What?  tgeday (Tuesday? today?)  of the leap?  My brain is not doing its job this a.m.

Turned on the noggin

the day the first group left. . .there's hope for me!

The egg must have been covered up or sat on each time I clicked on N1.

Sorry   :-\

N2B update as of 3:00 this afternoon.  No pips in the 4 goose eggs here.  N2BMG rolled the eggs at about 8:30 AM and again at 9:15 as she was leaving the nest for a short while.  While she was gone, an unknown goose landed on the nest then left within about a minute.  This visitor has black speckles on its chest.  Geese are moving around this morning, flying up or down the creek below the nest.

MG returned, got disturbed and left without covering the eggs.  She didn't go far because you can hear her honking off-camera.  She returned soon, and the N2BFG followed.  He stayed a few minutes then left.  Whew!  Since then, MG has been sitting and napping.

HM & HD were perching in the Pasture Tree branches at dawn today, with the new N6 nest between them.

At N1, the piebald female goose is caring for the egg laid by another goose right after the Jump.  She covers and uncovers and rolls it, but has not laid an egg of her own.  The gander at N1 is on the nest with her or very close by most of the time.  This pair is very vocal.

Morning pics from Decorah - One of the pair was perched in the pines by raceways early this morning, and tried to do some fishing.  They were both seen next perched in the trees by N2B, it looked like.  They moved across the hatchery to the fishing perch abover the creek, and then HD flew down the creek to the right to perch.

Lisa, great pics.  Good to see HM & HD around, and sure hope that N6 works out as an active nest for them next season.  I missed them perching in the "catkin" tree but got a pic of N6; it's gonna be hard to see when the leaves all come out.

Meanwhile, the piebald + pair of geese are acting like the single egg in N1 is theirs.  Maybe it will hatch in a few weeks.

At N2B, no hatching yet.  It's possible there's a pip, but I think it's just dirt on one of the eggs.

At N1, the piebald goose couple are caring for their adopted egg. She has been on and off the nest a couple times before noon.

HM & HD are nearby, perching in the hatchery pines and  also in the Pasture Tree where they are building N6.

We are opening up a Flash Chat at our Decorah Eagles site as one goose egg has a nice crack on N2B, the Goose Cam site.  Here's the link to watch the cam feed https://www.raptorresource.org/birdcams/decorah-goose-cam/ and here's the link to Chat https://www.raptorresource.org/birdcams/decorah-eagles/

Yes! The eggs at N2B are hatching this afternoon.  According to the Chat, one has completely hatched and one is partially out of the shell as of about 4:00.  On the rewind the cam ops are showing whatever N2BMG will allow!  It's pretty windy, so she is sitting tight.

Here's a pic of the first gosling at N2B in 2024, taken at 4:25PM.

Yes definitely 2 goslings out and about.

Definite pip on 1 egg and 1 possible pip on the other remaining.

I think they'll all be "out" by the end of the day.   :)
