Congratulations, Family Goose, to a successful hatch of two adorable goslings and the 1st leap at 5:52 pm MDT! A minute later, the family was all together under the nest. A big shout-out goes to cam-op Snow who did an amazing job, following the entire family during this adventure! She enabled us to take stunning snapshots and great footage! These are Barbara?s clips:

Oh, Lani....my heart fell when that first one jumped.  I was praying they would be ok when they landed!  Thank goodness they both were fine.

Lani, thanks for posting!  I will watch it in a few.  I wanted to see that part but was nervous somebody might get hurt.

Lisa and Lori, I held my breathe when the first little guy did the leap! Especially when you hear their frightened peeps.
I was so relieved to see the sweet fluffballs moving together. and waiting for their parents directions. Isn't it amazing to see them jump!
So brave!!

Peaceful Mama began scolding, backed up to make room for Daddy in the nest, and they were buzzed by a large bird.
Another osprey wants to steal Dad's fish

The young should be fledging this week.

The owls are there every night as usual for Osprey off season time... they are quite comical.  Here is a gif I posted 2019, the Mrs doesn't look impressed!

Charlo Montana Osprey family Charlie & Charlotte

Hi all... so today, I was checking the Charlo Montana Osprey cam today to see if Charlie & Charlotte have returned early and I saw 2 geese on the nest.  Checked with explore.org and a new geese couple are checking out the nest today.  See video below & gif. On the video the couple is clearly having "The Beakerson's nest discussions" Note:The Charlo cam nest does not have any nesting materials to cover up the eggs if they decide to nest here.

These two Canada Geese spent ages on Charlo nest today, staking their claim, this is just some of their day! :-)

A little history since I've been watching in May 2019...
Charlie and Charlotte have built a comfortable nest on this raised platform overlooking a picturesque field in Charlo, Montana near the Charlo Great Horned Owl's  treetop home.

I first found out about this cam when I heard of a bear visiting an Osprey nest in Charlo Montana, so checked it out and started this thread https://raptorresource.org/raptorresource/forum/index.php?topic=2597.0#lastPost I took a couple shots of the bears nose peeking over the nest and his head.  No harm was done to the eggs. T40 posted an article about it and there is a video as well

June 6 2019 lightening storm thought it was cool so I shared.


On April 12th 2020 Charlie returned to find the geese had moved in and was not happy.  When Charlotte arrived she said, "it's ok Charlie, leave them be, we can rebuild on P2 (old nest)" so that's what happened.  Mama Geese little ones hatched & fledged just fine.

Charlo Montana Osprey Cam home of Charlie & Charlotte

An Osprey arrived a bit early today in Charlo!!! 



Charlie returned April 13th last year at that time the geese had already laid their eggs.  Talons crossed it's Charlie so he can start rebuilding in the nest with the camera.  "Final say so in nest location is with Charlotte of course" Hoping mama goose will find the 2nd nest P2 this year instead!  Regardless, we wish both families the best to a successful and happy season this year!

I hope so!   I think Charlie missed his perch last season, not to mention it was a little snug in the other nest Has he been sighted again since the 7th or maybe it was just an early visitor?
