Good Morning Beakers

kb;D ;D on your April Fool pic.  Beautiful pic this morning.

baz - LOL, Beware of Practical Yolkers.  Looks like Punkin & Lil Bro had a great time on Spring Break.

oldguy - Thanks for the info.

tig - You are getting a good workout at PT.

Lani - Still have the heat on today, but may need to turn back off tomorrow.  Weatherman says, it wil be 77.  Crazy weather.

Phyl - Thank you.  Hope you and Jim both feel better soon.  Thanks for 365.

tsk - Yikes on your thunder boomer last evening.  I wanted to tell you, Bradley had his follow-up with orthopedic yesterday.  After them reading his MRI, he will have to have surgery.  He has a bucket handle tear?  I had to look that up.

clynn - I have not seen the price of eggs drop here either.  Great pics from BB!

Just for some context:

Behind the bandshell is a lake, Lake Harriet. Scott and I and before that myself and whomever would walk or ride bikes as they have both kinds of paths. Lake is around 3.5 miles around. Chris at 3 ran around it....hmm, before docs noticed both his hips had hip dysplasia..

We would have picnics in front of the bandshell for nice summer music. Can't remember if it was just several evenings a week or every night they scheduled it.  You get the picture.

Just returned from a morning event and it is still pouring with some thunder in the backround.  Ark anyone?

CLYNN   Happiness and music - so true.  I did a ton of macrame and rug hooking kits - Still have a 5' circular wool rug I use in the basement for my exercise equipment.   Sunny and Gizmo - Love it. ;D

KB  That is a beautiful bandshell!!!

LANI  Posted us a red necked tanager -What a beauty.

LISA  Some handsome yellow Easter tulips  ;D   Dang for Bradley.  I had to google it as well.  Not a common meniscus tear.  Is surgery scheduled?  Likely a day surgery.

I'll bet some of you heard the gasp within a 10 mile radius.  I'm still grinning, too.  I finally have a well-filled out male cardinal eating at one of the feeders in my kitchen bay window.   :-*   :'(

Because of my December tumble and because of bad weather and bad footing I've been remiss and unable to care of my feeders outside.  Some might remember how my niece's husband - a non-bird addict - did stop by back in February and fill some of the feeders.  For two weeks (?) now I've made myself do it.  The house finch, goldfinch, and chickadees have graciously been stopping by.

He's beautiful.  I got a cardinal back.  Now I'll be a piggy and hope for a mate. ::)

MADE MY DAY!

Happy Day, Beakers!  :D :-*

A Red-Shouldered Hawk made a dive for Zippo a couple of hours ago!! Yep, and he crashed right into the glass patio sliding doors!! Zippo was napping on top of her play space, about a foot-and-a-half from the patio doors, with her back to them. I was at the PC about 4 feet from Zippo, also only about 18 inches from the patio doors. Never saw the hawk until a big loud boom right behind me coming from the glass patio doors!  I turned around in time to see the hawk fly to a branch of a tall shrub right next to my patio, beside the back bog. He seemed to fly ok, and he sat there for just a minute, or less, before flying off - apparently unhurt. I went to get my binocs to get a good look at him, but he didn't stay long enough for me to get them. I think he didn't hit the glass all that hard, maybe because he possibly had been roosting very nearby. If so, he wouldn't have been able to get up much speed on his dive for Zippo. Zippo never saw it coming, and she jumped at the same time I did when we heard the boom against the glass. She didn't really react, and never said a word! I think that was because I pulled the drape by her enough so that she and the hawk no longer had a sight line between each other. I had seen a Red-Shouldered Hawk hanging out in front and back of my place often recently, as many of those same kind of hawks often do. I think it is a juvie, if it is the same one I've seen recently. If so, I hope he finds a meal elsewhere. It makes me wonder if he isn't finding enough to eat, to roost so nearby and dive for Zippo while I was sitting and moving around in full view only a few feet from Zippo. My songbird population around my home is extremely low - nowhere near the usual number of birds around for this time of year here this year. That makes me wonder if it's because of HPAI (Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza). If so, I imagine the local suburban neighborhood hawks may be having to work harder to find enough to eat. Anyway, the hawk, luckily, seemed uninjured, as far as I know, and definitely could fly normally, though I didn't get a chance to see if he looked like he had any non-flying injury, like to beak, or such, but at least he didn't get knocked out temporarily, like a different hawk, a Coopers Hawk, did 26 years ago when the same thing happened before I moved to "the beach." Zippo was undisturbed by it all, since she never saw the hawk coming, or going, and she settled back into her nap very soon after.  ;) :D :-* :-*

(((Phyl and Jim)))

Lisa, shoot, I hate that Bradley has to have that knee surgery. I hope it will have a great outcome. Seems like it's been a long time since the injury/MRI. Hate he's had to wait so long for the ortho to make that determination, since it sounds like the MRI was done soon after the injury - wish he could've had the surgery done sooner. Is he still on crutches? Hope he's getting around ok.

TSK, LOL on being buried with an unfinished jigsaw puzzle!!   ;D  Yes, Baby Bro is growing fast! He will turn 4 in late summer, and both of his parents are tall, so he may be taller than average for his age, but I don't really know. You can't really tell his height by him standing next to my LGN, who recently turned 7 yrs old, because she is at the very bottom of the height chart for her age - truth told, she maybe isn't even on that chart. We keep hoping that the clinical research trial she is in will help improve that situation, but it seems the challenge of absorbing enough of the nutrition in her feed (both her TPN via IV to her CVC, as well as her G-Tube) is still a challenge, so some other things are being considered to try to help her grow taller.

It's that "hongries" part of the day for me again, LOL. So I need to go.

Waving to All the Beakers!  Later, Gators.  ;) :D

Hello Beakers

We got about 1 inch of rain over night - lots of wind and lightning at times.  Mostly sunny this afternoon - hit a high of 73.

The Iceland volcano was an April 1 event only - it lasted about 12 hours.  However the earthquakes have been off the charts for 3 days now.  Because of the short time and lack of volume, no damage from this activity.

Meanwhile in Hawaii - Kilauea is still maintaining a fountain... Here is a short video on the fountaining near sundown yesterday...  Fountains exceeded 1000 feet at times.

Lani - Thank you  :-*

kb - Yes, they originally told him that it was an LCL sprain, he said, which was based on an x-ray, so after the 3/18 appt, they sent him got the MRI to be done.

tsk - Bradley goes back next week for the consult for the surgery and date.

Puff - Glad you were able to do it yourself, and got to see your cardinal.

karen
- Love the funny!  Thank you  :-*

baz - No crutches, he is walking with a cane to steady himself.

oldguy - I saw the radar early this morning for you all, looked nasty.  Thanks for the videos.

Good night, everyone  :)

Baz, scany Hawk  encounter  how are you and zippo! Glad everything worked out for everyone and was relieved not to read that your door was cracked or broken. I hope there is food someplace for the hungry bird and don’t know what you can put out to feed him. I’m really not sure what  hawks eat!

Hi Beak Room  :)

Lisa, Hi back at ya.

tsk, Regarding the storm a few days ago. No I wasn't in line for that one but I was for today's storm. Holy lightening thunder and downpours. Been going off and on a couple hours as it moved through. I enjoy thunder storms.  :)

Tig, I hope your back is feeling a bit better. I love heating pad on my lower back. The massage you had sounds nice. I'll join you with a hot chocolate with something in it too.  ;D

Phyl, So sorry about Jim! And you too not feeling well with that cold. My heavens when it rains it pours for you guys. Prayers for you both.

I read pages here from 3/31 to today. I didn't write anything down thinking I'd remember all I wanted to say to others. Guess what? I don't remember. Darn.

Wishing everying a pleasant evening and night.
Take care.
