I was feeling old today so I went to visit some friends that were older.  I always feel good when I look at these old Key Westers.

Hi Jewelies!   cloudy and cool here today...

JP... How old do they figure those trees are?  What kind are they?

cal... How's your little fish stick today?  lol

Grands are coming tonight... going to cook chicken fried rice.  I made orange/cranberry muffins and homemade bread today.  My mouth looks much better today and my tooth seems to be ok.  Whew.  Glad it wasn't my nose or my glasses that got kicked!

Hope everyone is doing good!  Hi to all!

ra, they are Kapok trees.  Quite a few here and there.  My guess is about 130 years old.  The biggest one is in front of the County Courthouse.  Here is a picture of that one's ground area.

Hi Jewelies!  :)

Having trouble sleeping so I thought I would say hi to you guys and post a little Easter greeting. This stupid weather is making Mr Arthur act up something awful! 75 degrees one day and 45 the next. I keep flipping the furnace from a/c to heat. Ah, Spring! LOL!  It's supposed to rain a lot tomorrow and I just checked the weather and it looks a little thunderstormy coming this way with snow behind it. I hope we don't get ice! Anyway, I took a pill so maybe I can go to sleep after I finish here.

My little Georgy Girl was having a nap with her little orange mousie the other day. She is so cute sometimes.

Mei Huan and Mei Lun are just having a nice nibble on their bamboo!

Bei Bei loves climbing the trees. He is such a cutie!

Hi to JP, Cal, Rues, Ra, Obsver, Willi, Blschue, Eaglette, Nora, Neva, Pat, Chippy, Deb and all who visit here. I hope you are all having a restful night and that you enjoy your Easter.

Lily Fans are Helping - UPDATE March 26, 2016

Hoary redpoll
Hoary redpoll
Thank you!

Lily Fans have donated 8 bird houses to be put up in strategic places around the property?within sight of the viewing deck, along the nature trail, in a flower garden, in a good photo location, or whatever people think of.

Lily Fans are donating for bear food at http://www.bear.org/website/ how-to-help/bear-food/ donate-now.html.

Bear Educators are coming back and more will be trained in the class (now full) coming up April 22-24. Thanks to these volunteers and the interns (6 coming this summer) people were ecstatic about the good time they had at the Bear Center last summer, leading to the Common redpoll

Bear Center being recognized as Ely?s number one attraction on Trip Advisor. What a great group! And donations from Lily Fans are helping to provide the stipend of $1,000 for each intern. Each Bear Educator represents a large personal donation of time and money. Thank you again!

We are opening April 15 on Fridays and Saturdays for two weeks and then daily May 1 through October 23. A couple big events in July are the LilyPad Picnic July 22-24 and the Blueberry Festival July 29-31 (where the Bear Center will have a booth).

Out the window, the hoary redpoll put in another appearance with its frosty feathers. Common redpolls hopped from branch to branch to get to the sunflower seed hearts. The hairy woodpecker demonstrated how it closes its nictitating membrane (third eyelid) as it strikes at a tree or suet. The camera caught it half closed.

Easter is always a big Donna day, so I?m not sure I?ll be able to write an update tomorrow. She might have me helping care for the flowers she is growing for the Bear Center flower garden. A lot of them are ready to transplant to larger pots.

Thank you for all you do.

cal,   after watching Vilanova man handle Miami, who was a 3 seed and a good team, I sort of figured that they could easily win the championship.  Beating Kansas just fortified m y thought. Sorry the KU lost.

Cal, that is one scary Steven King Easter bunny! Wouldn't want that thing hanging around my house! Lol! Did you cook Jim an Easter dinner before he went to the lake? Robin wanted Thanksgiving dinner again so that's what I cooked...turkey breast and dressing. Didn't do the pumpkin pie and cranberries, though. She brought both her babies up so they could hang out on the screen porch since it's 80 outside! Both kitties were sleeping out there when she decided to go home so she left them here to spend the night. I just looked out there and neither of them are out there now! Lo! My Hyacinth yesterday was another I'm sure you've seen...she and Richard were invited to a cheese and wine art exhibit hosted by the mayor and Mrs Councillor Nugent. Emmet will be there, too, but he is sure Hyacinth will drive him bananas! Daddy has gone off to join the French Foreign Legion! Crow stayed up last night and watched your Jayhawks. He was rooting for them and sorry that they lost.  I can't remember if you watch Mr Selfridge on PBS or not. If you do it's on tonight and it's the final season. It seems all my favorite shows are in their final seasons.  :(

Jp, I could almost smell the lilies in your Easter greeting! Did you go out for dinner today? The kapok trees are awesome! Do they flower? I need to Google them.

Dlong, what a sweet pic of Georgy Girl and her mouse! Love the pandas! Hope your weather straightens up and realizes it's spring!

Ra, you always make the best stuff for your grand's! Did you cook Easter dinner? Glad that your tooth is ok!

Blschue, is it hot there? Did you get to see Jp's tree? It was slow to load on my iPad but it finally appeared.

Hope everyone is having a nice Easter!

Hi, Jewelies! Winter coat weather one day and no coat the next! Yep, spring is here. Dlong, your Georgy & my Big Tony look pretty much alike. He likes to sleep on his back, too. Sorry Mr. A is acting up, darn it. Sounds like you are having the same weather I have. Ra & rues, I want to come to your houses! The food sounds fantastic!!! Cal, do you think drama will ever be as big as wiggy? Two cats have adopted us. I hope the one we took to the free neutering will be safe from the mean tom . He's doing great and is a very appealing cat.  Jp, now that is a very interesting tree. Did a little yard work, reading is much more fun. I have the latest Jonathan Kellerman called Breakdown--just finished the latest Debbie Macomber called A Girl's Guide to Moving On. The grand, who is a senior has decided she wants to become a nurse and has been accepted by a college. She is on regular classes in the mornings and a work-study program at our local hospital in the afternoons. Hi, bischue, Willi, neva, deb, chippy!
