Hi Jewelies!  Boy, how the weather can change!  Today was so cold!  Tonight we have freeze warnings!  I had to cover a couple of my bushes that had a lot of tender new growth on them.  Sure doesn't feel like the first day of spring!

rues... I haven't spread any of the mulch yet.  I want to wait until I get the foundation painted, so I don't walk all over it and smush it down.

JP... glad you felt better today!

cal... When we got to the Steak House last night, there was a young girl in front of us that had on a t-shirt that said "shiplap" on the front and Magnolia on the back!  Of course, I had to tell her that we watch that show, too!  Cool that Chip and Joanna are near you!  Would be neat to meet them!  I'm glad they arrested the lady that hit the police horse.  Wonder what she thought she was accomplishing by doing that??  Love Cousin Janice's stuff!  Glad Rose is okay today!

Hope everyone has had a Happy First Day of Spring!

Sybil, when she was a cub.

Spring has sprung.  May it be a comfortable one for all.  My back has sprung this morning.  It was doing so well I went without taking any pain meds.  I think I did that too soon.

Holly, Lucky, Legislation, Redpolls, and Thank You! - UPDATE March 20, 2016

Common redpoll in snow
Common redpoll in snow
Midday today, Holly and Lucky moved their fun outdoors as a Lily Fan captured in this 11?-minute action video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPAoT9jwTis. I look forward to learning the weights and weight-loss of these active bears before they start gaining weight again.

The DNR introduced legislation to make it illegal to feed a bear by hand or other physical contact. The target of this is obvious, and I have confidence that key legislators will see through this bill and remove it.

Out the window, it was blue sky and sunshine, making the redpolls look beautiful on this first day of spring. Common redpoll and boughs

I couldn?t help snapping a couple shots through the window to share. Three males (pink breasts) posed. One showed the spread of his wings that will carry him back to the Arctic. Another had his feathers all puffed up in the snow, while a third was framed by balsam fir boughs.

A big thank you to all who participated in the Makeover Fundraiser. Way to go Lily Fans and a big thank you also to all who put the items together and organized it. I know Scott will use the money wisely and frugally. So much is happening there.

Thank you for all you do.

Hi Jewelies!  It was supposed to rain today, but we got like 5 minutes of it.  Didn't even soften up the ground!  It was cold this morning and have a freeze warning again tonight.

cal... I'm watching The Voice... your guy from Joplin went home tonight.  He was good though.  I watched Chip and Joanna all morning.  Now, I only have 25 more episodes recorded!  lol  Effie has a lot of nerve riding her horse where she knows she's not supposed to.  Yes... a brat.

Picked out my stone for the front of the porch tonight.  Not sure when it's going to be done though... I get a discount if I wait until the guy's in the area and use his rock left over from a different job.  Can't wait to be done.

Hope everyone is doing good!  Hi to all!

Where did Spring go?  It is 58o here with a 25-30 knot Northeasterly wind.  That is close to being the coldest night here this year.

cal,I will be rooting for the Royals this year until August.  Then they play the Marlins in a 3 game series in Miami.  Hope both teams are at the top at that point.

Lucky, Holly, and Food - UPDATE March 21, 2016

Holly and Lucky play
Holly and Lucky play
In this 5-minute good, clear, high resolution video captured by a Lily Fan, Holly repeatedly instigates play and runs into the den. Finally, Lucky followed her in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP_0_1G4AFA. Here?s a 2-minute action version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2c03ZFIX4g.

Feeding starts soon and we appreciate your help in that. Holly, Lucky, Ted, and Honey will start getting food in the next few days as soon as we can get spring weights on them. Wild bears like Lily, Jewel, Fern, Faith, Sophie, and others will show up later.

If you?d like to help with that, a bear foods donation page is now up and running on bear.org at: http://www.bear.org/website/how-to-help/bear-food/donate-now.html. Last fall, when I worried about Lily, I believe that the top quality food that Lily Fans bought with donations diverted her from hunters? baits. The new food donations page is because we found we can get more food for less money locally than over the internet, and we can more easily select the top quality foods the bears need.

Working behind the scenes on the DNR?s feeding legislation.

Thank you for all you do.

Ted.

An oversleerp  but I am all right, just cold, waiting for Spring to return.   Was getting ready  to post the morning greeting when my computer just shut itself off.  I finally got it turned back on and had to reconstruct the morning greeting.  Gremlinsd in there.

Good thoughts for each and every one of you Jewelies for a fine Tuesday,

Good morning jewelies! Took me longer in the barn and letting dogs out. Had to watch the holly and lucky show! Such an entertaining show! Those bears have alot fun. happy for them both. I am happy to help with their food too.

Hi JP! That is the most beautiful picture of Ted! I know JP this is march madness on the weather. our winds today they said up to 45 mph! it is already windy out there. but from the south so up to 76 today. thursday could have snow they said. say what? make up your mind..Royal first game april 1st against the diamond back our home opener against the mets april 3rd. I am so excited to watch the royals again! I will root for the marlins till august too!! wouldn't that be great if our two teams ended up in the playoffs or more!!! course that happens and we both to our own corners!! :D

Hi Ra! I am sure Jim watch the voice last night and probably was rooting for the joplin guy. he loves that show. yesterday on my hgtv all day when i was coming in and out was that tiny houses stuff. no way i could that. it was on last night too. family had four kids not little bitty kids wanted to downsize spend more time together. one girl. teenage girl. showing places she oh that is too small well you wanted to look at tiny houses. finally picked a fifth wheel. poor kids..and they had a dog! she was worry about making whooping and the kids hearing them cause it is a tiny place!! had the real estate lady shut the door and then she jumped up and down and said can you hear me. i almost had to change the channel. where is the stone going on your front porch and what does it look like?  I love fixer upper it is on here today and tonight. so i can watch them today and today. mondays usually are hillary and david love it or list it. so missed seeing that cause i like that show too. no fire ban on today too cause of those winds. so it's a trade off. keeping the firebugs at bay still.

Hi to all you guys got to do all my stuff and go to walmart and stop by missy's clinic

It took me 12:53 to get a hamburger.  They were serving people who came after I did ahead of me.
