Happy Black Friday, Jewelies! I stayed home today and put my fall decorations away! Then I raked leaves in the driveway and pulled up dead begonias! That last frost and 19 degree temps finally killed everything! It was an absolutely beautiful day here...sunshine and 70! Overnight rain is coming. The weather guy says the 14 day forecast shows no snow or below freezing temps! That's ok by me! :D

Cal, crap, I hate that the weather  is causing you extra work. My gosh, you have enough to do! Glad Polly is on her way there and can help you out some. Hope she doesn't run into any bad weather.  Sounds like Missy had a great shopping day! Maybe there's still something left there for you! Or you might find it online. Bet those 2 cardinals scared you! Glad they didn't hurt themselves. Hope you and Babe get some rest tonight. Man, I want a bite of that cake you gave Neva! That is one pretty cake! My younger sis called me a little while ago. She had to take Madison to the vet because she kept dribbling urine. Turns out she is incontinent and has to take estrogen! Vet said that happens to females that are spayed.  :o

Jp, hope your computer comes tomorrow! I really miss your morning greetings! Feel better soon.

Ra, that bear statue sounds awesome! Hope it appears in your yard! I don't know where Wilson sleeps at night! I got up in the middle of the night and he was sleeping in the living room rocker. I know he doesn't always sleep there because that's where Stella usually sleeps.. He's staying another night. I was going to take him home this afternoon but he was so intent watching the birds at the feeder that I told Robin I'd bring him home tomorrow! Sometimes Stella tries to sleep with me,up next to my head, but Boo is such a bed hog and flails around so much that it scares her away. Our daughters must have the same taste in clothes!

Dlong, great pics! Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving and hope your get together today was just as nice!

Hi to everyone and have a nice evening! :)

Good Morning all.  Have a great day.

I am doing somewhat better.  My nose is easing off but I have developed a dry cough.

I checked on my new computer and it has not been shipped yet.  Now, they say I should have next Wednesday.

May each of you have a fine last November Saturday.

Wonderful Thanksgiving - UPDATE November 27, 2015

Red Squirrel
Red Squirrel
On Thanksgiving, Donna and I did nothing and we're thankful for it.   I can?t remember a better turkey.  Donna tried Scott Edgett?s method of baking it uncovered for a half hour at 500 degrees and then covered with tinfoil for a couple hours at 350 degrees.  I usually don?t like white meat because it?s dry.  Yesterday it was moist and tender.  Scott?s method will be part of our household.  The rest of the day, we watched crying movies on Hallmark channel.  They?re all the same?a couple feels attraction, encounters a problem, and makes us hug and wipe away happy tears when they finally get together.

Chickadee
Chickadee
Today, it was back to the calmer life?at the Wildlife Research Institute.  Outside, Vinnie the (Meadow) Vole made fast furtive forays from under the bear scale for sunflower seeds.  The two pictures are of the same vole.

Chickadees fluttered close as I poured  sunflower seeds.  A red squirrel climbed up my blue jeans as I clicked the picture of the downy woodpecker showing its bill that is so much smaller than the hairy woodpecker?s in the November 15 update.

Red squirrels have their thick winter fur that?s never thick enough to be active when temperatures are far below zero F.

Thank you for all you do.

Go Tigers! :D Good luck today Ra!

Cal, nice pics today! Dr Rogers has the best camera! How cool a squirrel ran up his jeans! That Jason is still a jerk! Glad he let the girls be with their mom and not the girlfriend's mom! How big a turkey are you cooking? My family only likes the white meat so I always get a breast. Only takes 3 hours in an oven bag. Had leftovers yesterday so a pizza sounds good for today's supper!  In the dog shame the dog ate half of the $20. Can you get that replaced if you take it to the bank? Never had that happen and would hate to lose a twenty! Hope your weather straightens up so the girls can go outside to do their business! Did Polly have any problems coming home last night? The moles are really active right now! They are tunneling all over my front yard! Easy to break a leg if you step in their tunnels!

Jp, your computer, dang it...that always happens! Glad your cold is somewhat better. I hate a runny nose!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NEVA!!!!!!   If I remember correctly, you are of a vintage age like me! We're oldies but goodies! lol   Jewelies, our snow has melted, rained most of the day yesterday. We got our winter supply of sunflower seeds for the bird feeders at Tractor Supply yesterday. They always have them on sale Black Fridays. Went to Carson's and got a nice blanket for $14, some socks and then went to Kohl's for a new foam contour bed pillow. My chiropractor said it would be really good for my neck, so I've slept on one for years. Got some new slippers with memory foam on the inside bottoms, and they are so comfortable. The pillow has memory foam, too. Rues, Robin is such a beautiful girl, and Boober is a cutie. Wow, ra, yard work--sounds like you need to give yourself a big treat after all that work. Cal, I sure hope you have some good weather so the horses can be outside. Yesterday, I thought about you, getting your big b. tv. at the walmart sale last year What size is it? Last week, a woman passed me at walmart who looked so much like her, that I wanted to ask her if was you, even though I knew she couldn't be. Jp, hope your cold takes a hint and scrams! Dlong, I'm reading Danielle Steel's book Undercover and then going to start on Michael Connelly's The Crossing. I have Jonathan Kellerman's The Murderer's Daughter. I'm just a reading fool right now!! all from the library  Hi, bischue, deb, Willi, nora, pat, chippy!!!!!   Lunch time--see you later---

Hi Jewelies!  Whew.  That was too close!  Yes, we won... 12-0.  Now, for the big ACC game next weekend...  I see Ohio State beat U of M... big time.

cal... What a huge turkey!  Guess you have a lot of mouths to feed though.  lol  Do you have any left after feeding some to all the dogs?  Nice pics in the update today!  Voles and moles... moles don't have eyes, do they?  Do voles live above ground and moles underground?  Is that the difference?  Voles are just fat mice to me!  lol  Are they much longer than a mouse?  I have lots of questions about voles, don't I?  lol

Hi obsver!

rues... Thanks for the extra "Go Tigers".  lol  Did you watch the game?  haha  I know you hate football, just thought I'd tease you a little...   ;)

JP... Sorry you have to wait for your new computer!  Glad your nose is better, but those dry coughs are very annoying, aren't they?

Hope everyone is having a good Saturday!  I've got bread in the oven and muffins in after that.  The girls are coming tonight.

Doesn't a vole have a long narrow face and darker in color?  Last week, one was in our house (I think it go into the basement and Jules brought it up.) Mr. O cornered it, picked it up with a dishtowel and put it outside. We have plenty of mole action in the yard. The first time I saw a mole mound of dirt in our field, I was astonished--didn't think they ever dug in anyplace other than in yards! lol They sure have big digging patties. Ra, do you have any of those treats left? I have a real weakness for potato chips and Krogers restaurant tortilla chips with salsa. That's why I rarely buy them. Give me chips, a good book, and I'm good to go!!  Thursday, one of my sons brought over a huge turkey with a ham inside that he had fixed in his friend's smoker. I furnished the stuffing, etc.  Rues, I'm hungry for pizza right now. Wouldn't it be great if all of us Jewelies could get together? Can't you imagine all the laughing?
