Hi, Been a really busy past two days for me. One day I didn't even turn on laptop. Anyway ....  :)

clynn, Beautiful Hosta you bought on your birthday.

Phyl, Good news about your precious Maggie. I hope you sleep better tonight. Also good the injections are helping your knees.

karen. Good news about your fence.

tsk, Good about Tim's appointment being moved sooner. Beautiful azalea.

BL, Agreed to Sycamore tree. Idiots!

Hi to everyone not mentioned.

Update .. the first bear has arrived at the cabin. Last year had 4 or 5. The Ring camera took video at 1:28 a.m. today of good sized black bear walking path at side of cabin somewhat close to front porch. The cam is set up to speak when motion is detected saying "You are being recorded." I turn it off when we're there. Anyway the recording startled it and it ran away down the hill.

Oh and this past Monday the first male Ruby Throat Hummer came to my front window feeder.

My son from NC arrives tomorrow. He left NC this morning stopping in Virginia to camp and kayak. Last I heard he had set up camp ... had gone kayaking ... said water was freezing cold (won't use his exact words Lol) and he was warming himself by the fire with food warming at fire setup too. His wife couldn't come to visit this time. He'll resume driving tomorrow morning then arrive here.

He and family will be at my house tomorrow and Sunday. Monday he Charlie and I are planning to head to cabin till Wednesday.

Take care. SED  :)

Good Evening Beakers

A nice day here today - high of 74 - next 6 days will average 85.  The warm weather has definitely brought out people to the garden center - even selling out some items of soils/potting soils.  Working this weekend - expecting it to be very busy.

kb  Know exactly what you're going through.  Lots of $$$$$ waiting to be placed and watered.  All our rain here about 10 days ago.  Just a couple days light, short drizzle; has really been serious.  Running water in hand sprinkler cans from downstair laundry room isn't making it.  Stairs my nemesis.  Today someone is scheduled to show up to find and fix frozen outdoor faucet problem.  Key word "suppose".  Never had this prob in 50+ years.  Meanwhile almost all plants in serious watering/planting crisis.

Talk about your go-to guy. . . .erggggg!  Rounded up yard work for April 28, plants - March 5; had live things waiting a minimum of day or two.  CURRENTLY HE IS DUE FOR MONDAY, MAY 12.  We'll see.  Unbelievable.  Water issue?  Niece's husband put out hose reel and mounted it on house.  He tested me (did I turn on inside valves)  and tested flow, even tested spigot.  BUT - spigot is now frozen; no one can turn it on; won't move a centimeter.  Then too remember my arthritis problem and healing broken wrist.  Macho neighbors - nothing.  Hope my handy man shows up today with any kind of solution, just so I have some water some how.

Comments and feedback can be most irritating, i.e. did I turn on the water inside.  YEAH!  Then, the yard guy telling me you can't plant flowers/garden this early in the area.  I had to counter that -  I taught in the Chicago schools for 30 years.  They have their spring break at end of April.  I always planted and did yard on my spring break!  In 53 years never got frosted out!  Did, and still do, have to protectively cover or move some things, but only maybe 4-5 times.  Never had a total freeze out, never.  And. . .this from Morton expert helping me this year, Morton about 5 miles from me.  So exasperating KB.  Must be similar to watching our nest building and eggs laying and ending up with geese.  Imagine how birds/fowl feel.

Thanks all for listening to the pissing and moaning so early in the day.  Just venting . . .

I had been wondering  about the snow leopard cub, Clynn.

More information on Ling Xiaozhe  snow leopard cub recovering for survival,  at the Qinghai Wildlife Rescue and Breeding Centre at the Xining Botanical Garden, in Xining, China.

The  most recent video 4-18-2025,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkEBeuTgJU4

Xinhua reports that the snow leopard cub, Ling Xiaozhe, was rescued and is still alive, but will likely live in captivity. While the ideal outcome is always returning rescued animals to the wild, Ling Xiaozhe's young age and desensitization to human interaction mean that reintroduction isn't possible. The cub is currently recovering at the Qinghai Wildlife Rescue and Breeding Centre in Xining, China.

Good Morning Beakers!  It's Caturday!

Phyl, interesting prairie after the rain 365! Thanks for the updates on the snow leopard cub, at least he will be well cared for. But still sad that he can never be released... Such a sweet picture of Ling Xiaozhe! Oh oh, that naughty kitty in in your morning pic!  Purr-pendicular, that's a new Purr word! And I totally agree on the cat puke temporary solution!  I am so glad to hear about Maggie!! Old age is her only issue, I am glad there are things to do that will make her more comfortable. I would do the monthly injections in a minute! Is Jim's cough gone? And how are you feeling (besides your knees)? I bet you haven't been able to keep up on the Bluebirds this spring, too much going on. I think the finch that had 3 eggs in my hanging basket has abandoned the nest. Too much front door traffic?

Lani, hope you have a good convention today! It's nice that Aly helps you with your honey-do list, I am still doing that for my Mom and I usually have a couple of things for Erin to do when he's here! Aly's new job? I must have missed that!! I am glad she has opportunities!

oldguy, yes, looks like we have several days of higher 80's temps starting today! Then some 70s and even a couple of 60s. I went to Menards Wednesday during the day and it was busy! Everyone is getting the itch to get things planted!  Loved the cat memes video, still have to get to the others!  Thanks!

Paulie, what a wonderful Mother's Day for you, your son's visit!! Very interesting about the bears, have you ever seen any when you were at the cabin?  I bet your son loves the cabin, he sounds like the real outdoorsy type, camping, kayaking, hiking and all that! My sister and her partner in Oregon are like that, anything to be out in nature!

kb, wow on the Tulip House, it draws quite a crowd! Pella, IA had their Tulip Time Festival last weekend. There are more than 300,000 blooming tulips during the three-day event! It also draws quite a crowd!

tsk, your azalea is so beautiful! I have never seen one that full!  The calibrachoa will fill out beautifully soon!  I got my two baskets of Impatiens planted for the front porch, and the two planters of coleus planted on the deck. Ignite and Flame Thrower and the names this year! I will get some more done today. Is Tim getting nervous about the upcoming procedure?

Lisa, glad to hear you have the flea problem taken care of!  Have you planted your flowers yet? I am in the process of planting, along with working on the Mole Hole. Ed is very slow at the process. Work 30 minutes, then a 3 hour break, So it goes...  ::) ::)
