Mmmnm, Ra, I love cinnamon and sugar! I'll have to look for those Sweetos on Wednesday at Walmart! Like your cats, I'm sure Stella would be in the oven, too! :D  Robin's friends are coming Friday evening so that's when little Tela will be here. I'll be a nervous wreck while she's  here...afraid one of the dogs will step on her or she'll be so frightened that she will hide and I won't be able to find her! :o  Wilson will stay out in the screened porch, I'm sure! His favorite place!   Glad you got your furnace fixed!  At least you had your heated pad so you didn't freeze!  We had a hard frost last night but then it warmed up to 65! Tomorrow could be 70! Wahoo! My kind of fall! :D

Cal, great pics today! How cool that Dr Rogers can hand feed the chickadee! I hate that you have to haul around all that poop! That will make your back hurt more! Wish I could come help you.  Glad that Jim got a seat not in the back! :D You'll have to tell him that Jp says the back is safer! Did you go to Walmart? The puzzle with the kid in the corner is so true!!

Jp, I never knew that about the back of the plane being safer!  Great pic of Ted! Growing up at home, our house only had a floor furnace in the living room. You froze in all the other rooms. The kitchen, where we did our homework, was so cold that mom would turn on the oven and the stove burners to warm up the room. As an adult, I read that doing that was so dangerous!  :o

I didn't know till last week that Major Crimes was back! I was channel surfing and found it! A new episode tonight! Then Blindspot! You all have a great evening! :)

Hi rues!  We've had a hard freeze for the past two nights.  Some of my plants are a mushy mess!  It's supposed to start raining here again on Wednesday... a lot, too.  Part of the system that's dumping all that snow in Denver, I think they said.  I don't think you'll have to worry about Tela getting stepped on by one of the dogs... She's not used to them, is she?  If not, she will probably be quite shy and out of the way.  lol  Max, the dog, came with my SIL today and yesterday, but he has to stay in the car, so he won't hurt Gramma...  lol

Remember these guys.  Jewel, Fern and Herbie in 2013

I see that a bad storm is coming across the middle of the country.  I hope it does not affect many of you Jewelies.  We have had a lot of rain here the last couple of days.  They did manage to finish the boat races, though.

The pictures in the update, the close up pictures of the birds, are really great.  The birds there seem so friendly to allow taking the pictures and eating out of your hand.  Wow.

cal, I so feel for you with the achy back.  It has been such a relief for me since the pain management doctor gave me those shots.  Remember how often I would have trouble sitting at the computer to make a post.  You should see an orthopedist before things get worse.

ra, good that you  have your furnace back up.  It must be miserable to have to layer up with clothes inside your house.  Hm-m-m, roast cat for Thanksgiving.  We had a cat while I was growing up (a dog, too) and they did not get in the open oven when we used it to heat the area.

Another day is now underway.  May it turn out to be a decent one for all.

Cal, I bet my Walmart won't have those Sweetos either! We never get the good stuff! Our rain is coming tomorrow evening, I think that's what they said. Lots of rain, too. Then maybe a few snow flakes over the weekend! Ugh. I agree...no troops on the ground. Just bomb them. What a scary time we live in. Doesn't matter what day you celebrate Thanksgiving. Just having your family together is all that matters!

Jp,  how sweet to see Jewel, Fern and Herbie!

Ra, even if Max didn't come in to see you, at least he got to go for a ride! We've had a couple hard freezes but I still have petunias and begonias blooming!  :D They look better than my mums!

Time to think about supper...ugh. Nothing sounds good. Bbl!

Hi Jewelies!  Worked part of the day today, then came home and worked in the yard.  One thing led to another and another and another.  The leaves are winning, but I'm putting up a brave front, I think.  lol   I mowed part of the yard, too.  Hopefully, the last time for that area.  I found a snake in the yard!!  Ewww!!  He was really mad at me for looking at him... shaking his little tail and lunging at me!  I pushed him into the leaves that I WILL NOT be walking in!

rues... We're supposed to get a lot of rain here, too... starting tomorrow.  Up to 5"!!  Sure has been a wet fall here.  You might get SNOW??  OMG!!  I know it's November, but it doesn't seem like it should be that late in the year, does it?  Seems like it was just winter a couple of months ago!  Max goes to work with my SIL almost every day and most of the time he's real good.  What's for supper?  I'm hungry and can't decide what to eat either.

cal... I guess the people who make the good snacks just know that I'm waiting and watching to try the new stuff and that's why it's in my store!  lol  Is Polly coming tonight?  Is it still raining?

JP... I don't trust Handsome to stay out of the oven if I leave the door open.  He even knows how to open the cabinet doors and feed himself!  lol

Hi to all!

It took me 5:30 to identify that as a stork.  I think I will change my mouse as ita hangs up and the clock runs.  I guess I should mention that I will not post tomorrow.  Going to Miami for the eye shot.

Jp, have a safe trip and good luck tomorrow with the eye shot! Enjoy your ride and lunch with Patrick. I find that it is so much easier for me to do the puzzles on this iPad. Doesn't help any with the time, though!  :D

Cal, you wouldn't like what I finally decided on for supper...BLT's! Except Robin only has the B, hold the lettuce, tomato and mayo! :D I enjoy a nice bowl of cereal when I'm home alone. I have milk with mine though! :D I forgot to look for that salad kit at Walmart. I need to put that on my grocery list! Just heard on the news that they found bombs in Germany! And Charlie Sheen is HIV positive!  That frozen strawberry lemonade sounds really good right about now! :D

Ra, a snake! Yikes! What kind of snake? Wilson and Stella open up cabinet doors, too! One time Wilson opened up the cabinet door and got into his dry cat food! Pulled the bag out onto the floor and had a feast! Cats are so smart!

JP... I was thinking it was about time to go to Miami.  Hope you have a safe trip and all goes well.  Enjoy your lunch!

cal and rues... I've decided to have fish sticks and corn for supper.

rues... So... Robin has  a bacon sandwich??  Nothing else on it?  The girl likes bacon.  lol  I think the snake was probably a corn snake, not sure.  My daughter would know.  She's my snake expert.  Last week she had a DNR guy in her library for a lesson and she ended up with an albino snake wrapped around her neck for 3 HOURS!!  Yikes!  It was BIG, too!  She sent me a pic! Not all cats are smart...Lily is pretty dumb for a cat... sorry, Lily.  She just doesn't have a clue most of the time!  lol  Maybe because she can't see very well... at least I don't think she can see very well.  She might see fine and is just messing with me!  lol

Good morning, Jewelies! Sounds like some wet, windy weather. I'll find out when I go out to feed the cats! Well, I now know what everyone has been talking about---logging in again in order to post. What's with that?  I'm so far behind in my posting. Medical tip: I have a friend who started having some muscle spasms in her legs when she went to bed. The doc. told her to spend a little time riding her exercise bike before bedtime. She tried it, hasn't had a trouble since.  He said a recumbent  (leans back) is the best for back I hips. We have one of those and have it set so we can watch ty while we bike. I'm thinking about each one of you.  bbl

Honey, Ted, Facelift, Interns, Educators, Greeting Card - UPDATE November 17, 2015

Holiday Cards Now Available!
Holiday Cards Now Available!
Have Ted and Honey denned despite the warm weather? 46F?. We are missing a lot of snow as the precipitation falls as rain in this El Ni?o autumn. No one saw them out today. Last year Honey denned on November 16 in the window den and Ted denned on November 14 in Honey?s Haven where Honey is this year.

In the bunker den Holly is near the door and Lucky is toward the back of the den. Holly continues to rake her nest as she was doing 2 days ago in this video http://viewpure.com/QyT9ospBW0c
Scott hopes to get the new cam connected soon. They are currently testing the wiring.

Today, the staff had an outpouring of creativity following GiveMN. The Bear Center facelift is getting excitinger and excitinger. We always thought a camping exhibit would be ideal. Many of the visitors are on their way to camp in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, one of the U. S. Forest Service campgrounds, or a Minnesota State Park. But we didn?t think we had the room. Today it came to us. A 4-sided platform of the same style as the Ecology Hall Habitat Exhibit would fit right in if we make a couple simple adjustments. The things that happen when good minds start to play off each other. With help from Peter and Ryan who made the Habitat Exhibit forest, the camping exhibit will give the Bear Center a forest flavor front and center and hold information inquiring campers want to know. This new exhibit will incorporate two of the exhibits near it, making the room needed for the big platform. Holly and Lucky in their den

With this exhibit and the other changes in the works (and maybe a new grizzly mount someday), the Bear Center will be up to the standards of the Ecology Hall. The forest that will surround the tent can hold some of the birds the taxidermists will mount one of these days. Some will hang from the ceiling in flying positions. Some will perch on branches. Plus we will add nature sounds. Things are coming together with the help of Lily Fans and GiveMn. Thank you.

To go with the exhibits, we need interns and Bear Educators. If anyone has a friend or family member who would make a good intern, please encourage them to apply. Students studying biology, ecology, wildlife management, etc. would be especially ideal. Bear Educators have proved very valuable the last several years. We get so many compliments about the helpful people who make a Bear Center visit a joy. Judy Thon is setting up a Bear Educator Course and can be reached at [email protected].

Thank you for all you do.
