LISA   Easter basket  :)

KB  Lake Harriet.  Looks like a nice place to visit.

KAREN   Looks like you lucked out from the storm.

LANI  Gotta rum but will read Albie report later

tsk - oh it is. Not a weekend would go by without at least a walk with Walter dog, or a bike ride around it.
Easy walking about 3.5 miles around. Next lake north is Lake Calhoun, about 5 miles around. We've done that one too. Third one north is Lake of the Isles....beautiful homes around that one.

Unfortunately, since 2020 This area borders Uptown.....a neighborhood in major disrepair and crime.
Without Scott I tend to avoid it although many still visit and do just fine.

Howdy Beakers!  :D

((Phyl and Jim)) Happy belated purrthday to Maggie!  P.S. The cute and funny cartoon about the dogs and their bones, in biology 101 class, was posted by Karen. You may have missed it with her post because you were busy with the storms and taking care of Jim and such, and it was an attachment that was kind of small. I thought it was so funny - it made me laugh out loud, so I enlarged it... just for extra measure. You and Maggie sip on something warm and snuggle up till you get further word from Jim. Consider asking a favor of a neighbor to pick something up for you the next time they run to the store?

((Karen)), so glad you and Piper are safe and sound, and didn't suffer any damage to home, car, or yard from the storms! Whew! Oh, just a reminder. about the difference between a tornado watch vs. a tornado warning... A tornado watch means conditions are such that a tornado could develop, but hasn't yet, so stay tuned, and prepare in case one does. You wouldn't need to take cover in your safe space if it's only a watch, just be prepared to take cover in case a warning is issued. On the other hand, a tornado warning means a tornado has either developed or is imminent, so take cover immediately in your safe place till the warning is over. Hope you don't have more of that weather anytime soon! I hope you can get an appt soon to see about getting some relief for your back.

Clynn, oh, that's awful your Mom is dealing with that flooded lower level. Ugh. I'm glad it wasn't worse than it was, and I hope she can get all the wet stuff out ASAP, and the drying fans and remediation in there right away, if not already. That's nice of her neighbor helping with contacting someone who might help with that right away.  I'm sooo excited and happy about Iris having safely returned home to her Hellgate nest!!!  :-* :-* :-*  C'mon Finn!!!  :-* :-* :-*

Lisa, I'm glad your niece is okay after the severe weather there. That light pole crashing on a car there was too close for comfort! So glad no one was hit by it! You said it flooded there - do you mean she got water inside her place? I hope not!  LOL, on you needing to get a hobby to stay out of trouble!  :D

OG, love the throwback TV special clip with Andy, Ernie, and Danny! I don't remember that one specifically, but I am sure it played on the TV at my house, since all 3 of them sure were popular with their humor and entertaining storytelling.

BL, it hurts my heart that people don't follow warnings about avoiding, at all costs, any type of flooding. Such sad loss of life. Sad news of the deaths of the first responders. Also, I saw that some places are starting to fine people who purposefully go around barricades or take closed roads. I'm glad to hear that, and they should be stiff fines to get the point across.

Puff, glad you got the link to the Hellgate Osprey nest.

Lori, hi!   :) I hope you and your family are all safe from the storms and flooding and haven't had any damage.

Lani, I watched the 2nd half of the Houston v Florida game. What a nail-biter!! I was sort of pulling for Houston, for their coach, especially. LOL on SSTrig chick discovering the cam!! LOL! Tap, tap, tap!!  :D :-* :-*

TSK, glad you got your walk in the other day. I saw The Masters' Practice Round was cancelled yesterday due to the severe weather, and the golf course was evacuated. It looks like they will have nice weather for the rest of the tournament, though rain may be a factor on Friday, but hopefully without the severe part. Fingers crossed. I hope the big winds and driving rain didn't blow all the blooms away - it's such a pretty time of year at that course with all the blooming shrubs and trees.

KB, I loved that sheep that is from the Faroe Islands! I used to work with someone back in my systems and programming days who had a small farm outside of town, and he and his wife, an RN, were specially licensed to raise some heritage species of sheep and goats. I visited their farm a couple of times, and it was fun to see them. They got such great care.

Tig, I haven't been watching any tennis, but I check in on the news of some of the players from time to time. I probably won't start watching much tennis again till the French Open, which starts May 25th. I might check-in here or there on one or 2 of the warm-up tourneys before that major.

Waving to All! Take care, and have a good afternoon!  :)

There are watches and warnings and we had both of them yesterday. We also have the weather channel showing the debris fields following suspected tornadoes at any rate I plan to have all my pine trees removed as they caused too much damage if they are operating or break off and they dirty most of the time anyway things will look a lot different and I’m going to have to get used to it. Once that happens I can   Plant some gentle type trees in place of them. The way I’m going it sounds like I kinda live another 2025 years lol Olol.
Get a mattress this afternoon that will be delivered next Tuesday. I only hope that my sheets and mattress cover will fit over the face looks pretty sick to me anyway that was accomplished in good time. I have an eye appointment on Thursday and that’s it for the week except I guess I have to go buy some plants for the hanging basket and for the front porch I keep putting it off and actually didn’t have time today.
Lani the LB reports are so detailed it’s just incredible. The Rangers do a lot of work for their money and I hope their conversation is good. Thanks for posting the reports
Sophia what tree should I buy to replace the pine trees blah blah least I know you would say I should leave them up but I’ve seen too many of them falling down in this neighborhood that I don’t Want to take the chance!
Going to have some Popeyes chicken and red beans and rice for dinner. Sounds like something Lisa made buy!

Baz, firgg Just say the mattress I bought is made in Johnson City Tennessee so let your mom and sister know, and if she has a reason for me not to do this have her let you know it seemed quite comfortable in the price was good, and also had quite a number of features that sounded nice

karen - You enjoy that Popeye's.  That is exactly what I would get!   :D

tig - Busy day for you.

baz - Niece did not get water in her place, thank goodness. She is on higher ground at the back of the complex.  She said, the surrounding streets and parking lot to her complex was flooded from the heavy rains.

tsk:D there is lots of pretty Easter baskets on Pinterest.

Lani - Thanks for the Royal update.

Good Night, everyone

LANI   All seems well at the Royals castle.  Would have thought the chick would have weighed more considering the larger weighing scale.  But I remember the weight loss with previous families.

KB   Which is the lake you walk around with SSRL?  Particularly like that trolley ride around the lakes.

BAZI   You mentioned the beautiful flowers at the Masters brought to mind how I had heard that the bird sounds you hear are not real so I had to make sure that was true  "Yes, it's widely known and has been admitted by CBS that they "pipe in" or add recorded bird sounds during their Masters broadcasts to enhance the natural atmosphere, even though many people who attend the tournament observe very few actual birds on the grounds. "

TIG   Check off a good day all around.  ;D

KAREN   When we got a new mattress recently, they are much deeper and require special sheets - Got some nice ones on Amazon and not that expensive.   If there was some way to recycle the pines it wouldn't be so bad.  Bet some carpenter or wood worker would love to get some of it.

I think the Sophia voice to text was to me. LOL.   :-*

Karen G like I have said before.
"It's just my Professional opinion and my 2 cents worth".  8)

I'll not throw my 2 cents worth at you ever again as it's your personal home owner/insurance decision.  And I respect that totally.

The eye of Helene went just West of Valdosta, GA as a Cat 2 strength hurricane on 09/27/2024.
The jury is still out on the exact winds in Valdosta.
That put Valdosta, GA on the "dirty bad side" of Helene's track.   :(

If Hurricane Helene last year left your pine trees standing and intact they're most likely NOT going to come down on your property anytime soon.
If Helene didn't snap or uproot your Pines from the saturated ground most likely they are healthy and very well rooted into your property's soil.

Just because many Pine trees in your neighborhood & area did come down IMHO doesn't really justify you ridding your property of the shade providing Pine tree benefits to your home in the south GA heat and humidity.

I've seen way too many times after a major storm a knee jerk reaction by homeowners to get rid of 'good' trees because the area's trees got clobbered.

It's like the World According to Garp when the plane crashes into the house as the Realtor is showing it to them.
We'll take it .. do you know what the odds of another plane hitting it are.  ;)

Pro tree:
• Future Curb appeal and Reality value of the said healthy trees. Who doesn't want a corner lot wit healthy Pines in south GA ?
• Wind shielding, protection and deflection to the house itself from future high wind events.
• Rain water absorption from the sandy soil of the property itself. Mature Trees suck up way more property water than you would think.
• Critter, good bug and Avian habitat loss. Again way more than one would think.
• The year round green shade and the air conditioning electric benefits associated with that shade to the roof of the abode.

Cons:
• Pine trees debris affecting landscaper cleanup costs.
• Pine trees debris clogging gutters and causing repetitive house damage.
• Possible house tree strike.

You absolutely cannot replant 40,60,80 foot tall native Lob Lolly Pine trees for any amount of money.
If 'we' cut them all down it will be generations if ever before they are ever there again.
A denuded of shade trees corner lot we cannot undo.

A decision I would think and sleep hard on before our un double chainsaws ripped.

Think of Helene like a better than free healthy tree inspection by a professional Arborist and a free thorough pruning courtesy of Mother Nature.

I'm just saying you can't undo a felled tree is all.  :)

Clynn, Beautiful morning flowers.... Did your mom find someone to help her with the wet carpet, etc... I hope the damage isn't expensive, as well as the cleanup.... Sauces Betty Lou is getting to be a big girl. So happy for this eagle family... Love Iris's full crop! She's been busy with nestoration today.... sweet Big Bear family.  :-*  .. Mike left for Houston this morning. He'll be back Thursday. Iris is on her perch tonight.. I checked Dunrovin's and the cam is not available.  :-\

Tsk, I thought Houston was going to win too. Like your china tea cups, I have Mike's grandparents and parents antique silver pieces as well as my collection. They've been boxed up since we lived in Kansas. I wonder what the girls will do with those when I'm gone... This is the time that both Albie parents slow down on their feedings, but so far SSTrig is being well taken care of by both parents. It's a cute fluffy busy body!  :-*

Lisa, Love your beautiful Easter Eggs.

{{{Phyl, Jim, Miss Maggie}}} love the tea pots and cups... praying you both are feeling better tonight.

Kb, Lake Harriet looks like a lovely place to visit.  :)

{{{Karen and Piper}}} glad you're okay after the storms.... When we bought new mattress, we had to buy new sheets. I agree with Tsk, I use to buy my sheets from JC Penneys, this last time I bought them from Amazon. Good prices, colors were spot on... Popeye's meal sounds delicious. YUM!

{{{Baz and Piper}}} I love the Masters Augusta golf course, absolutely gorgeous and pristine. Love the music too.

Good Morning Beakers!

Lani, yes, Mom has someone coming tomorrow I think. I will talk to her later today and find out what is going on... I feel bad, her and Dad had been fighting this for years, ever since the houses were built on the top of the hill behind them. Well, it is what it is, I will get her cheered up when I get there. She loves just driving places and has a few favorite places is way Southern Illinois or Western Indiana. Maybe we will venture into Northern Kentucky! Iris is on her perch right now, just looking around. Hope Finn shows up today! Praying for Mike and safe travels...  I am wondering what I am going to do with all of Mom's teacup/saucers, teapots and other china. I'll take pictures while I am there!  The Albie kids are almost grown up! They have the best caretakers!

karen, I had to chuckle at your 'sick' mattress!

BL, great tree analysis!

tsk, I had to get new sheets when I ordered our bed, because the mattresses are twin X-Long. A year or so ago I got the QuickZip sheets because it was a major ordeal changing sheets with the big thick mattresses and the two twins side by side! Liked them so much I ordered a second set of the tops, so all I have to do now is unzip and zip on a fresh sheet!

baz, you will have to find a new tennis boyfriend when you start watching in Paris!!

A Song for April

by Sir Charles George Douglas Roberts

List! list! The buds confer.
This noonday they've had news of her;
The south bank has had views of her;
The thorn shall exact his dues of her;
The willows adream
By the freshet stream
Shall ask what boon they choose of her.

Up! up! The world's astir;
The would-be green has word of her;
Root and germ have heard of her,
Coming to break
Their sleep and wake
Their hearts with every bird of her.

See! see! How swift concur
Sun, wind, and rain at the name of her,
A-wondering what became of her;
The fields flower at the flame of her;
The glad air sings
With dancing wings
And the silvery shrill acclaim of her.
