I watched the 'conclave' coverage on FNC. What a surprize to have The Church elect an American Pope---
Cardinal Prevost  the now Pope Leo XIV. And, yes from Chicago, IL USA .All I thought of was y ou, Tsk and how thrilled  you must be...I was in tears hearing an American Pope the first in  The Church's history.

Tsk- wonderful news for Tim!

Lisa   Bradley's surgery -- great news! ;  I am tuckered out.  My knees won't  stop giving me 'grief'  until 3 weeks after my last injection on  May 20th (Tuesday) ---then   about June 10th. Oh happy day!

Tig Congrats to your step-daughter on her college graduation   safe travels there and back home

Lani tks for the TTR update and photos

Early vet appt for{{{ Maggie}}} Friday.  Jim gets off early that day and he said he'd drive us.
Sooooo...

Wishing all my fellow Beakers a Good Evening and a Good Night...SEDs !

Tsk!  Good forTim!

Dogs and cats both have allergies to fleas. I had dogs with those allergies and it’s no fun for them or for the person dealing with it. Good news for Bradley and I hope he follows directions if not from his doctor from tsk!
Going to bed as the day has been a bit hectic, had carpet cleaned and the sofa in the kitchen that I sit on all the time cleaned it just now dried so the day has been kind of weird. Piper was not happy with the arrangements with the wet sofa and she didn’t have any idea where she was going to sit. She got so mad she would ignore me anyway she’s  Better now that she can perch on top of the cushion by the window
Leilani, I am so glad you have your family minus Shannon with you. Have a good visit.

Oh, The pope is from the southside, but he is in Chicago cub fan. Yay.

I watched Vatican along with millions of others.  Couple of facts not often mentioned.  Both  Pope Francis and Pope Leo went to Loyola for college, at the same time.   News was good for USA and Chicago - First time for both.  Pope Leo was well known and appreciated for the behind the scene advise with which he aided and counseled Pope Francis.  He must have spent a lot of his time on northside Chicago while here.  Anyone hear of what parish he was with in Chicago.  My brother/SIL both worshipped in the area.  Mostly St. Michael's; they married there.  Known as St. Michael's Old Town, not the downtown parish (Old St. Michael).  Actually Old Town is original - survived the big Chicago Fire of 1870's.

I also heard one commentator say that in person the Pope was speaking Spanish - not Italian?  Any one else hear that?   I'm sure locals will be relaying lots of details of connection facts between Pope Leo and Chicago.

Don't remember if I ever told - I grew up in Old Town area about 10-12 years, that was when it really got run-down and tacky.  Parents were not pleased.  Moved south to SW side around Midway Airport area about 1956.  Through the years (until 1970's) I lived and schooled there; left the city 1971 for beautiful downtown Darien.  Well, that's all for memories; thanks for your patience as I stroll down memory lane.

Did learn tenets of two churches - Dad was Catholic, Mom Lutheran.  Two brothers, Catholic..  Me?  Studied for both churches, decided on Lutheran.  Younger sister - not really either one.

Pope Leo graduated from Villanova with a degree in math. During his address today from the balcony of the Vatican, he spoke in Italian and Spanish. He is said to speak 5 languages, and reads 2 more.

I find it interesting that Pope Leo XIV spent most of his priesthood outside of the US.  He was hand picked by Pope Francis for his positions in Peru and Rome.  His most recent work was to create a list of candidates for new Bishops world wide.  He never served as a parish priest.
