OK, so I didn't do much thinking that I wanted to share last year.
Thanks to Pagent, I have something to pass on to you.
As most of you know, I have a very soft spot in my heart for Australia. This is their brush fire season. This year it's Victoria that's doing it tough. Koalas are especially hard hit by fires. Once they recognize the danger, they are so slow moving many die. The "lucky" ones get out with badly burned feet. The koala rehabbers put out a plea each year for mittens to keep the bandages clean and burn ointment on their paws.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-01-08/paw-protectors-needed-for-koalas-injured-in-sa-victorian-fires/6007038 Not many of us live near Plympton, dropping off mittens isn't an option.
Since not many of us outside Australia keep koalas as pets (let's face it. Eucalyptus trees are hard to grow in most places in the US), this pattern
http://www.ifaw.org/sites/default/files/default/KOALA-MITTENS-PATTERN-A4.pdf might work for dogs and cats with injured paws. Your local Animal Shelter might like some. Check with them first; they may do the baby socks and Vetwrap covering.
Let me translate some of the verbiage.
