The Norths spent the night on Love Branches and were there at daybreak.  They flew to creek trees, to make way for two red squirrels to visit the nest from about 9:00 and for about an hour.  Catch the rewind for many closeups.

That's a great video, thanks to Ginger for posting it!

Misty and warm today, not much happening at DNN by noon.

You're welcome, STL.

Just one nest visit so far today (at 9:32 a.m.).  DNF brought in a clump of grass and Mr. N. brought a cornstalk.  Both did some aerating.  DNF perched for awhile across the stream.

That was a really nice fly-in with the cornstalk for MrN!  Thanks, Ginger.

Yep - still 2023 ....   ;D
I hear turkeys - and some kind of 'screaming' - ?

Since I have both this and Decorah cams up,
I am not certain which cam has the sounds.

Shep, sometimes the sounds from the cameras fool me and I think they're coming from my back yard!

DNF has been on and off the nest this morning.  Just before noon, she brought a fish for lunch.  MrN came to the nest, but too late for lunch.

More fishing activity early afternoon.  Right after DNF's bath, MrN was fishing from the Brush Pile. He dived in and caught a trout, carried it to a branch below the nest and called for DNF.  She flew by but didn't stop to share.  He continued calling and finally ate the fish.  Then he flew back to the creek for a drink (maybe a quick dip, too).  Should be video of the fishy action or catch it on the rewind!

Skiff of snow overnight, melted on the ground by 10.  The Norths perched together on the BPT about 8:30 AM.  They both left for other trees, then MrN came to the nest just picking around at 8:45, then left.  DNF on the nest for more picking at 11:30, and was just testing the fit when MrN landed. They both flew away and neither brought anything new as of almost noon.

DNF brought something furry for breakfast on the nest about 8:00 and spent a couple of hours picking at the carcass.  Guessing a muskrat.  MrN joined her to watch, pick at the nest, and nibble when she moved away.  He carried off the remains to eat on a branch below to the right of the nest (south).  Done by about 11:00, when both flew off to the north.  Cam ops got great closeups and flyaway views.

It's a sticks and fish day for the Norths!  Better on the rewind for sticks around 10:00, then closer to noon for the fishing.

Fishing pics.  The Norths are on the far creek bed and plunge down to catch the fish.  MrN tried and missed at about 10:30 AM.  A little later, both adults were in the same location, when he plunged successfully.  He flew toward the nest with DNF following.  Lots of calling, and pics of MrN on a branch below the nest eating the fish.  DNF perched on the Yonder snag and a sub-adult in brush below her. (See pic with circles: Green = MrN with fish, Blue = DNF, Purple = Sub-a)  Closeups of MrN and the floppy fish. When he has eaten most of it, DNF flies in from his rear and he leaps away.  She carried the remains of the fish to the nest to eat it.  Later, cam ops found the sub-a perching in tall trees on the south side of the nest.
