hi ev1,
bus trip was tiring, but good. at the amish lunch we had a real feast. chicken, roast beef, green beans, buttery mashed potatoes, fresh homemade wheat bread with peanut butter fluff. four kinds of pie. the best of all joan ate everything. she had beef and enjoyed it for the first time in months. she even had an extra piece of coconut cream pie. what a very good day. very glad we went. we love amish country.
bus trips not so much. you really can not see well out of a bus. i should say our driver was great. when we neared the amish lunch home the roads got narrower each time we turned a corner. from a two lane state rt. to a 1.5 lane county rd. to a 1.2 lane township rd. very exciting. then we got to the uphill drive at the amish home. it was so skinny the bus stuck out over grass on both sides. we went up toward the house for quite a ways. maybe 1/8 mile to a less than flat turn around where we then got off the bus and started climbing uphill for another 100 yards or so. driver was really good.
we went to Warthers carving museum near Walnut Creek after lunch. first class presentation. very interesting. the owner carved ivory boats to scale, and was historically accurate back to viking and prehistoric days. he showed us how he made strings of ivory for tiny ropes on his ship models.
he is the grandson of the carver of ebony trains in dover ohio. Where they also make first class kitchen knives.
then we went to Sol's in berlin ohio for about an hour. joan bought many bags of stuff ranging from noodles to a woven wood bread basket. she was delighted.
i love this time of year. baby animal cams everywhere. eagles, bears, raccoons, porcupines, robins, falcons, geese, ducks, owls, herons, all from my easy chair all day and all night.
Father's Day was great too. our daughter, debbie, came over and made a great steak dinner which we all enjoyed very much.
gtg now god bless and keep you all. thanks for being here.
