Dogs pics really got to my heart - Shows even they know the value of the USA better than some citizens.   :'(

Have a truly memorable Memorial Day celebration.  Thanks and honor to all who gave so much - who gave their all.

Thank you all for the Birthday wishes.  Been having a wonderful weekend.  Lots of family from out of town are here and a different party at different houses Friday, Saturday Sunday and Monday.  It's a whirl wind but very fun.  I'll rest up Tuesday.   8)

KB   Goosebumps  with the anthem  :o   That forest map is so interesting. I would never have guessed that the 4 SE states would have the most forest ( outside of Maine)

BL   Well well, human error on that crash.  ::)  What were the odds that water truck would pass by  LOL

LANI   Beautiful posts with the soldier and dog  :'(

Well my niece was here promptly at 10 to set up my new computer and all going well until it came to plugging in the monitor and the plug is different.  ( monitor is only 5 yrs old)  Went to Best Buy and brought home what she thought was the right connection but it wasn't .  We needed a VGA to HGMI adaptor not to USB .  Only place we could find it was Amazon.  So I'm rehooked to my computer and if it comes early enough tomorrow, she will come and finish the job.  sigh

KB... It did not replant her poppies because they bloom for such a short time, the rest of the year is just foliage... unlike tulips, where the foliage goes away.

We went to the furniture store to check our options and got a great salesperson and we decided on 2 pieces of sectional that they will put together. Great color and faux leather and nice design and power headrest and power footrest that goes to zero gravity and a wider seat. I be happy. For now...

Yah!...tomorrow at 2pm....we will have a fly over of T6 Thunders....can't wait.

this is off of google....not sure it's accurate but am guessing close?

Decks done in a short time with 3 workers...I like him. A College student working off college debt and a business major. Same college as Chris went to 15-20 years ago.
They will come back for second coat if needed...but, he did use brushes, not rollers, yah.

It's my back. Yes, tsk I iced and heated it all day yesterday. Numbness in my right foot....is better today. But, thank you for your advice. I did indeed take better care yesterday. Made a walk today with Ollie, but will continue ice/heat and better care.

tig - Noted...I lost so many hardy perennials this year due to extreme cold and not enough snow cover, I'm re-evaluating all plantings going forward. Meaning, NOT so much...I have enough frankly to get by.

Lower deck pic is through the screen in kitchen. Not walkable for 48 hours.

kb - Deck looks nice.  Glad you relaxed some today.

tig - Glad you found something you all like.

tsk - Oh no, sorry about the monitor plug.  Hope the one you ordered comes in early for you.  Thank heavens for your niece setting up your PC.

ssrl - Sounds like you are having a great birthday.

Puff, Lani, BL and all
- Hope you had a good weekend.

Good night, everyone  :)

Hey kb you got US at the BBQ deck.

Don't try to draw us down to the hot tub cocktail party deck like a coyote and get saucy with us Bearnaise.  ;)

We'll be right there after the stain drys.

Kopje and Ollie Man will get along famously as Kopje has never met another sniff of a dog that he doesn't get along with.  :)

~ I was so privileged to have been flown in that very plane in the back a vomiting on that canopy.

The expert pilot on the stick was good and I said SIR give me the full ride rotatory engine and roll and he did. ~

~ A great USAF buddy of mine said from behind me on a busy NYC street this week

"Don't sink that ship 'bl' the voice said."

"The ship always did a little too much when you landed."

Without even turning my head.

What the F are you doing here. Hugs. Small World.

In the am bustle of the day we both had to run.

Both of us turned and Saluted each other.

This is the pilot that 1st landed me on the great Continent of Antarctica.

BL... wow... kinda reminds me of my Dad's story. His MN National Guard unit was federalized in 1940 (because... they knew...) and they ended up in the San Francisco area, learned coastal artillery, and he was in the Army band. His unit got sick from the shots and literally missed the boat to the Pacific theater. They were billeted in the Presidio. So my Mom and wedding party took the train out and they were married there in '42. His unit was split up and Dad (and Mom) went to the east coast, Myrtle Beach, where he learned to build Bailey? bridges and became a staff sergeant. Also learning there were a couple of gentlemen from France. They got along great as Dad was of half French ancestry.
Jump ahead a few months and Dad ended up in Belgium where they were holed up on the ground floor of a convent (the nuns were on the second floor). The building was bombed one day and a big chunk of roof fell through to the basement... just missing the mother Superior.
Jump ahead to the end of the war and Dad is walking down a street in Paris. Guess who he ran into? A couple of French gents that came up and kissed him on the cheeks. "Remember us?!?" Wow...

Memorial Day... remember  :-*

Memorial Day Salute to our Beakers and Family who served!

Good Morning Beakers!

Well, the pictures are HUGE today, I can usually get them back to normal, but not today!

Lani, solemn good night picture, love it...

tig, your Dad's story brought back memories...my Dad joined the Army/Air Force in 1946, he was 15. In 1947 the Air Force split from the Army and he stayed with the AF. He retired in 1969. He was stationed to several bases in the US, including Alaska. He married Mom in 1951. I was born in New Mexico 1952, Cathy in NM 1953, then to Germany. Back to New Mexico, Becky was born 1959. To England , then to Arizona. After that, a year in Viet Nam, then to Minnesota. Then he retired to Mom's hometown, Albion. My Dad was also of French ancestry! My maiden name was Le Grande!

kb, the Flyover will be beautiful! Just the sound causes goose bumps!

BL, there is no end to your experiences! Love hearing about them, bless you for sharing them with us...

tsk, oh no on your computer set up! And Best Buy didn't have what you needed, I am surprised! I hope you get the part you need early enough for your wonderful techy niece to get the job done! Sam was rolling around on the floor yesterday with the Meowijuana cigar, so I ordered each of them a new one!

Lisa, finally got a picture of my mailbox project!

TIG    Sounds like a very successful shopping trip.  :)   What a great story about your Mom and Dad.  Meeting the two French guys  :o :o  Thanks for sharing that.  :)

KB    Good rest yesterday.  Numbness the warning!   I'm so saddened by the fact I can't do as much as I used to do.  My body parts fail me.  LOL  However I can still do but with more caution and rest and patience.  sigh.   You have beautiful outdoor space but lots of upkeep with those gorgeous decks and gardens.  Tho we have learned that those who garden live longer   ;D ;)

LISA   I also ordered from Amazon those colorful ID tags for EVERY cord behind my computer desk - What a mess!!!

BL   Hints of more adventure in that post  :o :o

CLYNN  Always appreciative of your  Memorial collage. Thanks   Love that history of your military family.  :)   I have 1/4th French .
My maternal great grandparents were Trudeau.   Perfect little mailbox garden  ;D

Father, bless every Memorial Day gathering taking place today. Whether around a picnic table or a grave site, let each

moment be filled with love, honor, and reflection. May families bond over gratitude, and friends speak words of appreciation. Even as we

enjoy freedom, food, and fellowship, keep our hearts tender toward those who paid the ultimate price. Inspire us to pause, reflect,
and
offer thanks. Let laughter not erase the solemnity of the day but coexist with remembrance. May each gathering be a tribute of

thankfulness to the lives that paved the way. Amen.

Thanx Clynn

Dad's mom was a Proulx. His dad was Irish. My Mom was all German...

My brother's attempt to join the armed services in 1967 was thwarted by one word... "Must have full Extension of limbs" so... he joined the police academy which said "Must have full Use of limbs". He avoided Vietnam but was shot at and hit in the head with a brick on his first night of service in Aug, 1968. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selby_Avenue

Thanx to all who served our country
