Good Morning Beakers!

Lani, I love to picture you and Sadie on your morning walk, sorry to hear her walking buddy is having problems. Prayers for his heart to heal... Sweet sleeping puppy for your Good Night picture, looks so cuddly!

tsk, sounds like you are doing p/t on your shoulder with another puzzle! WOW, an afghan for a very tall guy! That would be heavy! Is it wool? Manly colors, I bet! I have a heavy afghan I made back in the 70s, it is Harvest Gold, Loden Green and Burnt Orange (that is what we called those colors back then!) I just can't get rid of it for some crazy reason...

Lisa, you and Jeff are so good to the outdoor cats, letting them stay in the shed as well as giving them B&B places!

karen, I watched the service for Jimmy Carter too, it was very moving. I hope some of the people there will be changed even a little. He was a kind and good man.

Puff, hope your arm is free today!

LA....

Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away. ~ Unknown

Just enough light snow falling this AM to make it a rough AM rush hour.

KB    The things we rejoice in.  LOL

KAREN   How many years did you work in DC?

LANI   Feel bad  - no walking buddy for the time.  Hope he can recover.  Sweet good night pup.  :)

PUFF  What do you mean with your second ER visit" down and out"  - You passed out in the ER??  Prayers for today that they can get you back on the right track.

CLYNN   Love that 3rd hanging.  I'd buy it in a flash.   LOL  I remember those exact color names  ;D.   Our seminarian's favorite colors are red and gray - interesting.  I love the combo.  It is acrylic yarn and washable.    Wow impressive from the air photo of LA

PHYL   Ingenious kitty seeking the high and dry on the bike  :D

Notre Dame wins - Went to bed at the tie -  :o :o

Shoulder much better today.  Crisis over  LOL

Good Morning  sunshine!    There was a tad of it peaking through the clouds earlier but now we are waiting for the rain!  40 degrees when Piper took her morning constitutional .
California dreaming was always a goal of many of my generation. Well, I’ve never had the good fortune of living there. It was a wonderful place to visit , now so many iconic buildings and neighborhoods have been completely destroyed. My hope is that. Somehow the areas will be restored as way many of the villages in Europe, following World War II . the devastation seems quite similar.  It has been a very sad week, and a sad start to the new year as they say it can only go up from here, and hopefully there will be some rain for the parched western parts of our country in the near future.

Tough old bones take time to knit, and I hope your cast comes off and you will be able to resume more of your normal life’s activities.   Do you let us know how the visit with the cardiologist is and prayers for more years of life, good life and travel.

Tsk, I cannot imagine the weight of your Afghan. You are an inspiration to all of us, and I wish I had just a smidgen of your energy and drive. Yours is a life well lived.

Lisa, I hope the kitty B&B is doing well this morning and bless you and Jeff for caring for these poor babies.

BZ, I checked on the plants this morning finds them still hanging in and not looking much worse for wear. Once we get through February, things should look better for them.

Phyl. You and Jimmy, careful driving in the snow. It could be pretty tricky on hills and slippery. Do you take care? Also, what was the results of Jim’s car accident? Did he get an estimate on Fixing the Ford?
I worked in Washington for seven years with Red Cross but their headquarters is located just a few blocks from the White House and it was a very fun environment to be in. I loved it there.

Tsk, Red and gray are  a nice accommodation. The colors, Zeeland mentioned remind me of the old appliances, harvest, gold, avocado, green, and there was a brown or bronze color lol

Good Morning Beakers

tsk - LOVE the black cat puzzle!  What do you do with your puzzles when you are done with them?  Do you donate them? Yea, the kitties are like the shed better than the cat houses.  We have two big bowls of food in there too for them. Wow, your seminarian is tall!  Glad to hear that your shoulder is feeling better.  :-*  Hope you don't get too much of a snowfall today.

tig - Your coffee sounded yummy!

kb - Yay on your toilet!

Phyl - I hope Jim bundles up having to go in and out all day. How much snow have you got so far?

Lani:D

((Puff)) - Good luck at the docs today.  Oh my, two trips to the ER?  I hope all is OK?

clynn:-*

karen - Kitties were out this morning romping in the snow for a bit, then headed back to the shed.  We are having some sunshine, but no melt for them to stay out.

Well just finished snow blowing and my guess 2.5 to 3" with ice under it on the public sidewalks.  Had to stand on the grass to push the blower so I wouldn't fall.  Then took salt and put it down on the public walkways.  We have a lot of dog walkers and if they're smart they will stay in the street.

PHYL   Good 365's  :)

KAREN    LOL  Must have been those School Sisters of Notre Dame in my formative years that said to us kids " An idle mind is a devil's workshop"  LOLOL  Finished the afghan today  - washed and blocked it .  With the leftover yarn I decided to start a shawl  for our shawl ministry using the same colors and pattern.   I bet those 8 years were a great experience in DC.  I thought you may have been with the Red Cross your whole career???

LISA   That sure looks like a real mitten in the cocoa  ;) ;)   Yes I donate the puzzles to the library spring book sale. Thanks for posting for KAREN .   Who are these stupid people that shoot at birds?  Really irks me.

Hello Beakers

We have missed out on most of the snow here - it was too cold to snow - several days of single digit lows with highs of teens/ low 20s.  Lots of snow/ice issues from this latest SE storm.  Lots of power outages - some still out in Indiana.  Atlanta had major problems, including an engine fire/failure on a airplane trying to take off this afternoon.

Puff - you let that slip out some years ago - I posted the version with a top hat, as I was sure you would love it... ;)

BL yeah it's so devastating.  it's truly hard to believe whole towns are just gone.

Have been recalling after forgetting really all the peeps I knew and hung out with in the Palisades. A dear friend who lived both in Manhattan and rented in the Palisades who took many of the pictures I have of Christopher as a baby. She unfortunately died of CML the year I moved back home to MN. I also visited her once in Manhattan.

Another friend for years and year including a visit from her here before Scott died had a lovely home with a view of the ocean and her friends. One of whom took my birthday party out on his boat in Marina del Rey where I lived at the time.

Another whom I hiked Will Rogers State park (the hills) with often with Christopher on my back in a back carrier. Am not sure how much of that park was burnt? It's such a lovely one.

These peeps all left the area for other parts around the time I did...December,1989.

Back then Pacific Palisades was a quaint little enclave that was middle to upper middle class. It felt like leaving the city.

I hear it was totally gentrified since I left and now/was a very wealthy enclave..

I lived all over LA btw...Venice Beach, West Hollywood, Marina del Rey, Playa del Rey and Sherman Oaks. I will still venture to guess I know California better than my hometown of Minnesota. I like to say I lived there in the "good years". LOL..70's and 80's
