Lisa, thanks for the story on the egg at the side of the nest.  Raccoons can be hard on eggs for sure.  Squirrels can't break the large egg shells, but a raccoon probably can.  There's a fourth egg this morning as of about 9:00, here at N1.  Far as I can tell, no eggs yet at N2B.

Looks like still 4 eggs at N1.  Mom Goose incubates while Pop Goose guards the nest and keeps her company.  Mating on the Y Branch occurred about 9:15 AM.  Don't know if this is the same pair as last year, so what do we call them?  Has RRP decided on names?

Great pics, STL

I personally call them Mother Goose and Father Goose....MG & FG for short.   :)
Going to add a few pics I snapped this morning too.

HM was seen on bluff perch for a bit this morning, close-up of MG, and FG on Y branch resting.

Lisa, I'm OK with the initials for the geese.  But initials could stand for Male G and Female G, but opposite birds!

The geese at N1 have added a 5th egg to the clutch.
HM or HD perched in a low bluff tree about 11:00.
It's very blustery in the area today.

MG & FG on N1 had lil raccoon visitor this morning.  Raccoon came up on the side branch and to the edge of nest where FG was standing, both hissed at raccoon.  Very cool view to the back of the hatchery of the clouds, and HM on bluff perch, who stayed for most of the morning.

Those geese are every bit as intimidating as the eagles with hissing and honking and flapping at intruders!

Windy day here, warmed to mid-60s.  Amazing to me that all those downy feathers stay in place as they are used to insulate the eggs.  Five eggs in view early this morning as in pic.  Will she lay one more???  A St. Patrick's Day gift   ;D

MG in IR light sitting on her 6 eggs.  The 6th egg was laid last evening a lil bit after 5:45pmCT.  Shortly after daylight, MG & FG went on break, and flew down to creek for a bath.  HM arrived on bluff perch this morning, and was seen in various spots below the bluffs. She fished the stream, and caught a big fish and ate it on log across the stream near fishing perch.

And today there's a snowstorm at Decorah!  The geese will probably weather it about as well as the eagles.  The Father Goose is a very attentive partner this year, spending lots of time on the nest.  He does not incubate the eggs, but keeps Mother Goose company and guards the nest.  Spring begins officially tomorrow.  Sigh.   ::)

Six eggs at N1 for these attentive geese.  I don't have a picture yet of the eggs.

And at N2B there are 2 eggs this morning at 8:15AM.  Don't know when they were laid but possibly the second egg about 8:00 AM.

STL, per the Explore Mod GABear here are her stats on N2B goose eggs.

Canada Geese nesting in N2B

Egg #1 - 3/18/25 @1:22 PM CT

Egg #2 - 3/20/25 @8:27 AM CT

Not the best pic, cause it happened all so fast, but maybe after 11:30ish the Piebald goose from last year tries to fly into N1, while MG was on nest.

Lisa, great catch!  I remember the havoc with the piebald goose last year.  Hope RRP will post a video; I didn't locate it on the rewind.  But here's a fair pic of the six eggs as MG rolls them this morning about 10:00.

STL - go to 4.25 on rewind and go backwards from there....it was very quick.
