About a week ago there was some talk of Highland cows.  Here is a farm in Illinois that breeds mini Highlands along with a few other breeds.  The photos will make you smile.  They are so stinking cute.

TGIF Beakers!
Morning Lilbro, Blschue, Lori, Clynn, Tsk, Lisa, Karen, Oldguy, Puff, Eagles, Kb, Tig, Baz, Phyl, Peep, Jaspurr, Pink, Jilltosa, BL, Eburg, Weasel, Ezee, Bggolden, T40, ssrl, Maxie, Nrstooge, Omasawyer, Paulie, jicaji, LB, and All!

Eagles, I hope you're going somewhere warm and fun!  ;D

Tsk, We did hopscotch at school or we outlined one in the ground. No sidewalks or road in our little village. We did double dutch jump rope and this one Tinikling which is a traditional Philippine folk dance. When we were kids, we did it like a game and fast! Just line up and jump in when someone jumps out... Watch the ankles!!   https://www.youtube.com/shorts/GNlKIyncsJk?feature=share

Clynn, I love shopping for Aly. She has always been the adventurous one, we both enjoy trying new things. And  Mike and Shannon are easy to shop for, they're picky, so I know their likes/dislikes. Shannon prefers gift cards. If I don't make it down to the valley I do online shopping at World's Market for Aly or I shop in Pine or small antique shops up here.

Phyl, beautiful and cute Jim Brandenberg nature vid. Love his videos. I hope the skies are clear for us to see the meteor shower.

{{{Kb}}} hugs and prayers ... awww the power of cuddling.  ;D

Puff, LOLOL indeed it does  ;D

Baz, understand about rice cakes, they do taste like cardboard. If you don't drink a lot of water they do get your system in trouble. Didn't know they come in flavors. Though I like them, I haven't had them for years.

Oldguy, Maru  ;D ... thank you for posting the link to Derek Paravicini and Adam Ockelford. Derek's ability highlights what we don't know about the human brain. Mike had an older cousin who though not blind, was learning disabled/autistic. Of course back in the 40's when he was born they didn't know anything about autism. His cousin loved math and playing cards. He would play Gin Rummy, Canasta and Hearts. After Mike's uncle/aunt passed away a relative put him in a home. He died a few months later.  :'( He was a sweet gentle soul.

Mornin' back to you Lisa.  Following saga of the lights.  All these years/cats I never had bulb retrievals.  Puff did like to round up/ pull off an ornament for himself and sleep on the tree skirt with it.  Also they all seem to like rumpling up the skirt to lay on it.  Keep us up to date on the light capers.

Hi to E4E, enjoy the 70's.

Doing nuttin' but reading/relaxing today.  Still only finishing my 2ndcup of tea.

Puff and other Beakers - An early Happy Thanksgiving wish to you all.

On Thanksgiving Day we start our journey to the South. We are headed to Buenos Aires, Ushuaia (the furthest south city in the world) and then to Antarctica.  It will be the adventure of a lifetime.  We can't wait to see penguins (up to 3 kinds), sea lions, whales and many varieties of birds.  Not sure if I'll do the polar plunge though.

Wow Weasel!!! Safe travels...

Standing for a half hour to pick up leaves did me in this morning. Luckily, I had a nice workout in the pool first. The yard waste site sure was busy at the 11 a.m. opening. After I warm up a bit, I'll wash the front picture window, and the back storm door window again. Then, I'll resume deep cleaning the kitchen.

Pepperoni for him and chicken pizza for me tonite.

HAGD

Lani... Aw. Hugs for Mike and you. It still stings, I'm sure.

Have decisions to make, hmm, not that good at it since Scott died:

Sell my jacuzzi?...guys who've maintained it all these years and replaced the motor etc. said if it's easy to move.
2. leave running all winter at 85-90 degrees.

3. Don't open in the summer so can leave the antifreeze in it for next winter.

The only reason to decide these things is: The cost of putting it "to bed" has now become the same as running all winter and paying for electricity/gas.

and secondly I didn't use it much this summer, reason: too hot and drought caused me to water all summer.

Hmm, I'll have to decide next spring....flummoxed. As nobody can predict the weather much in advance.

Lisa Autumn stays until the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It all  comes down and stowed in the Rubbermaid tubs until mid Sept. I wait a week with the house looking 'normal. Then the Christmas tubs come downstairs and  it starts all over again. Decorating is subject to two factors: 1. Jim, how much and when is he willing to carry the tubs, holding the step tool and me 'steady'  ( I have  BPPV-https://www.bing.com/search?q=what+is+paroxysmal+vertigo&qs=SSA&pq=how+is+begin+proximinal+vertigo+abbrevated&sk=SSA2&sc=10-42&cvid=68B7D5B5269E4F56AA2ACC2FD8F18D52&FORM=CHRDEF&sp=3&lq=0) #2. Me, mood, time and BPPV.  The house never looks the same from season to
season. And I usually have decorations up 12 days prior to Christmas Eve. One given, it all comes down and put away on  or just after Epiphany in January (6th). Many keep Christmas season until Feb 2nd.

Weasel The  Scottish Highland cows are also bred as far south as Texas and  Georgia.    Gosh you and your hubby are certainly adventuresome . Do take care and hope have some  snaps to share w/ us here.  In case we don't 'see' you here---St. Christopher be with you  in your travels from the time you depart until your return home.

Lani that one very excited Lab !  I hope you can see the meteor shower, too. 'Cuz we have cloudy/rainy skies. So heartbreaking about Mike's cousin.   :'(
Darn near killed me to do that to Mom. But the law here wouldn't let me keep her with us at home even with Medicare approved nursing and all.
I hate 'nursing homes' and would rather die and rot in my own house instead. Jim too.   ;)

Oldguy I have sometime before tuning in for the night and will view Genius of the Keyboard.

KB  only you know what's best ;)

PUFF   That was Lucy's favorite spot on the tree skirt.  Wonder if Lulu will choose that as well.  I'm thinking not as she like to be up high.

WEASEL   Oh my GOSH  What an adventure!!  I'm sure this is through a tour - maybe about 3 weeks?  Do you know how many there will be in the group?   Now you will have us on pins and needles waiting for a follow-up report - You let the cat out of the bag  ;D ;D ;D

KB  Big expense to keep it and you have to weigh against how much you use it every year?  Figure an average cost/yr.  If you sold it - You could figure the extra money from the sale and the savings in start up/close and yearly electricity.  Big math project  LOLOL    Like LISA said - you will know the right thing to do.

PHYL   My mom and dad said no nursing home so that is what we did and hired live- in help.  When they both died at age 90 I remember their doc saying to me on the phone when I called him after my Mom died ( 5 yrs after my dad)   "They never would have lived that long in the nursing home".....We ran through all their savings and we had about $30,000 left. after about 10 years of caregivers.

BAZI   Cat getting tips from Gordon Ramsey  LOL   Hope you enjoyed your afternoon  :)

Well we never got the rain last night and into the AM and the sun came out mid AM Pretty nice day in the 50's and very windy.  Tim wanted to clear leaves but not worth it.

Tsk  Mom didn't have much speech left.  But, she understood ...heard me argue with the doctors. It was a terrible row. And, I had  Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care.
Maggie loves to sit on the crocheted tree skirt   and look at the lights and 'sing'.  :)
We got a nice soak all day long. Last mowing was 6wks ago.

You have all been busy bees all day!  Buzzing around here, your jomes and stores!
Weather wise we have had a misty, sometimes gentle rain for about three days but nothing today but clouds!  75 and will be as high as 76 with a cool down Wednesday!  Even so, No Shorts!
Weasel, Happy Thanksgiving and I am sending wishes fir a great trip!
Neighbors next door (new) are taking the fence , between out yards down and putting up a new one!  I had asked them to let me know so U could make arrangements for Piper. Ut, No!   I find out today at noon!  Stalked them until Monday but no luck with day care as it is a holiday week and everyone is full!   It will be fun to try to walk her!  She is known to slip a harness and collar! Always fun to have new challenges and experiences!
I searched Publix for single pecan or pumpkin pie a few days ago and found no e!  Googled Winn Dixie and viola!  They showed .edwards with Pecan!  Ordered it. 2 for One and now have two full sized pecan pies!   One will go home with the help Monday!  Would not have ordered this brand if I had known it was a whole pie!

The little cows are very cute but I do not know what is to be gained form all this messing with genetics!  People will not be able to keep them like the little pigs, dogs, cats, etc!
Love the stories of the cats and the Christmas trees!  Waiting for more reports!
Lisa, lovely fall picture today!
Night all, seds
