Good Morning Beakers! It's CATURDAY!!

Lani, we were so hoping we would have another year of Iris and Finn...  Dunrovin has much to look at beyond the nest! And the birds that nest in the lower osprey nest hotel, I turned Merlin on a couple of years ago and there were many different little birds nesting in the hotel!  That nest has always looked like an ice cream sone to me and they don't build the sides up much!  I checked Looduskalendar, there have been no posts on the Estonia nests for over a year, I think the nests were abandoned because of the Goshawk attacks on the young. A herd of wild mustangs! Wow, would love to see that!

Phyl, loved the green yesterday! You know I love those felted critters! Good 365, big grouse on a tree limb, it really bounced when she flew off! A bit better each day for you and Jim, hope 'back to normal' comes soon...

baz, I agree, time gets away when you are looking for something on the web. Sam literally yells at me to come and play with him! I have a little basket of wool felt pompoms, throw them down the front tall and he chases them, sometimes jumping 3' off the floor to bat them down! I do that several times a day...yes, he is spoiled! Seems you have been forgetting to eat lately! LOLOL!  Honey girl flows much more smoothly than Mabel girl...Just sayin'!!  ::)

Puff, I also have a mystery nest in one of the hanging baskets on the porch.  There are silk flowers in it (my little cheat for that spot), I saw a small bitd flying from the porth yesterday so I took the basket down so see and sure enough, 3 little light blue eggs in a perfect little nest. Haven't been able to determine what kind of bird. She is so fast! I think Finch but not sure...

tig, sorry to hear about your lost screw! They have little eyeglass repair kits in drugstores or Walmart, they have different size screws plus a tiny screwdriver! Or if you have an old pair of glasses you can take one of the screws out... Glad to hear that Camper is healing!

tsk, no cooking for me tonight, the On The Hook food truck is in town today!

I had lunch Thursday with a couple of good friends from work, it had been over a year! We promised each other to do better going forward! Things have changed so  much since I retired, I am glad I left when I did... Good that your porch is ready for summer, I need to get my deck ready, Ed has put several things out there thinking I won't notice!  I can't wait for it to warm up a bit more, it was chilly yesterday!

karen, you are a good Mom to Piper, I am so glad she is there to help you! Sorry to hear about your friends... Did your yard mess get cleared up?

Paulie, yes, babies grow up so fast! I told both of them that I would supply the pictures to be shown on the big screen at each of their weddings! I only have over 3,100 pictures in my Pinterest Grandkids board!

Lisa, how are Bandit and Misty? Do they ever notice the cats outside? A couple of times I have heard a screech from the deck and when I check, the hair ridges on their backs are up and their tails are bushed out! There is a calico cat with a collar that comes in the yard frequently, to see if she can catch a bird. I think! A couple of times she has climbed the 3 steps to the door and looked Sam & Sophie in the eye. THEY DO NOT LIKE THAT!!!

One April Morn

by John B. Tabb

Twin violets amid the dew
Unfolded soft their petals blue
To find the winter's dream come true,
One April morn.

Two warmer, softer, violet eyes,
Beneath the selfsame April skies,
Fulfilled a dream of paradise,
One April morn.

Dawn-blossoms of a changeful day,
Ye would not till the twilight stay,
But, ere the noontide, sped away,
One April morn.

The surprisingly fraught fight for a pet cat in Antarctica

The Antarctic continent is cold, dark, and desolate for much of the year, so scientists want a cuddly feline companion to keep them company.
What could possibly go wrong?

I've mentioned it many times before Lani 87 and 87A a beautiful drive!!!  Another would be PCH, Pacific Coast Highway.  The Smokies, Rocky Mountain NP. . .

Good idea tsk on the nest extension pole.  How about we start a business?

A Decoy Nest!  Clynn   I mentioned mine a while back. . .My determined mourning dove mother insisted for two years to nest in baskets hung from an eave at corner of the garage, killing any flowers already there.  For a couple years my routine was to "plant" branches cut from a bush and stick them into the dirt until the inevitable eggs hatched and branches died.  Then planted real flowers to finish off time left for summer.  One time - she only got one chance each year - and no more honey, keep your feathers closed.

Up and down temps here make it difficult to do yard "stuff" here.  Two projects already done - New fence around the veggie garden (wind storms took down part of 50 year old cedar).  This week finished replacing the driveway pathway lights that connect to lighted brick mailbox at curb.  Electrician just called to set up Wednesday appt to finally install a flood for the USA flag.  For years I've not been honoring the flag by not lighting it up (I leave it out/up through the night all year around).  Ton didn't worry much about protocol.  Soon (Wednesday) rules will be followed!

I had to follow the memorial for Pope Francis this morning. . .
Two things to mention - religious or not, regardless of your choice of denomination - you have to make a  determined effort if ever in area around Italy to leave a day for Vatican City.  IT IS A MUST.  And there are better arrangements so you don't get caught in a mass of visitors.  Ask an agent?   I always only give two small descriptions of what to see.  It is indescribable.  The aura.  But you'll know forever the lasting impressions left in your mind and in your heart.

An important mention --- My Dad was Catholic, my Mom Lutheran.  I studied both.  About 15 I chose Lutheran.  Brother Rodney, Lutheran; Brother Edward, Catholic; Sister Rita, well...her son/daughter, husband all Catholic.

But that doesn't matter - If you ever can - visit Vatican City and Italy.

Good Morning Beakers....Happy Caturday!

I think I have come down with something too.  I started getting a stuffy nose last night, and a scratchy throat.  The pollen is horrible here, so I am hoping it is just allergies.

tsk - I bet you are glad to have the porch cleaning done.  I love your porch.  How was your lunch?

tig - Did your new phone arrive?  Reading further along, I see your phone came.

karen - Glad Piper's vet appointment went well, except for her tooth.  Aww, poor thing with the panting.  My Bandit gets like that too.  I think he knows where he is going when we get in the car.

BL - Yikes, hope you all are safe.

Puff - How cool the lil birdies are using your decorations for a nest.

Lani - Glad to hear that your cold is almost gone.  Very cool on seeing the wild Mustang's yesterday.

clynn - Love all the painted kitty rocks!  Yes, Misty and Bandit do notice the outside kitties.  Misty is actually sitting in the PC room window meowing at them as I type this...LOL. Cute wood pallet idea!

Phyl - Love your Tuxedo morning pics, and that mailbox...I will take one!

CLYNN  I see some of those Cat plaques the tails look like hooks..  I'd make all of them with hooks and hang scarves, coats and hats etc.  So cute.  It looks like they are painted rocks for the bodies.  :D    Over 3,000 pics of the grands  LOLOL  You could do all the walls in a banquet room with those and they are only still kids  LOLOL    Clever cat backpack  ;D

PHYL   Cute tuxedo things  :D   Was LANI's classmates in Vietnam...Unable to access either link for the cat article  :(

LISA  Bunny slippers   ;D  Great Olive Garden lunch.  Salad and soup but then took home spaghetti and meatballs for Tim and got more soup , and bread which I had.

HAPPY CATURDAY, BEAKERS!  :) :-*

Lani, did you take that picture of the Mustang? I would love to see them! That's great that you got to see a large group grazing near your drive! I was surprised you made appts in the valley on a Friday, after what you had said about the traffic there - and especially so with the weekend traffic. But I hope it was a good trip all the same, and then you and Mike enjoyed the sweet, cooling drive up to your home in the beautiful pines at elevation.  :) :-*

Clynn, I'm with you on the Honey vs. Mabel name. Not my decision. LOL. She's a sweet kitty!  :-* I don't know what food that was in your picture, but I want it!!

Lisa, you're going in the wrong direction! (re. wellness)  ;) Hope it's something you can get better from fast!  :-*

Phyl, I'm staying well, so far. Fingers crossed! You and Jim keep getting better... hurry it up, if you can!  ;) :D Hugs to you both. Maggie, too!  :-*

Tig, I'm thinking about a new phone - can get a free Pixel 9 Pro w/Gemini (don't want Gemini, LOL). Glad you got your phone. Enjoy it! Can't wait to hear what the reclining sofa repairman pronounces. Either way, glad it decided to work for you again. Camper, feel better fast!

Karen, yes, memories of schoolmates no longer with us... always a bit of a shock when first learning of someone else. Glad Piper doesn't have any pain, and hope it stays that way till the dental visit later. I guess I didn't follow along well with the typing lady's description of what vet you wanted to see, but maybe didn't? If I got that right... and if they were all in the same practice, or in different offices. Either way, it sounds like you had a good visit for getting Piper checked out. I know Piper was glad to get back home again though, for sure. Maybe you will be seeing some little fledglings flitting to shrubs or plants near your front door before too awful long... chasing after their Mom and Dad, begging for food. LOL.  :-*

TSK, Olive Garden? I didn't hear you talking about going to Olive Garden... hmmm... LOL, I have been trying sooo hard not to go eat there - their TV ads are killing me! It doesn't help that I'm skipping lunch lately - LOL, so watching those TV ads is sort of like going to the grocery store when I'm hungry... torture!

BL, dang! Shredded tent! Ugh... I hope the fire-affected areas get a good dousing of rain today! And no lightning strikes!

Puff, I don't have your travel background - not many do, for sure! But I agree, my drives on a small part of the PCH, and my many, many drives all around the Great Smokies, Blue Ridge Parkway, and VA's corresponding Skyline Drive, and drives to and from Rocky Mountain State Park, were all stellar - just wonderful. I haven't had the opportunity to drive Lani's 87 or 87A, but it would be special, for sure!

KB, is it painting time yet? Will you be putting that new green on the walls, or did you hire a painter for that duty? Have you enjoyed a good ride in the "healed" Jeep yet?

Paulie, glad to hear you're on the mend. Is a trip to the cabin happening this weekend? I don't know how far a trip that is for y'all, from your home. Maybe you can get away there for a little R&R soon.

I'm heading to the store to get a new flash drive - I'm going to take things into my own hands to see if I can get my TV to straighten up and fly right. Who knows what will happen!  ;D

Mabel/Honey/Honey Bun, below. Looking out from the inside... the reflection in the glass makes it a bit confusing to tell. LOL. My sister said she is going to put a little stool there so she can see out without standing up on her hind legs.
  :) :-*

some bounce

Yes, phone is all good. Even the current texts transferred! But only one year back of the calendar. I might keep my old phone charged for a while, in case I need to search back.

I just mowed most of the back grass. The sun makes it feel a lot hotter than the 59 degrees it is.
