Watching the news about the water in Flint, Mi... I used to work in Flint.  As they're talking about all the lead in the water, they show the river with a bunch of ducks floating around.  We all know what lead does to eagles... what about the poor little ducks?  Besides all the people, I mean...

Good grief, we may get 6-12 inches of snow on Friday! Mountains could get 24 inches! We got a half inch today and that's plenty for me! I should have kept my big mouth shut about that snow shovel still sitting in the garage because I think I jinxed it! :o Tomorrow is supposed to be the calm before the storm!

Cal, you'll know the feed the birds song when I tell you where it comes from...Mary Poppins! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHrRxQVUFN4 That makes me cry every time I see it!  Glad Polly got there safely! I think Robin's new car has that slide thing, too. Our poor old truck doesn't have any of the new stuff!

Ra, that pageant sounds like the perfect thing for the grand! I hope she does well and has something she feels she can excel in. Something that her older sister hasn't done before her. I keep hoping the weather people are wrong and this lousy storm goes straight out to sea and bypasses the east! Had to  ask Crow how he got out of DirecTv because I couldn't remember. He said way back then you could cancel it without a penalty and that's what he did.  Every now again he says he is going back to satellite tv because our cable keeps raising. I tell him go ahead but I'm still keeping my cable! :D I've been watching that mess in Flint. I was wondering if you lived near there. Did you see somewhere in MI there was a gas war? Gas was 47 cents at a couple stations and afterwards it went back to $1.47. That's still cheaper than it is here. Here it ranges from a $1.62 to $1.74.

Obsver, I'll go help Ra shovel if she'll then come help me shovel! :D Does your neck ache give you headaches? I think that's why I've been having so many headaches. I keep saying I'll go see a chiropractor but keep putting it off. My younger sis sees her chiro monthly for what he calls maintenance visits. Guess you are missing out on the snow storm! :D My mom always used Dove soap!

Jp, you are the sweetest GOM I know!  :)

Hi Eaglette and Nora!

Hi rues!  So... this storm is YOUR fault?  Thanks a lot!  lol  It looks like it's going to be a bad one for the whole East coast!  I hate to tell you this... but when I moved to Flint after I graduated from high school, they were having gas wars... it was 19 cents a gallon!  lol   Am I telling my age?  lol  I didn't see that on the recent gas war though...  I can't imagine...  I use Dove soap, but I use the green kind...  Shovel?  Me?  I don't have a snow shovel... I live in SC and I don't need one.  Yeah, right!  lol

Rues, yep, if my neck is out of position badly enough,  I start to get a headache. Go to a chiropractor who doesn't do all that fancy stuff--just adjustments. Our guy is an old friend whom we knew we could trust. Mr. O roomed with him in the dorm their 2nd year of college. He got his teaching license and then decided to go on to be a chiropractor. He's been in practice for many, many years. I'd urge you to try it. You might not want to go down to Ra's until she is well again. (sorry, ra)  Ra, I wondered if you had ever been to Flint. What a nightmare for them! A big worry, too, is how will that water ever be made safe? The bed is warm, time for bed. Goodnight, all you Jewelies.

This is an unnamed cub.  I just liked it.

It is slightly warmer this  morning and that is a good sign.  The storm hitting some of you is the worst snow storm the country has seen in years.  They were predicting 24 inches for Washington D.C.  Prayers for you ra.

Down here is the middle of the big Quantum sailboat race week.  Because of the strong North winds they had to cancel the races Tuesday.  That is a rarity for they like to sail in the prevailing winds here.  Over 170 boasts in 5 classes are entered.

Good thoughts to all Jewelies and others who read these words.

Honey Out, Better Technology Coming - UPDATE January 20, 2016

Honey
Honey out for a walk
Honey ventured out on this day of temperatures above zero (F). Aside from walking around in her pen, she ate snow as the video shows https://www.facebook.com/ toni.embree.50/videos/ 1171672802865348.

A topic of conversation today was the web cams at the Bear Center. When the bears emerge in spring, we plan to drill holes in the Chalets for mounting cameras that will show the bears? every move when they are in them. The Chalets are favorite resting spots in summer and favorite denning sites in winter. For now, we have external web cams overlooking the Chalets, which we were glad to have when Honey came out briefly today. We?d like to have web cams outside and inside the Chalets and wherever the bears choose to den, but the number of cams are currently limited by bandwidth. When fiber optics cable reaches the Bear Center, we will have more bandwidth available. We can then expand the number of web cams and make the Distance Learning Classroom in the Hope Learning Center operational. Thank you for helping to make possible what we have today. We look forward to improvements when they become available.

Thank you for all you do.

Honey looked a bit grumpy  ;)

Now I'M going to rant.  I had to call the IRS about something.  That's fine and dandy and I'm very happy with the final results, but I live in the USA.  Our language is ENGLISH.  WHY do I have to PUSH 1 FOR ENGLISH when I call the US GOVERNMENT?!!!!!  >:(

Hi Jewelies!  Well... the s*** or s**** is about to hit the fan!  lol  That would be snow or sleet.  We have a winter storm warning now with chance of 1-10, yes TEN, inches of snow AND 1/4 to 1/2 INCH ice.   Yikes.  They have already closed the schools for tomorrow and it hasn't even started yet!!  I'm charging everything I can charge, doing my laundry, and was going to make bread today, but forgot... hopefully I can make some tomorrow.  All this... just in case the power goes off.  We had an ice storm a few years ago and the power was off for 4 or 5 days.  It was warmer outside than it was in the house.  I don't have a generator, or a kerosene heater... don't know enough about either of these things to feel comfortable using one.  I'm charging my Kindle... hope I can post in here on it.

Nora... I agree with you completely!  Anyone moving into OUR country needs to be able to speak OUR language.

cal... Had to laugh at the puzzle today!  lol  So right!  Tabasco sauce can eat through tile??  Oh my!!  Is it still snowing?  I hope Polly has an uneventful trip home.  Glad you two got to play your game!  Great idea to get a farm hand!   :D

JP... Thanks for the prayers!  I hope we don't need them here.  That's something they had to cancel a day of the sailing race because of wind!  Doesn't sound right, does it?   ;)  That cub you posted for us this morning sure is a cutie!

rues... Are you supposed to get this big storm, too?  How bad is it predicted to be there?  Hopefully, it is passing you by.

obsver... I picked up supper from the Japanese restaurant for me and my daughter's family.  It was a ploy to get to see them!  lol  I hadn't seen her and the girls for a long time and I missed them and wanted hugs from all of them.  The last time I saw them was last week when they stopped here and we talked through the glass of my front door because I was so sick, they didn't want my germs.  I felt like a prisoner!  lol  I got lots of big, big hugs tonight... felt so good!   ;D  I worked in Flint for about 15 years and the joke used to be that you could walk on the Flint River it was so polluted... especially with dead bodies!!  It was really nasty looking then...  I'm sure they cleaned it up in the 30 years I've been down here, but they sure have a mess on their hands now.

Hi to everyone!  Hope all are well and have a good evening.  Stay warm, Jewelies!

But, cal... I don't have a snow shovel.  I have to just wait for it to melt.   :D  I hope the roads are decent for Polly.  I was a little surprised about the tabasco sauce... makes me glad I don't use it!

Rues, did you see that? It's safe to go down to ra's to share your snow shovel, and you can even give her a hug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Ra, I really like the Japanese food I've had. Now you've made me hungry for it. Five days without power sounds dreadful! Sure hope your power stays on!!  Cal, glad Polly made it out--you are sure going to be happy to hear she's safely home. Jp, thank you for all the pics., etc. you post for us. We all look forward to seeing your posts first thing to start our day!

cal... Of COURSE I know how to use a snow shovel!  I'm from Michigan!!  lol  But... that was the first thing I said when we decided to move South... "We're not taking the snow shovel!!"  lol

obsver... I always have Teriyaki Shrimp with no carrots when I do Japanese.  I hate cooked carrots!  Grilled shrimp, broccoli, rice.  I have some left... do you think I should share it with rues?   ;D
