A very nice detailed comparison of wolfs and coyotes....note the last paragraph of the difference in eating habits.....Only coyotes eat domestic pets!

https://twitter.com/i/status/1702035327844761874
A bobcat and coyote drink out of the same watering holes in AZ peacefully....until the Javelina come in at the very end.

Morning all.....got a little rain in this morning...thankfully....maybe more at the end of the week..the last weeks of September "could" be rainier than the last 5 months combined....severe drought.

that between the ribs muscle "catch" not a lot better so taking it easier again today...I can breathe however, LOL....going to pick up some dinner at my local fav restaurant, The Foundry...grocery shopping can wait till tomorrow but no later.

Good Morning Beakers

Beakers who asked about Bandit, it was just a regular vet visit for him to get his rabies shot.  They did notice that he had lost 1lb since last year, and said that was a lil concerning, so they did some blood work on him.  They said, if all the blood work was back today they will call, but if not, they will call on Monday or Tuesday by the latest.

tsk and kb - How are you all feeling, still sore?

clynn - Love the Wild Heart Ranch pics

Lani - How is the bee sting on your head?  Is it still hurting?

Phyl - I saw that creepy crawler this morning before sunrise.  We are already decorated for Halloween at my house and not by us!  I have walked into this thing 5 times!  :o

BL - I am not sure if it is Lee, but I am happy for the cool weather today.

I picked up Maggie yesterday and that gal weighs less than a pound!  Eats like a pig. I don't want my thoughts to go there. She looks great and has energy. Her eyes are cloudy and vision seems less than what it once was.

CLynn awwwww Wild Heart Ranch, esp. the bunnies; I thought 'Elaine'  perfectly expressed the way I feel today , which is rare. I'm usually just an even keel
sort of person.  My happy is by Pharrell Williams, "I'm Happy". No other song will give me that 'happy high'.  ;)

{{{Tsk}}}   feeling  better today? secret is liver sausage and just warm to spreadable--asked kinda for me.
I never eat liver when the bite hits the mouth ...
As a kid I use to fed my bites to the cat waiting under the dining room table, folks got wise. And then I'd pack it in my cheeks and excuse myself
for a bathroom visit, flush it. For a long time 'they all' (Larry/Dan too) thought I just wanted to get of to doing the dinner dishes. LOL But, got wise to
that. Then  when I came from  Jr. High ond afternoon there was this humongous bottle of dessicated liver pills and a glass of ice water on the kitchen
table. Blah! I  soon figured out a   way around that too!  ;)

{{{KB}}} hopefully doing better today;  tks for coyote/wolf comparison; enjoyed the coyote/bobcat video poor cat looks starved it needs to eat the javelina!

{{{Lani}}} hopefully that wasp sting is healing right up

Lisa on the MRF cam that was an insect of some species. Judging by the silhouette on lens,  I've seem then here.  Your Halloween decor outside ---just keep
tearing the   web down. On the other hand Missy Spider might be eating other insects :-\   Sending good wishes for Mr. Bandit and his blood test.

Good Morning Beakers!  78 now going to 84!  Very humid and cloudy with rain expected about 3 pm! No 90s in the forecast!
Clynn, great trip!  Your mother will be he happiest one, I am thinking!  Do you all stay at your sisters or in a motel!  Cannot imagine so many women in the bathroom in the am! Lol.
Lisa, hoping Bandit lost weight due to his anxiety of the kittens in his house and getting used to Misty!   Stress, on the other Hand makes me want to eat!
Phyl and Lani, Jim and Mike are to be congratulated for continuing to work!  Not easy desk jobs!
Clynn, your mother is amazing! You have good genes!

I too bruise very easily!   Blood thinner.

KB  Liked the piece on coyotes and wolves.  We do have coyotes and foxes here - not a lot but you see them every now and then.  Guess we know who's boss at the watering hole  ;)

LISA  Let's hope it was a "stress" loss of weight for Bandit...Rough few months he had to go through.  Today is a much better shoulder day for me.  The 48 hours are over  LOL.    Great shot of that spider and web tho.  I just finished putting up ghosts and turkeys+ at my house  ;D

PHYL   Sweet Maggie  :-*.  Actually I eat liver sausage about twice a year.  I don't eat all the processed/deli lunch meat - that's Tim's choice.  Will eat fresh off the bone ham or turkey.  You were very clever with the foods you didn't like as a child.  ;D

Leaving in a few minutes to go 1 hour out to Geneva Ill to celebrate friend Pam's - in my girl group- surprise 78th b-day set up by her dtrs as it is her first b-day without her husband who died in March and they didn't want her to feel funky.  Luncheon at a fav restaurant of hers and then we walk a couple blocks to a wine tasting!!!  Barb is driving and she is a wine drinker so she tolerates it well.  I unfortunately do not any more, but will certainly enjoy the tasting. ;D     As an aside Pam returned on Wed from a river boat cruise from a city in Switzerland I think  - ending up in Paris.  Can't wait to hear.  Sent her a text  " on 0 to 10 scale how was the trip? - She answered " A 20!!"  ;D

Clouds - high of 70

Tig - Sorry it took so long to check in - must be a very busy place!  Hope you guys are settled in now. :)

Tsk - So, after Tim gets to the 1 year mark (following the surgery he had), they plan to ease up on the amount of blood thinners he is taking?  Poor Tim, it has to be so hard for him to be so careful.

Morning Puff  :)

Karen - We have 'Vitamin Water' - 0 sugar - Raspberry dark chocolate - 20 fl oz - 10 calories (bought from Costco).  My hubby thinks it is very good!   Actually my Mom bought it and did not care for it and brought it over here, and Kris loves it!

OG - Like your anniversary post for Tig & Camper - very nice!!

Lani - Liked the Maanaki & UQ chick vid.   Happy they were able to rescue the two chicks. :)     Great info for port to port tours!  That must be hard for you when Mike leaves out of town for several days, because you have to wonder if he is really doing alright, as he won't tell you any different! ;)  Some men are so stubborn and think they can handle anything themselves! :-\
Glad your DIY wasp catcher is working out for you - thank you to Oldguy too!

Phyl - Wishing Jim all the best and hope he continues to feel a bit better each day.  Thanks for links - love the ultimate 'happy' play list!!   Just read about your Maggie - as you mention, at least she is still eating!!  That's always so important; eating & going potty.  Happy that she keeps hangin' in there! :-*

BL - You & Pip should write a book of your trips!  Like the Robert Plant & Alison Krauss vid!

Clynn - Wow! That is a fun trip to look forward to and so carefully planned!! ;D    Your sis will be so surprised when she sees you!!  Your sis will have the best birthday!! ;D ;D      Like the Wild Heart Ranch pics  :)

Tsk - Glad your muscles are feeling better - just don't overdo, as you tend to stay busy!

Kb - Liked the coyote & bobcat vid!   Take care and glad you are going to try and rest a lil today  :)

LisaG - Hope all is good with the blood work for Bandit.  It doesn't seem like 1 lb is much, but I guess they want to play it safe, and you will have peace of mind too. :)
Yikes - that spider!! :o   Lol - you are decorated for Halloween already! ;D

Beakers have a nice day  :)

Bearstudy - September 8th, 12-year-old Daisy (Shadow, RC, Bow, Daisy) added to the stream of mothers by showing up with three cubs, two females and a male. That leaves one more possibility, 5-year-old Chloe who is due for cubs this year, to show up and set a record of 16 clan mothers in a single year. Last year was a good food year, making it likely Chloe would have cubs with her if she shows up somewhere.
The picture Lorie took of Daisy is an excellent ID picture even if the ears are cut off. She was focusing on Daisy’s blaze and the line of white under her chin that we know her by. Nice.
No shots heard yet! Thankful.

Daisy 12 years, her mom is Bow born 2006, mother is Shadow

No Shots Yet, Bentley and a Porcupine - UPDATE September 11, 2023

With no shots heard yet, our attention was on Bow’s one-year-old son Bentley who came in with a porcupine quill stuck over a half inch into the end of his nose. We hardly ever see a porcupine. I don’t know how he found one. We fed him while Mike Johnson used a pair of pliers to pull the quill out of his fast-moving nose pad, which he did as you can see. The quill was about 1 and 3/8ths inch long—not as big as it looks in the picture. Good job.

Still no shots heard - Long Lost Jani is Back and a Splashing Good Time - UPDATE September 12, 2023

We have not seen, or possibly not recognized, 12-year-old Jani here since she was a cub with Braveheart in 2011. That’s when Lorie Kennedy took her first Bear Course and took the picture by which we identified Jani a couple days ago. We suspect she doesn’t live near here because of the probable lack of visits and her two cubs (female and unknown) are the smallest of all the cubs here at this time. In addition to matching her cub picture, she acts like her mother Braveheart who had a habit of cruising the area to run off other bears as her cubs fed peacefully alone. Jani is a cruiser, too.

This sighting makes a record 16 litters for clan bears this year, and we are still keeping our eyes peeled for Chloe and hoping to identify a mother that is so shy she is probably not a clan bear. The 16 mothers are now: RC (24), Donna (23), Summer (14), Jani (12), Daisy (12), Sadie (9), Lucy (7), Luna (7), Sallyann (5), JM (5), Olive (4), Kaiya (4), Arly (4), Libby (4), Andrea (3), and Ivy (3).

We changed the name of RC’s cub Rocky to River. Rocky was too much like Rockie to keep.

At the Bear Center, "Pooch Pal" caught Tasha doing what she likes to do—have a good time splashing. It is heart-warming to see her safe and so carefree in this 3 ½ minute video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7Q2iJw_G7U.

Still no shots heard here.

Thank you for all you do,
Lynn Rogers, Biologist, Wildlife Research Institute and North American Bear Center

Jani with cub Jani is 12 years old, (Mother was Braveheart killed (2019) at age 18 she had 3 cubs at the time. It's illegal to shoot bears with cubs.)

Have fun Tsk! The last time
I was in Chicago we went to Geneva!  Went to Little Travelers had a light lunch and shopped.  Nice town but it has grown a lot since I lived there.
Roosevelt Road is now a night mare!  We were all shocked!  Nothing stays the same.
Thanks for the bear study Lani!   When does hunting season end?

some bounce
A quick check in... we could not unlock the cabin door, had to drive back to casino and security came to open it. No cell service, no TV service at cabin. Watched a DVD then off to sleep.
Thanx OG
We got a spot of rain up here too.

TGIF Beakers!
Morning Lilbro, Blschue, Lori, Clynn, Tsk, Lisa, Karen, Oldguy, Puff, Eagles, Kb, Tig, Baz, Phyl, Peep, Jaspurr, Pink, Jilltosa, BL, Eburg, Weasel, Ezee, Bggolden, T40, ssrl, Maxie, Nrstooge, Omasawyer, Paulie, jicaji, LB, and All!

Hi Puff, Tig  :)

Eagles, Mike calls two times every night he's gone on a trip. First call is after work and he is resting before he leaves for dinner, and then he calls me to say good night. I think he gets extra exhausted on his Ohio trips. He'll be leaving the week of the 25th for Louisiana. Have a good day!  :)

Karen Mike will be 80 in November and he plans on working two more years. Every mid year he tells me "two more years" LOL! Mike bruises easily as well.

Lisa, No problem with any of the bite spots. All is well.... Lots more wasps on trap this morning! I pray Bandit's blood work will come back negative for anything serious.... maybe, he's been stressed out by new addition to family, and then all the babies... things like that can upset a bachelor's way of life.  ;D ... hate spiders that create webs overnight. You can't see the web in the daylight, and walk right into them.

{{{Kb}}} No one would ever want to be near a Javalena. They like to lay in their drinking water too, especially when it's hot. That's why I see this home owner has many water bowls available for wildlife. We did the same when we lived in Scottsdale. One large tub filled with 2 feet of water behind our property for the large critters, mule deer, coyotes, big javalenas, and 2 large heavy duty platters with a water drip (outside our kitchen fence) for small critters, quails, rabbits, baby javelenas, probaby a snake or two  :o... Rest easy and take care.

{{{Tsk}}} The Royal Albatross program does an excellent job of keeping track of all their charges year in and out!... happy to hear each day you are more comfortable, yep, you better get the glasses adjusted. When I had my fall with Sadie a couple of springs ago. My glasses needed to be adjusted three times or more... have a fantastic time with the girls! What a special birthday for Pam. What awesome trips she had!

Clynn, it wasn't Manaaki and friend UQ chick the rangers picked up... they both were on their home base practicing for their big moment.... I just checked on him, I can see his baby fuzz waving about. It's 4:37am Saturday the 16th and still dark. :-* ... I wonder how big the hive was when they finally decided to get rid of it.... What a special birthday for your sister, a reunion of some sorts with all the girls gathering. You're mom will be the happiest!!!  ;D I wonder if Cathy's husband will be prepared! LOL!   Sweet WHR babies and Keebler.  ;D

Phyl, beautiful morning on the Flyaway! The ultimate drinks mixed! Great song list! I'll add to Clynn's, my fabs are "Oh Happy Day" "I can see Clearly now" "Dancing Queen" "Ain't no Mountain High Enough", I could go on and on. Love them All!..

Good Afternoon Puff and all :)

{{kb}} - Take it easy moving around today.

clynn - Sounds like a fun girl's trip, and what a nice surprise for Cat!

Phyl - ((Maggie))  Thanks for the good wishes for Bandit.   :-*

karen - I am hoping that is the only reason for Bandit's weight loss, too.

tsk - Glad to hear that your shoulder is much better today.  Jeff took that pic of the spider and web. Enjoy the "surprise birthday celebration" for Pam! It sounds like it will be a fun time.

E4E - Thank you!

Lani - Good news on the bee sting bites.  Thanks for the bear study update.  Glad no shots were heard!

tig - Oh no, sorry about the room situation.

Bob Roth took this photo of believed Nancy and Beau's new nest not too far away from the old one. They have worked on it all summer.
For those who forgot, our baby and nest fell down in one of our many awful ice storms, baby died..(April 1?)

Now we need to lobby for camera placement in the tree....LOL

Lisa, let us know about Bandit!  Is he eating well?
I called the county today to see if they haf a schedule for tree pickup as the pile next door is now falling in the street!  You  can hardly see traffic coming down the street  when leaving my drive way the pile is so large!  They are coming to look at it and I suspect there maybe an early pickup. He said it will be at least 35 days to get it all. I apologized for calling as I know they are busy and he said, no, you are fine!
My friend the vet came over yesterday and put a bird feeder on my window!  The birds have not found it but a squirrel was in the feeder when I got home from shopping!
A whooping Crane flew over the house today!
