be sent to you.

Type in that code to register your vote.

Click on ?Confirm and Continue?

I?m on pins and needles. The first place leader jumped up 160 votes over night to reach 1,000. We can each vote once per day. The contest ends on July 5th.

Thank you for all you do.

Fern with her family.  Clover, Clyde and Cletus.

Happy July all.

I did a major oversleep.  I guess it was in celebration of a Marlins win over the Metts.  They are now in 4th place in their division and  out of the cellar  for the first time this year.

Bad damage in the Ely area from the storm.  I hope all the peope and bears are safe.

hi jewelies! it is 72 here and no humidity. just stopped raining but i think could rain a little more today.  big storm hit ely for sure. so sad about the trees. hate that. yay for scott and petey and good dr rogers has a generator back up for his cabin hope the bear center has one too.  that is a long time to  not have power. must of been a huge blowout since biggest one dr rogers can remember. good no bears or no one was hurt! must of been scary for the animals though.

hi jp! are you over sleeping cause you watched your marlins? i did not watch my royals they played late and good i did not they lost anyway.  the decorah cam showing past stuff on the y pretty sad to watch really so i went to check the katmai cam past video there too so i went to check the mallory square memory ran out off the air there so i said okay go post.

hi rues! i remember sitting in a fan and talking into it too! :) lol i sure do.  put playing cards in my bike spokes.  jill has a ton of animals. she never watches tv only the news here and there at night when she is finally done with all her chores. they bought their place where the old rodeo was. and jill told me to run it they had to give about all the money back to them. no rodeo. she had a huge outside arena right next to her huge huge barn. they replaced the fence all around it to a really nice one. can ride around it can ride inside barn or on their land they take trail rides all the time. their horse trailer wow wee. take the girls and they have living quarters in there too. really nice.  i did not have ac till i married steve and we had a window unit .  cant be without one now nor can pearl or sweets or those rotten raccoons or those birds.

hi lupe! i finished my twisted prey yesterday and boy that was a good book. finished reading once is not enough read it lots of times years and years ago it was so good too. love all her books. how is harry doing?

hi to all you guys!

Well huh- could have sworn I posted this am. Tank was helping me so who knows where it went. Sleptin after thunder woke me at 2:30- up for a couple hours- we only got a quarter inch of rain. Went back to bed and slept in. Not as hot today- we went out to eat then shopped at the outlet mall. I got undies, a pair of bermudas- yes they were actually labeled berms and red and black flannel shirt for $4. We ate at Arbys then stopped at a local ice cream place for a cone on the way home.

jp- ty for the teddy and Fern and the 3 C's. Haven't seen any new cubs at Katmai yet. The older guys get to the falls sooner than the Mom's and cubs. Really miss checking on Ted and NABC.

cal- ty for eagle slo  mo videos- that is quite a flight cage and such beautiful pics. Do you know if the camera records in slo mo or can a person slo-mo it later? Probably a dumb QQ!

rues- which glass factory did your Dad work in? W.V> famous for glass- I heard a bird the other day whose flight reminded me of the card in the bike spokes sound. It stayed around a short while- never heard anything like it before.

Kind of late in the day so i'll wish for a great rest of the day!

hi jp! if that one arm bandit waved that whip around and smacked them buffalos or that mule one more time! he did not so lucky for him! that mule was  trained really good jump up on the truck bed and up top of that trailer and those two buffs really trained to do that. they went right up there. kinda scared me for all of them up there would not wanted to see those buffs or that mule fall off be okay with one arm falling off! :)

hi lupe wow did you get your undies berm shorts lol and that flannel shirt for 4.00! or just the flannel shirt still good price on it. i wear a flannel shirt every day even when it is over a 100 i wear one over my tshirt. i guess someone could video in slo mo or slo mo later jp probably knows about that. he is really smart at that stuff. i got a bird sits on our roof and we have a really big high pitch roof no getting on this roof it makes alot of noise at the end it jumps up makes a kitty noise.
