I looked at the City Limits sign for 4:27.  Decided the parade must be over so I went in to the City anyhow because the song said "they got a lot of pretty women there and I'm gonna get me one".  I just realized that at my age I must be a veteran veteran.

Hi Jewelies!  :)

I've had an awful time trying to get into the Forum. I tried for a long time last night but no success. Early this morning I read JP & Cal's posts and then couldn't get in later.

The wind is AWFUL here. Been that way since about 11:00, but no storms, thank goodness. I went to the grocery store and nearly got blown off the road a couple of times!

Anyway, JP so sorry this is so late. Thank you for your service!

Big news! The panda cub at the National Zoo took his first steps yesterday. Here is the 40 second video. Be sure to turn on your volume because he makes little noises. Watch until the end; so sweet!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-Isg_pJy2c

Here are a couple of screen captures of him in his den. Mom has been leaving him alone a lot more lately.

He was yawning and stretching in this pic. I just want to hold him for just a minute. But, he is very wiggly and even Mei has trouble holding on to him.

This is Holly & Lucky in their den yesterday. I don't know who is who, but one is laying very close  and below the camera so you can't see them. Just a little dark strip.

This is Mr Wu from the San Diego Zoo Facebook page. He is 3 now.

This is Mei Huan from Atlanta Zoo. She is so pretty!

The last mention about the Royals, I promise. My son sent me this picture of his pool; blue in honor of the Royals! LOL

Here are a few more screen captures of Mei & Bei Bei. She brings him out of the den a lot more now too. Such a nice mom. Except for the way she drags and scoots him along the floor to move him from one place to another. Twice while she had him out there when these pics were taken he fell upside down onto his head! Yikes! And then she left him on the edge so she could eat. Sorry about the weird color in these pics. I couldn't get rid of the green. I guess zoo lighting is not the best for photos sometimes.

Hi to Cal, Ra, Rues, Obsver, Willi, Blschue, Eaglette, Nora, Chippy, Pat, Deb, Neva and everyone who visits here. Have a restful night!.  :)

I had trouble getting into the forum today, too! I read Cal's and Jp's posts and then it wouldn't let me go to the next page! Sorry this greeting is so late! Hope everyone had a nice day. There was a parade downtown this morning and all the restaurants are offering free or discounted meals to all veterans. I'm going to go over to my iPad. Be back in a minute!

I too had problems with getting to the Forum.  Frustrating to say the least.

I give thanks to all the Veterans who served.  I thank you for your courage to accept the risks inherent in serving to protect the freedom of those of us that did not, could not, and even those that will not make the sacrifice to protect the liberties of the free world!

Thank you all for all the kind words concerning the recent events involving my father's ill health and my emotional needs.  You are all so awesome!!!

Peace, Eaglette.

Ok, I'm on my iPad now. It's easier to type on it.   Spent the last couple days helping Robin clean up her attic. There has to be 25 trash bags full of clothes and shoes up there. Today we donated 11 full bags of clothes to Goodwill! Planning on taking more there this weekend!

Cal, Bella's lullaby is so nice! Bet it's soothing for Babe! Wouldn't you just love to go see the new bear center's exhibits? Thanks for posting pics all our Jewel family veterans! All very handsome men! Looks like your dad's pinky finger had a bandage on it! That's the funniest dog shame!

Dlong, great panda pics! Love your son's pool! It's so pretty and inviting! That wind of yours is heading my way! They say very high winds overnight with rain!  Some areas could get gusts up to 50 mph! Here come the leaves all ending up in my driveway! :D

Jp, thank you for your service to our country! How handsome you look in your uniform!

Eaglette, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I see Criminal Minds is on so think I'll go watch for awhile. Hope I can stay awake for the entire show! ::)

Imagine a 5-cub litter.  Here''s a picture of one.  Poor mama bear.  Not one of Shadow's clan.

I thought I  was having problems with my computer even late last night I was having trouble with the forum.  Kept getting signs about "not available".  I'm glad it is working this morning'

Thank all of you for the thanks for my serving my 26 years in the Navy.  I enjoyed that period and felt honored to be able to serve.  At one point there, during the Viet Nam war, Both my sons and myself were serving. One son in the Air force, the other in the Army.

cal, I did not get one of those Kansas City pretty women when I finally got into town.  I think the huge crowd for the Royals celebration grabbed them all up.

I have had no energy lately.  I need to  find an energy station and get a fill-up.

dlong, a great bunch of  Panda pics.  They always look as if they are enjoying whatever they are doing.

You all have my thoughts and good wishes as we move into this Thursday.

Good morning, Jewelies! I had a long post last night, but it wouldn't send. Before that, I was not able to get on until then. I see several people have been having the same problem. Yikes! Well, cal & Dlong, you just had to pass on that terrible wind, didn't you? I can hear it roaring out there--I have to leave in about 30 min. to go out to breakfast--hope the wind doesn't blow the car off the road!  Rues, I don't want to pass it on to you, but gee whiz!!   I'm going to see if I can send this. If so, I'll write more later.

The Facelift, Cubs? Names - UPDATE November 11, 2015

Lily - August 6, 2015
Lily - August 6, 2015
Another aspect of the Bear Center?s facelift was the Bear Educator and intern programs that gave the Bear Center and Ecology Hall reputations for friendly, knowledgeable learning experiences this past summer. People stopped me on the street to tell what a pleasant time they had. The 20 educators and 4 interns, plus staff, made the popular behind-the-scenes tours nearly an hourly event. For the visitors, it was obvious that seeing bears up close and being able to ask questions was changing attitudes about bears. In 2016, we hope to expand both the intern and Bear Educator programs using donations from tomorrow?s Give to the Max Day.

On another subject, we are updating the Shadow?s Clan chart. That means giving names to cubs born this year.

For Ursula?s cubs we picked Ed (for E. O. Wilson), Jane (for Jane Goodall), and Dian (for Dian Fossey).
For Bow?s 3 female cubs we picked Rachel (for Rachel Carson), Florence (for Florence Merriam), and Nancy (for Nancy Krause).
For Lily?s 2 males and 1 female we and Lily Fans picked Frankie, Francis (for the Patron Saint of Animals St. Francis of Assisi), and Frannie to clarify after my error some time back.
For Braveheart?s 2 males and 1 female, we picked Stratton, Porter, and Geneva
For Shadow?s little male we used Spanky as named by the people who know this family best.
For Jewel?s 1 male and 2 females we picked Scott, Mikah, and Natalie
For Faith?s 2 males, we picked David (for Dave Mech) and Allen (for Allen Garber)
For Donna?s 2 males and 2 females, the Krauses picked Hans, Parry, Britta, and Pixie.
For Shannon?s 2 males and 1 female, the Krauses picked Blaze, Banner, and Glory
For Star?s 3 females, the Krauses picked Veanna, Vonnie, and Vixen
We?re waiting to hear what Glenn and Nancy Krause named Willow?s two cubs.

Thank you for all you do.

Hi Jewelies!  Let's see what kind of luck I have here today... I haven't been able to post since Monday night!  It's windy here, too, but sunny and warm.  With all the rain we've had, some of my trees have lost all their leaves already.  Yesterday, I cut down one of my crepe myrtles to the ground and I raked all the leaves up from my pecan tree.  No nuts this year... don't know if it's just an off year or if the squirrels have gotten them all.

cal... Thanks for posting my post from yesterday!  Laughing at the "pugged" toilet.  lol

Gotta go and donate to the MN give to the max day.  Hi to everyone!  BBL

Hi cal!  I cut the crepe myrtle down because it wasn't in the sun anymore and looked pitiful and didn't bloom anymore.  The pecan tree grown so much that nothing around it gets any sun.  I need to get a tree guy out here to see if I can cut some of the limbs off the tree.  It's hanging over the house now and that makes me nervous when it's windy or we get a storm.

Hi cal!  Polly is going home on Thursdays now or is this unusual?  Glad that Babe had a good day today!  Did I ever tell you that Babe was my nickname from my parents and brothers since I was a very little girl?  I started out "Diamond Babe" because I had a sweater that had rhinestones on it, but Babe is what my brothers still call me.   :D
