Good Morning Beakers!

Lani, cute good night pic!  Iris, sigh, that is a beautiful egg. I wish it had a chance... Sam & Sophie spent a good part of the day on the deck, they love it out there and we had a warm day yesterday! I had to trick them to get them in for the night. Harley likes it out there as well, but not as much as the youngsters do! How long is the drive to Gila Bend? Mike doesn't stay the night when he goes there, right? Look at the phenomenon I noticed last night! Sam asleep on Harley, and Harley doesn't seem to mind!  This is a first!

tsk, that doctor needs to call you back! I hope he can get in today and they can do something for him!. Mom's cardiologist had her do an MRI while I was there, they suspected a partial blockage and wanted to access the need for a stint. Of course, it came back that it is pretty much a 50/50 chance of a heart attack. My sister Becky, who worked years at Providence Heart Institute in Portland, doesn't think she should do it. She is over 90 years old and isn't having any symptoms of any problems. She gets along wonderfully as she is and Becky said it would be risky for her. Mom has always done exactly what the doctors say, so she can't decide. I think Becky and Jennifer will be there in June, I am sure there will be more discussion...

Lisa, Kelsey has one of those big 2x2.5' desk calendars, I put it on the door to the garage and she writes everyone's appointments on it! Then she puts them in her iPhone, but it's always the paper calendar she looks at!

karen, for some reason I thought it sounded like Mickey was already at your house! But not yet! So glad to hear that she is coming for a good visit with you and Piper! A sprinkler system would be good, and I bet Piper would love it too! And a good selling perk! Hope you can find some orange trees!

Phyl, are you and Jim feeling better? I sure hope so! Still praying for both of you... Oh those dandelions in the 365! Yesterday Ed notified me that he had pulled all of the dandelions in the yard. I never saw any! I told him I was so glad, but there are a few more pressing things he needs to get done! His last day at work is Friday!

Baz, are you running around busy again?

An April Adoration

by Sir Charles George Douglas Roberts

Sang the sun rise on an amber morn —
'Earth, be glad! An April day is born.

'Winter's done, and April's in the skies, Earth, look up with laughter in your eyes!'
Putting off her dumb dismay of snow,
Earth bade all her unseen children grow.

Then the sound of growing in the air Rose to God a liturgy of prayer;
And the thronged succession of the days
Uttered up to God a psalm of praise.

Laughed the running sap in every vein,
Laughed the running flurries of warm rain,

Laughed the life in every wandering root,
Laughed the tingling cells of bud and shoot.

God in all the concord of their mirth
Heard the adoration-song of Earth.

Phyl, ooh, I love the 365! I would love to fall asleep on that little island just listening to the haunting call of the loons...  I bet your Mom's banana bread with walnuts was to die for, I wish I had a piece right now, to go with my coffee! Great poem, April is spring! The trees are coming back to life! Tsk, Sorry to hear about Tim and hope you were able to get in touch with his doctor today.
Clynn, All of my southern homes have had sprinkler systems. It seems it’s pretty standard equipment in the warmer climate areas or should I say hot?.  They are usually set to come on at 4 AM which allows the area to be watered with little to no evaporation occurring, and then the leaves dry off in the morning as soon as the sun comes out to prevent damage from water staying on too long.
I was trying to buy the lemon trees from Lowe’s because that is where I can get delivery through Instacart. They do not go to Home Depot or Ace.. I have two plants reserved at Ace, which is near the dentist and will pick those up today along with a tomato cage.   Cute picture of salmon, Harley.
Tough call for your mother between blockage and surgery. He probably does have a better chance of an extended life with a blockage, then with surgery although the stent implant seem to take very little time and not a tremendous amount of anesthesia. Prayers for her continued good health.
Lisa, are you feeling any better?
Lani, Sorry about the detours Mike had to go through coming home from Gila Bend,  See that Ed is retiring Friday and wonder if Mike has a date set yet?
Phyl, Seems like all is quiet at your house. Hope it stays that way.

I have !! Been following  Ling-Xiaozhe since  March 16, 2025!    I've fallen in love with him.  Ling is listed at the top in my prayer list at the end of my posts.  Here at home I have a candle lit for Ling with  a written prayer underneath.
The original video is a bit longer.  I'm going to post Ling's  update later.

Good Morning Beakers

Karen had suggested that I try taking a Zyrtec yesterday, so I did.  It dried out my nose some that was running like a faucet, and it has calmed this cough some too.  So, thank you all for the get well wishes.   :-* :-*

tsk - Yep, sore ribs from the coughing.  Reading about ((Tim))....hoping the doctor returns your calls soon.

karen - Sorry that Instacart wouldn't let you order those lemon trees, but I hope you are out getting some today.  Ugh, gnats!

Lani - I thought that was interesting too about the iPad, and will remember that for the future if it happens to mine. Glad to hear Mike had a short trip this time, and is safely back home.

clynn -  ((Kelsey)) she is a paper calendar girl, too.  :D  1968 and 2023, cool!

Phyl - Love the pretty flowers this morning in bottom of your post.  Love the April Adoration, too.  That is how we like our banana bread too!  Jeff slathers his in butter.

tig, kb....did you all make out OK with that weather last night?

Yes, Lisa, the storm split at the cities (as it often does). We had medium wind and some rain.

Lisa - yes, they had anticipated we have sun and warming after our morning rain. Didn't happen. A cloudy day which stabilized our area and the system split. Was watching a storm chaser where they also confirmed.

Brutal winds though and all night long. Heard a creepy noise off and on at night that I never identified. Like a screeching animal....raised the hair on my head, that creepy.

Hope you feel better soon.

 Apr 28, 2025  #royalalbatross #albatross #newzealand
It's weight day at the colony and the rangers head over to the hidey hole that SSTrig has been staying in lately and pick her up & bring her back towards her original nest. They put her in the basket & take her weight and then return her to the grass. Enjoy some beautiful closeups of SSTrig while we have them!! She is 91 days old today- 3 months old! She is still very young to be so mobile walking so far from her natal nest. She barely stayed ten minutes this time before she was on the move again paddling over to the right and then out of cam view again! She made her way back down the hill once again as seen from the H-cam. Thank you for watching!

Signal Station Trig chick from the Plateau area. Since she is out of view from the cam -  Photo taken by ranger.

Kicking and showing her displeasure at being moved back to her nest for weigh in day. She's a feisty girl! LOL!  ;D

Since hatching at 286g on the 28th of January, the Signal Station Trig chick has grown to 5.8 kg on day 91 (Tuesday 29th of April). This is a 0.1 kg increase on last week’s weight. Today’s weight is 300g below average for a female toroa chick of this age but still within the healthy weigh range. We are not yet halfway to fledging in September, all the chicks still have a lot of growing and developing to do.

Ms. Trig's current hidey-hole. She's the white fluff ball on the left going down the hill. (No wonder the Royal cam doesn't see/find her.)

Good morning Beakers!
Good morning Tsk, Karen, Clynn, Lisa, Paulie, Eagles4, Baz, Phyl, Lori, Kb, Oldguy, Puff, BL, Ezee, Eburg, Weasel, Jilltosa, Eaglesrock, Emyrauld, Blschue, Tig, Peep, Jaspurr, Lindy, Bggolden, T40, ssrl, Nrstooge, jicaji, LB, and All!

Clynn, darling pic of Sam and Harley... love your morning pics and Norwich Peregrine/4 eggs ...Depending on the traffic, it's about a 2 1/2 - 3 hour drive to Gila Bend. Mike has driven over 900 miles since Friday. He hasn't spent the night in Gila Bend for about a year now. He doesn't sleep well out of town, if he's in the state he returns home, unless he has an early meeting or appt.... I copy Karen's reply to you about your {{{Mom}}}. God bless her, sending prayers for good health and prayers for her beautiful daughters who are her caregivers.  :-*

Phyl, beautiful nature video today, a JB classic.. I agree with Clynn, a lovely serene place to call home... Mike just bought banana walnut muffins from Costco yesterday. I just had one, it's delicious. Thank you for more info on the Snow Leopard cub (thanks Clynn)

Karen, Mike thinks retirement in two years.... good luck at the dentist today.

Lisa, stunning morning pic ...Great to hear the Zyrtec was helpful! I'll remember that... continued prayers  :-*

KB, sounds like it may have been a fox you heard - in the spring, especially, they sometimes scream at night - very creepy and hair-raising sound - sounds like someone, or even a baby, is being murdered. A horrible sound. i remember the first time i heard it and then went out and saw its eyes glowing in the dark. lol, not anyone being murdered - just sounded like it. i have heard them at night every spring since then. Now I know what it is, and it makes me smile to know they are still around, now that I know what it is!  ;) :D Screaming foxes!  Listen to this video, nbelow, and see if it sounds like maybe what you heard, too. It seems to be more common when they have kits coming out of the dens to learn abou thunting and playing, etc., at night in the spring.

Howdy Beakers!  :)

This is a more fun video than the last one I posted. LOL. Be sure to turn the sound on! Fun to watch allthe way through to see the different bird species and which nuts or seeds they pick out, and their sounds. Love the male Cardinal bringing a seed to his girl!  :) :-* :-*

Thanks for this reminder. However, I don't think this was the sound......the sound held for a longer period of time. Not on and off....plus, I am very sure Ollie lollie would have been alert to that sound if fox. I'm flummoxed.
My roof looks fine, I checked. Still a mystery..
Yes, we do have fox around here so I will pay attention to that noise, but unfortunately not my noise last night.
