Thanks jpalm!!!  Dream Lake has me dreaming about the four years I spent at Rocky Mountain National Park.  Never made it to the lake, but I might have seen it from the top of Longs Peak! :D

You probably did.  Did you climb the Diamond or go up the back trail?

Thanks again jpalm.  In my forties I was just a mountain hiker.  Didn't have much of an urge to ever get into technical climbing but I witnessed a lot of it and knew people that did.  Not many on the diamond though!  ::) ::) 8)

Opened in 1920, Old Fall River Road earned the distinction of being the first auto route in Rocky Mountain National Park offering access to the park's high country. In the minds of many park visitors, the relatively subtle old route remains foremost. Unlike Trail Ridge Road, which is well known for being the highest continuous paved road in the nation, the Old Fall River Road is a much more "motor nature trail."

I first went up this road in 1930 on a family vacation.  I have a bunch of puzzles of this road.  One way only - up.  A beautiful 11 mile motor trail.

Old Fall River Road RMNP.  87 piece Crazy.  10:41.

My first trip was in the early '90's, jpalm.  On the job, no less!  Shot in puzzle makes the road look a lot better maintained than when I went up it.  But then, in the mountains things change.  Shuttle bus to Bear Lake now.

You come back down on Trail Ridge Road, from the Alpine Visitors Center, where the Old Trail leads.  It's paved and the longest, highest in North America.  If you go East you arrive in Estes Park, and if you go West you end up at Lake Granby.

The natives tend to congregate on the road and that can bring traffic to a halt.

Nora... yep, I know... But I no longer sign in to Jigzone.  I gave up trying to upload pics to it for new puzzles.  It finally got on my last nerve - LOL - and I deleted what I had on it, and I think I deleted my whole account on Jigzone, too.  I just click on the puzzle link that's posted and work it that way.  My times aren't important to me - it's just an impatience I have with myself that I don't "file" my time for a puzzle longer than a minute or so.   ;) :D :D
