Shep, I can hear peeping also!  The peregrine on the eggs  sure isn't showing them or getting off for the other to come and sit.  Maybe this afternoon.

Yes, Shep, we have a chick hatched at Spartan Stadium.  About 3:30 PM, one brought a black bird as food for the chick.  Chirping all around.    :D

May 7, 2024
Glad you caught a feeding!   :D
This pair may be new parents.

5 am  Mom left to get prey, returned.
She's feeding them, chupping to them, I hear them. . . .
BUT SHE'S BLOCKING MY VIEW!

Shep, three of the eyeases have hatched as of noon my time (an hour earlier than at MSU).  This camera doesn't have closeup capability so it's hard to tell.  But watch the rewind and zoom on the pics if you can.  They are cheeping and eating, and expecting another hatch soon.

3 CHICKS!
May 8, 2024
5 am  Mum is feeding all 3 perfectly.
Adorable.

7.45 am  She's feeding again.
She stands so far back - she fells on her face!
Dad standing inside with chicks, watching every move.

The adorability factor here is very high

The 3 eyases are looking OK and eating and cheeping.  Parents are keeping them well-fed and protected.  The fourth egg might have pip or crack, but not hatched by 2:00 this afternoon.

Three babies seem doing well, parents taking good care.  The fourth egg is still unhatched as of 10:30 this morning.

That egg wont hatch now.
Several bird cams have had "lost" eggs this year....  more than usual.

This pair is SO CUTE!
Dad is so curious about his kids.
They are a pleasure!

Sure is a NOISY area!!

Sadly, you are probably correct about the egg not hatching.  The parents will eventually remove it or the shell will break as the eyases grow and move around.  Birds definitely have a life filled with challenges and setbacks.  Still, we are delighted to have three more little peregrines in Michigan.  May they thrive and prosper.

Happy Mother's Day

The MSU peregrine parents are busy raising three healthy-looking eyases.

As predicted, the unhatched egg looks cracked and damaged this morning.  The 3 hatchlings are doing fine and growing really fast.

Some females will eat the egg - it replaces calcium.
