The pain manaement neurologist doubled my dosage of Gabapentin as he said the neck surgery to relieve the arm pain was too extensive.  As to the lower back pain he is going to do some injections on April 8.  Meanwhile I will continue to control it with Tylenol and the Tramadol.  I am satisfied that he is doing what is best.  When he checked all other neurological conditions like rubber hammers and squeeze and push reactions he said I was in quite good condition for my age, 92.  He said he would be satisfied with my condition at 72.  Nothing like blowing smoke but it makes me feel good.

We got a few inches, not much, of snow after the rain, sleet, freezing rain............a lot of the ice is off the trees, but more to go.

Hi Jewelies!  Just got home from Olive Garden a few minutes ago.  Very good meal.   I had like a sampler plate with three different things... Chicken Parm, lasagna, and another I can't remember.  There were 10 of us there, so we had a good gathering.  I made brownies and they were a hit.  My grand went and got her learner's permit this afternoon!!  OMG!!  Makes me so nervous!!   When we were getting in the car here, my youngest grand was climbing in the very back seat and accidentally kicked me in the mouth...  HARD!!  One tooth is loose (but not too bad), my lip is huge and 3 cuts in my mouth, from my teeth, that wouldn't quit bleeding!!   Ouch!  We had to stop to pick up my SIL at his office and he had some ice to put on it, that helped.  Just glad it wasn't my nose!  That would have been a mess!  lol  I didn't even cuss, but my grand started crying because she hurt me so bad.  Poor thing!

Jp... I'm glad you're happy with what your doctor is doing for you... that's very important.  Hope you feel better soon!  Love that pic of Mike this morning!  He has such a nice face!

cal...  I wish we could get Susie's stuff!  That would be so good.  I won't have that much work to do, but my daughter told me tonight that it's going to be next Friday AND Saturday.  The weather is supposed to be rainy, but that's a week away and I don't trust forecasts that far off.  The office we're having it at, also has a big three-bay garage attached, so maybe we could put it inside.  We'll see.  Love the bird pics in the updates!!

Nora... Glad you didn't get too much snow, but still sounds like you got plenty.  Glad your power stayed on... It did, didn't it?  You didn't say it went off, so I'm assuming...  lol

Eaglette... Looks like a really good forecast to me!  Perfect weather!

Hope all are well and have a good evening!  Hi all!

Bow with her winter coat.

That extra dose of Gabapentin really put me into a sound and lengthy sleep.  I am not complaining or upset for oversleeping.

Pleasant Friday thoughts to all.

Holly, Honey - UPDATE March 24, 2016

Red Squirrel
Red Squirrel
Holly is getting into mischief again, and a Lily Fan caught her on camera with a 2-minute video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knrw8Pvfoig.

Holly getting into trouble
Holly getting into trouble
Honey showed us something we don't often catch on tape?how she returns by walking in the same exact steps, called direct register walking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGri4uw6EqQ. Here is another example from 2013 with her walking toward the camera. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGiDwIWaxuw.

Chickadee with white spot over eye    Pine siskin
Out the window, there was a better look at a siskin but not a good view of the yellow on the wings and an identifiable chickadee with a white spot above its right eye. We also saw a red squirrel sitting pretty with a beautiful full winter coat that people here can't agree whether he is wearing a smile or a frown. What do you think?

Thank you for all you do.

Jp, so happy that you slept well and that you like your doctor and his plan for alleviating your pain! Great pic of Bow. My Stella cat's belly hangs down like Bow's! Lol!

Cal, Dr Rogers takes the best pics! He should publish a book with all his wildlife pics. I'd buy it!  Yesterday it was gorgeous  with a high 78. Then this awful wind started blowing and rained last night. Today it hasn't gotten out of the low 40's and frost overnight! But tomorrow back into the 60's and Easter Day 70. No coats or hoodies will be needed here to cover up all those pretty Easter dresses and hats! Lol! I can't remember the last time I wore an Easter dress or a hat! Lol!

Ra, hope your mouth and tooth are ok today! I bet that really hurt. You did good for not cussing! I love Olive Garden's fettuccine so much that I just can't order anything else! Good idea to have the yard sale in the building then it doesn't matter what the weather is like. I like going to yard sales but I don't enjoy hosting them! My older sis has one every summer to get rid of stuff so she can buy more. I used to help her out but I don't anymore. Hope you guys sale a bunch of stuff and make a lot of money!

Guess we are going out for an early supper....Mexican! Got to tell you this before we go...the owner of our favorite Mexican restaurant was charged with not paying his employees enough money. So now he has to pay all the employees he cheated. Totals over $150,000! Plus a fine. That's probably why all the Mexican servers we liked so well don't work there anymore! :o
Bbl!

Hi Cal! Well, I think the owner raised the prices! Our 2 meals totaled $36. I got a beef burrito with rice and cheese and Crow got the fajitas with chicken, shrimp and chorizo. We didn't even get dessert. We were very happy to see Jorge, one of our favorites,  had come back. We asked him where he had been but we still can't understand him! So we still don't know where he has been for the past year! Your Easter memory sounds pretty much the same as mine! Those were good times! Wasn't it fun to get all dressed up and have a family dinner and then an egg hunt and an Easter basket full of candy?! I never had any problems biting off my chocolate bunny's ears! I still fix up Easter baskets for Robin and Crow. Hope Jim gets that gate figured out! I know Crow has had problems with our garage door openers before. He gets pretty mad! I'll have to ask him if he is rooting for your Jayhawks. I do know that he was mad about one of the games he wants to watch not coming on until 10pm tonight. He's hoping he can stay awake! :D My Thursday night British detective shows were back on last night, finally! Hope that your Hyacinth is back, too!

The snow that we did get is melting fast and the ice finished falling off the trees this noon, it was pretty thick on them.  Yep, our power stayed on.  There was the slightest of flickers of the lights, not like off and on, more like a candle flicker for lack of a better comparison, and that didn't last real long.  Awww bet your grand DID feel bad RA, ouch.

Glad that extra Gabapentin worked JP!

That red squirrel is adorable!

I'll say Holly was getting into trouble!!

Rues I love it when someone has cheated employees and they get caught.

Holly Hesitant to Go - UPDATE March 25, 2016

Hoary redpoll
Hoary redpoll
Bear Curator Sharon Herrell opened Holly and Lucky?s door so they could come down to the pond and perhaps get weighed before feeding starts. They weren?t interested. Sharon emailed, ?She looked and ran back into the bunker.? We?ll see how this develops over the next few days.

Lily Fans sent me this heart-breaking article about mange killing bears in Virginia https://m.facebook.com/story.php? story_fbid=593824567440126 &id=100004377639131&p=0&refid=52 . We often see mange in bears here in northern Minnesota but it doesn?t look like the picture in the article. We have verified that what we have here is indeed mange. Here, it occurs in a low percentage of bears and seems harmless. The bears lose hair on their faces and grow it back in spring. They do fine. I?m wondering if the much worse symptoms shown in the picture is really mange. I don?t know if state authorities have actually verified that it is. I don?t know what it could be. I don?t believe it is anything I listed in my old review of bear parasites (Rogers, L. L., and S. M. Rogers. 1976. Parasites of bears: a review. Bear Research and Manage. 3:411-430). From the articles I?ve seen about the bears in Virginia, I wasn?t sure the deaths were from the disease or from euthanasia.

Pine siskin
Pine siskin
Out the window, a pine siskin (Spinus pinus) (same genus as goldfinches), posed showing his or her yellow, and a hoary redpoll (Acanthis hornemanni) posed showing its frostier, paler color (compared with common redpolls) and slightly smaller bill. Their range extends about 700 miles farther north than the range of the common redpoll (Acanthis flammea) and includes Ellesmere Island and the north shore of Greenland, nearly 2900 miles from here. The southernmost part of their summer range is about 550 miles from here.

Thank you for all you do.
