Hi Jewelies! It's a bright and sunny day but cold. We still have a little snow from earlier this week. Looks like rain and snow coming for the weekend. My sis stopped by with Madison! Wilson was not happy so he ran, all puffed out, to the basement! It was nice having a dog in the house but I don't think Wilson would agree!

Cal, scary having a killer in your area! Glad he was caught. Long time ago, Crow had a friend that stole a tire from a neighbor's garage. The police found him right away because they followed the tire track in the snow where he had rolled the tire to his house! He wasn't a very smart thief! He got into some more trouble and eventually did time in the penitentiary. He ended up living a good, honest life and died last summer. Yesterday Robin got a 1099 from Workforce WV, used to be called the unemployment ofc,  stating that she had received benefits for $6,900! She has never been laid off in all the years she has worked! She called their number which transferred her to their fraud line. Apparently this is happening a lot this tax season. They seem to think that last year when the Experian Credit Reporting Co was hacked the bad guys are stealing social security numbers and other personal info. They told Robin they would contact the IRS and that she didn't need to add this 1099 on her tax records. Also gave her some other numbers to contact to see if there is anything else out there in her name and other info. She had to take the afternoon off so she could make a bunch of calls. It seems every time we think things are going smoothly, it all blows up!

Jo, I found Chili-O with onions at Walmart in Marietta, Ohio, last week! Never had it with onions included but I'll give it a try since I don't have any other choice if I want that brand! I always put fresh, diced onions in my chili. Wonder if I should omit them?

Don't forget Blacklist is on tonight! Have a nice afternoon and evening! Stay safe and take care! :)

hi rues first thank you once again i forgot red on tonight! but got the auto record but will watch it! it will help knowing you are watching it with me! :) oh jim would hate chili o with onions. we have not gotten jims unemployment deal yet first time he drew that. i guess we get something for it we had taxes taken out of it. so funny crows friend tire roller doing that in the snow! not funny he got in more trouble but good he changed his ways sorry crow lost his friend.  :( brownie counter surfing Brownie! jims dad sent home couple huge sacks of left overs bbq beef fries steak roast fish chicken hamburger mac and cheese dogs ate their food right up!  it was a little scary with that guy but cold snowy wonder if he knew the people in that house cops found him. i looked at that picture again yes he is crying like i said what a crying shame..

Rues  I put three chopped onions in mine all the time.  Not big ones  About egg size.  I like onions and I would like your chili.  LOL

Cal made me tense reading about shooter at large.  Very Tense!  Even when they are loose and pretty far away I get tense.  Long ago when I worked for North Eaton Telephone a man escaped from the prison farm and we were called to the home of an older couple to fix the phone.  Both of the old people were found dead from this guy.  The township was on edge for several days until he was found at his mother's house in Cleveland.  What a dummy.  Why did he not go home first?  Leave the old people alone.

Still feeling good. Thank God

God Bless Ya'll GN

Liz taking her dad's money does not seem like much of a burden to him.  He seems invincible to everything.  I have not seen this many times, but I know that I like Liz.

Daily Updates
Education and Flying Squirrels - UPDATE January 29, 2021
29 January 2021
 Print Email
Flying Squirrel
Flying Squirrel

After this year of Covid that hampered our ability to educate groups of young people at the Bear Center, we are hoping for a better year in 2021. As part of that we are creating new opportunities on the nature trails and in the Ecology Hall. In the works for the nature trail are new QR codes that people can scan with their cell phones Flying Squirrel taking peanut
accepting a peanut
and immediately get more information and/or see videos of bears, wolves, and foxes that were taken at those very spots on the trail.

In the Ecology Hall, a new critter for Critter Time is a tiger salamander that is shown in lightning-fast action toward the end of this 1:21-minute video as it snatches and thrashes a wax worm. https://www.facebook.com/160714344098264/videos/1116634478750446/

At the WRI, a new distraction to desk work and writing is flying squirrels that now accept humans. The photos show one watching a human approach and then accepting a peanut in the shell.

Thank you for all you do.

Today, our king penguins Ethel and Elliot, along with gentoo penguins CJ, Oshie, Sunny, Double, and Trouble, took a quick field trip in the snow to visit their neighbors, polar bear Kali and grizzly bears Huck and Finley. Through the cooperation of our Bird and Carnivore animal care teams, our penguins were able to get up close to see the polar and grizzly bears. The penguins willingly approached. These penguins reside indoors at Penguin & Puffin Coast and are given the option to participate in spontaneous winter walks that are enriching for the birds. The walks are not pre-scheduled and do not occur on any regular basis. King and gentoo penguins are native to the Antarctic region
