National Audubon Society: Watch this adorable Piping Plover video
Piping Plovers take refuge under a parent for warmth and security. But sometimes it can get crowded under there!
https://www.facebook.com/NationalAudubonSociety/videos/10153854601584007/How many Piping Plover chicks can fit under a parent plover?
These adorable little families are a delight to watch sprinting across the sand, foraging for worms and chasing the waves. Tiny - and cute - as they are, Piping Plovers are vulnerable to the effects of their fellow beachcombers, humans.
So if you're heading to the beach, be sure to share the shore with plovers and other birds by:
1. Leaving no trace. Remove all trash and recycle whenever possible.
2. Disposing of fishing line properly.
3. Keeping dogs on leashes and obeying local laws regarding dogs.
4. Respecting protected areas and signs.
