Sand Dog ...  30:25    68°  (5:26 pm)   Sunny and very light breeze.  It's a lovely day.

You are right, gun training is for everyone's safety.  If she needs to draw it out, I don't want her fumbling and unsure of how to use, and looking weak.  I think that would make her decision making better too.  I will be happy after she graduates and has the job she is training for rather than the part time job she is doing now.

I hope that you both are feeling well and are content.

A New Face and a Cute Face - UPDATE March 31, 2023

Woodchuck
This morning, a shock was looking up into a new face just outside the window maybe five feet away—a woodchuck. It was my first sighting of one this year. I suspect it is familiar here to be up on the second floor deck where the food is. I’ll have to look through pictures to see if any have the piece out of the left ear like this one. Beaver lodge
Beaver lodge
When it ran down the steps eventually, it headed first toward the hole that goes under the living room bay window and a couple minutes later was heading toward the hole that goes under the garage. Had it been hibernating under the garage all winter? This is the time of year, though, that males go on the prowl looking for mates. Maybe there’s more going on here than I realize.

There is a place across Woods Lake where that is certainly true.Red Squirrel
Red Squirrel
The beaver lodge covered with smooth snow is a serene scene that gives no outward hint that so much is going on inside. From the days when there was a beaver cam inside it broadcasting to a screen on my desk there was a pair of beavers that were often visited by muskrats. Other residents included spiders and water shrews. The biggest drama was a mink killing a muskrat and eating it in front of the camera.

The red squirrel standing up was stomping its feet and chattering at a competitor, but in the picture he looks cute. He or another one was so calm when I went out to retrieve the meat I put out for the foxes and Bob Cat last evening, of which there were no visits, that it remained 8-10 inches from my hand unflinching for a half minute as I reached out for piece after piece of meat. He then retreated into a hole in the snow a little over a foot away to peak out over and over until I started to walk away and he immediately was out eating sunflower seeds again.

I hope the foxes and Bob Cat come by again soon.

Thank you for all you do,

  Tulum, Mex. ... 27:48    81° (3:08 pm)  It's a lovely, sunny day with a bit of a breeze.

I hope that all is well with you.  I'm doing okay.

Cal ... Sweets could make that an interesting visit for your sister-in-law.  She should be wearing her running shoes.  He is a beautiful animal though.

Well, the latest about my granddaughter's puppy is that she has been given to my daughter and lives here now.  Apartment living with no supervision is not for this dog.  They are gone to work and school most of the day and Harlow is on her own to pick out what she will destroy next.  Tyler does have a Corgi and she doesn't get into trouble, that one dog should be enough for them,  we can handle Harlow over here.  She is doing pretty good and making some progress here.  We didn't want to give her to someone and have her end up being abused or thrown out because they are not up to the work of training her.  She is a sweet girl, she just needs time and patience.

Hi Joho ...

6:31  Cold now 31 only and sunny.
Yes we did go to Grafton VFW for Friday Fish.  Was great.  Shared a table with a family of senior war veteran, his daughter, and her husband.  We had so much in common it was almost scary.  He and I were the same age. He now lives in the same area I just moved out of, but has lived in Olmsted Falls and Avon Lake where I grew up for 12 years. He grew up on Cleveland's East Side in the same area and at the same time that my Joanie did.  The daughter's name is Debbie. The list goes on. He worked in many different places familiar to me.  One was the Davis-Besse Nuclear reactor where my brother took me on a recent class tour with his Ohio Sate class. Really remarkable. Was a good Friday evening.
Now my second coffee is getting cold and the paper that came in yesterday's mail, but was saved for this morning is waiting in the kitchen.
Sooooo Bye for now Thanks for being here. Loved hearing about the visit and the new dog challenges.  CUL EV1 GBU and GB Ukraine

Three Flying ... 29:35    75° (1:49 pm)   Sunny, and a mild breeze.  This is the kind of weather where you'd love to push a Pause Button and make it stay this way for a couple of months at least... before you head into 105° or higher.

Hi Cal ...  Tyler's Pembroke Welsh Corgi.  She's named, 'Ray' and she's 2 yrs. old.
It sounds like you had a good visit yesterday with Jim's sister and her husband.

Hi Joho ...   There's nothing like a good Fish Fry.  I'm not sure who has one here, I should do my own for my family.  I used to go visit a friend in Little Rock a couple of times a year, and it was the Fire Dept that held theirs.

The similarities between you and yours with the guy that you shared a table with are pretty interesting.  Did you exchange phone numbers?

Tasha - UPDATE April 2, 2023

Goldfinch Male
Tasha
Tasha
Today at 2:18 PM, Mary Ubl caught Tasha rubbing her face and trying to catch snowflakes. What some bears won’t do! Cool!

Before that, "Taught" also caught Tasha in action:

Speaking of spring, out the window at the WRI, a goldfinch (Spinus tristis) let me see how he was exchanging his tan winter feathers for bright yellow on his body and black on his crown for mating season. And then, his close cousin, the pine siskin (Spinus pinus), gave me the best view I’ve ever gotten of a male in full mating plumage—perhaps the most beautiful pine siskin I’ve ever seen. A good day.

The largest sculpture in the world, Crazy Horse Memorial, is located about five miles north of Custer and seventeen miles from Mount Rushmore National Memorial.

It all began in 1939 when Lakota Chief Henry Standing Bear asked sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski to carve a memorial to the spirit of Lakota leader Chief Crazy Horse and his culture.

“The red man has great heroes, also,” Chief Standing Bear said.

5:56 What a beauty. Nature is the best.  This bird looks like an Ohio Robin all ready for Easter.  47 degrees already here at 9:16 am. I will ride by Montgomery Drive a little later.

Yes we did have a very good dinner out with the Doppelganger family.  Neva, the Amish around here have a saying, " too soon Old too late Shmart".
No phone numbers. No last names. No date for next Friday.  Only street name, and it has about 14 homes to pick from.  I will keep riding by until I see someone to ask where "Marty" or maybe "Monty" lives.  That is my way. LOL  Not efficient, but eventually effective.

Thanks Tasha for coming out.  Maybe she has some southern genes.  Holly is still really socked in.

Gonna go see cams now CUL EV1 GBU and GB Ukraine.

  Trogon ... 44:30   80°  (5:53 pm)  Sunny and windy.

I hope all is well with all that visit here.

Hi Cal.  This morning one of our two Siamese cats, Ruby, passed.  She belonged to my daughter, Josette.  She would've been 10 next November.  She was a sweet girl and I will miss her.

Hi Joho   So that is where that saying comes from _  the Amish.  I would have guessed the Irish.

hi you guys its 49 here 48 in iceland 42 in kviv and 55 in the barn. They caught that escape knife stabber in tulsa Ok 300 miles from here showed our run down jail he was in pretty sad jail.An escaped Ray County, Missouri, inmate on the run since Tuesday, March 28, is back in custody.

Ray County Sheriff Scott Childers says Justin Robinson was taken into custody Monday in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Childers posted on Facebook that he believed Robinson was on his way to Texas.US Marshals. They had another call out after apprehending Robinson," Childers stated in the Facebook post. "I have little information at this time but I

will update everyone when I have received more information. I am assuming it will be tomorrow. I can tell everyone two things. Robinson was taken

into custody without incident and he will be housed in a more secure facility. Several agencies launched a search for Robinson last week after his escape from the county jail, where he had been detained for allegedly stabbing his pregnant girlfriend on Jan. 30.

Robinson and a second inmate were able to escape from the jail in an alleged coordinated attack on a jail employee.

Hi Neva such sad news on ruby. :( i am so sorry. is your other cat sister to ruby?  i got to pick up groceries pretty quick and first stop and vote get gas so better get moving on.

6:38  Finally got to it. Lots of home tax business this morning.  Also, test called some entries in my old address book to see if they were still good.  I caught up with a good old friend.  It was very fun for me.
Neva, I read it first in an Amish book my wife gave me, and then tried it on some of my Amish friends with a smile.  So I gave them the credit.
This does not mean they did not get from the prolific prose of the Irish as you suggest.  I like many of the Irish proverbs.  Most of which I don't clearly remember.  One I try to recall now and then has to do with, "the sun on your face and may the wind be always at your back".  I try to think of this one as I ride my bicycle on windy days in the Spring. LOL
Yes Cal I am glad to hear a more secure jail.  I was worried for you and your neighbors. My first job was at the N. Eaton phone company.  We were called to a rural home near the Grafton State Prison one morning.  A man had escaped, walked about half a mile to a rural home and killed the two old people living there.  We wre there soon after to just disconnect the phone service to the home.  I always thought my boss, the manager, was in a hurry to get there just out of his curiosity, but I never said it before now.
Sorry for your cat loss.  Death is so unwelcome, and pet death is one of the very worst.  I know.
Well enough on those subjects.  No lunch yet, and I am starting to get hungry.  I have lots of Lorrie food to eat up.  May have to freeze some again.  Debbie says she wants to stay home Friday and start getting ready for Easter at her home. So no fish fry for me.
Happy Easter Season EV 1 GBU and GB Ukraine.
