March
by William Cullen Bryant

The stormy March is come at last,
With wind, and cloud, and changing skies;
I hear the rushing of the blast,
That through the snowy valley flies.

Ah, passing few are they who speak,
Wild stormy month! in praise of thee;
Yet, though thy winds are loud and bleak,
Thou art a welcome month to me.

For thou, to northern lands again,
The glad and glorious sun dost bring,
And thou hast joined the gentle train
And wear'st the gentle name of Spring.

And, in thy reign of blast and storm,
Smiles many a long, bright, sunny day,
When the changed winds are soft and warm,
And heaven puts on the blue of May.

Then sing aloud the gushing rills
And the full springs, from frost set free,
That, brightly leaping down the hills,
Are just set out to meet the sea.

The year's departing beauty hides
Of wintry storms the sullen threat;
But, in thy sternest frown abides
A look of kindly promise yet.

Thou bring'st the hope of those calm skies,
And that soft time of sunny showers,
When the wide bloom, on earth that lies,
Seems of a brighter world than ours.

tsk, I not only watched but I sent it to Erin, Talon is real interested in Eagles! I couldn't believe how long the sub-adult stayed on the nest! DNMom did  great job of protecting her eggs! I wonder if the intruder would have tried to break the eggs if he had access...

Phyl, tulips this morning! Cute little worm at the end! Nice March poem...

The women's bball tournament has started. I watch UConn, as the star player is from MN.

For maybe the second time in my life I made a pot of old fashioned white rice tonight. (I usually use the instant individual cups). The rice went well with the enchiladas.
Tomorrow morning I'll make Arroz con leche. My Mom used to make cold rice with raisins and milk and cinnamon sugar. How a 100% German knew about the Mexican dish, I don't know.

SED

Sounds just like my recipe - for rice pudding!   ???   I haven't made that for years.  Truth be told it was my SIL's recipe, who was Polish?  I'm multi = American.

tsk - I watched it....and, was shocked how long the juvie hung out!

yeah, I dislike moving the clocks forward. I'm for keeping standard time year round. Probably will never change as it's a 50/50 deal.

Sat in the sun for an hour with temp at 43 yesterday!...protected from the wind on my lower deck. Ollie enjoyed hanging out with me in it for sure.

We have the promise of a week of spring - temps from 50's to 70's for the week, sunny skies, too.  THEN - back down next Sunday.  Will feel g00d!

Sounds like good week - and a lot of rice pudding, for most of us.

Good morning all.  Enjoy the day!!!

Good morning and thanks for the posts see Glen I love the lavender I did watch the day and then video and thought it looked like a very hungry sub adult seem to be wanting the nest overs and I don’t think would mess with the eggs. Sorry for him or her.
It is a dark rainy day today regardless of whether we’re on standard or daylight savings time it is still dark for the hour temps are in the high 60s in about 68 so it isn’t cold. I think tomorrow is supposed to be a repeat of today, and I haven’t looked to see what the rest of the week will bring.
I made a pot of chili a couple weeks ago and put it in the freezer and have been taking out a container every once in a while I like it the rice pudding that you all talk about I think it’s 2 to 2 varieties one is an actual pudding and the other is rice with milk and cinnamon, etc. but not actually I put it as there’s no eggs in it. I had both as a child eggs are a little more than a dollar a dozen. In Panama friends in Springfield are there and find groceries very reasonable
Lenny, I’m glad you’re home safely and hope you got a good nights sleep anxious to hear if there is still snow in your area
Phyl, Interesting poem about blustery March no word on your knee
Best I don’t think you were happy with last nights basketball results
Clynn, Enjoy the day of the eagle watching good deal

Happy Caturday!

I'm watching Lani's Jayhawks for her while she's in Tucson. 3 minutes left! I won't mention the score in case they are recording it to watch later. Or maybe they're home now. My team plays starting in 10 minutes.

I made a batch of chili a few days ago, and finished it for lunch today. It was yum!

Have a good night, All. Peace. SED.

Thank you {{{BAZ!!}}}  I bet you brought us luck. I won't ask you to do this if we make it in March Madness this year (which I really doubt, Lord we had a bad year  :-\ ) ... darn those Blue Devils, sorry about that.  :(

Oh yum!! My mom made this in Hawaii, without raisins, it would be our breakfast, if we didn't have oatmeal or eggs. We always had white rice  ;D

Sunday Blessings Beakers!
Hello Eagles4, Lisa, Ezee, Eburg, Weasel, Jilltosa, Kb, Tsk, Karen, Oldguy, Puff, Eaglesrock, Emyrauld, Lilbro, Blschue, Lori, Clynn, Tig, Baz, Phyl, Peep, Jaspurr, Pink, BL, Bggolden, T40, ssrl, Maxie, Nrstooge, Paulie, jicaji, LB, and All!

Clynn, Love Guru Cat!  ;D We did have more snow Friday night. Thankfully, the roads were clear and it was absolutely gorgeous, like a winter wonderland.... Snow was gone by the time we returned home last night.... I didn't see Tim or I would have said Hi!  ;D ... Tucson has grown, Mexican luncheon was delicious!!! I brought a doggy bag home, for me.  ;D  lots of traffic driving into town. It was slow going on I-10 we came upon two car accidents. So we were late for our meeting, but they couldn't start without me, since I was leading it. LOL!! ... the munchkins look like their having a good time.  ;D .. beautiful California Poppies, hopefully, highway 87 down to the valley will be sprinkled with them this spring... what great eagle pics the kids took... have a safe trip and fun time with them today!! .... get the hummingbird feeders out!!  ;D

Mike and Sadie drove me to Scottsdale (1:30 minute drive) to then drove down to Tucson with a group of 4 gals and met 2 gals in Tucson.. Mike/Sadie returned to Payson to rest at home, watch KU, Etc and then returned to Scottsdale and met me at 6pm and we returned to my beautiful, peaceful green, valley in the pines!  :-* ... love the Big Bear 3 bobbleheads. I so happy for this couple waited a long time to continue their line.

The gal that was doing the driving decided we should take the back road out of Tucson to avoid the traffic on I-10... Which I have never seen. For those of you who lived here, we drove past the Santa Catalina mountains. They are stunning. New resorts, homes have been built below the mountains... drove through Oracle, past a Greek Orthodox Monastery in Florence, Saddlebrook, up to what's now called San Tan Valley, Casa Grande and Queen Creek to drop off one of the women.. lots of new buildings, golf resorts/communities, farm lands of cotton, horses, cattle/ goats/even ostriches  :o , orange/limes/lemon/peach groves, Agritourism is big in San Tan Valley/Casa Grande/Queen Creek... then up the 24 to Scottsdale and to my Mike/Sadie. We picked up Culver's butterburgers on the way home.

{{{Puff}}} yes, I remember the area you've chosen on the big isle. One of the most special areas of this historic island.  :-* .. I love rice pudding, I imagine it's why I love bread pudding too. The best bread pudding I had was in New Orleans! YUM!

{{{Phyl}}} I'm sorry about your knee  :( .. darling Caturday pics... my Milo and Norman looked like the top two when I returned home last night. Ears back, disgust on their faces and in their eyes. WTH have you been written all over their faces. Our food is cold and disgusting!  >:( LOL!!!  ;D ... We may not move our clocks, now AZ is on Pac Time, and you all are 2 hours ahead of me, East coasters are 3. All our favorite shows are an hour ahead now. We still have to adjust our schedules to fit everyone else.  :(  ... love the stain glass pieces this morning. I just ordered a puzzle with an stain-glass design of an Arizona cactus landscape. I'm about finished with my work for my women's edu group and ready to do a puzzle for a change. Get away from the computer for awhile.

Tsk, awww a very gentile/beautiful Lulu  :-* ... I was so glad to have Mike/Sadie with me on the way home. It's not a good feeling to drive North 87 up to Payson. Lots of curves and critters trying to cross at unexpecting times. And you lose internet for 45 minutes and with no highway lights from Fountain Hills to Payson, it's a bit scary. They don't even have little caution lights on the center lines...  Total darkness... your morning pic would make a great puzzle... I watched the DNN video. Poor mom, where in the heck was dad! Even the geese started howling for him!!! ... I think the sub adult was one of their kids just returning home for nestovers...

Tig, this must have been a church fundraiser. YUM!

Lisa, wonderful to hear you are at your final destination... and enjoying Louisiana cuisine! YUM!

Oldguy, thanks for links. I'll settle in tonight and watch them.... oh good grief, poor Mrs North. It took Mr North long enough to come to her aid. Even the geese were calling him!!!

Karen, Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson.. they also have the largest airplane boneyard https://airplaneboneyards.com/davis-monthan-afb-amarg-airplane-boneyard.htm
news on Aaron National Guard in 2024 https://www.kold.com/2024/03/28/arizona-national-guard-breaks-ground-new-operations-center-tucson-area/.  .... Love yesterday's cartoon.  ;D
I wish we would band the Decorah eaglets, then we'd know for sure if they return back to their nest areas in the winter...

Kb, I don't know if congress will change it either. Frankly I like it when we're only 1 hour difference from Central Time. but, whatever..

Lani - Scott and I have friends that live in the San Tan Valley...a place called Encanterra housing complex. They sold their city home and bought this oh maybe 10 years ago...they also have a summer home in Iowa....Spirit Lake.
Cause Dan has blood cancer he visits the Mayo Clinic there in AZ often and he was too cold in Minnesota is why they bought there.

We nor I have visited their home there but we have at their Spirit Lake home.

Just returned from a walk with Ollie man...snow is a melting, yah!...also did my least favorite thing in life: grocery shopping, LOL...gotta do it.
