The eagle pair are hanging around the horse pasture trees this morning, too.  One tried to break off a dead stick from the Spooky branch.
Geese are squabbling over occupation of N1 [watch on rewind around 10:00].
And still no pips visible on the goose eggs at N2B as of 11:00 AM.  The male was on the nest with the female for a while around 8:00.  Hatch time muist be close.

Great pics, STL!

Loved all the eagle activity this morning.   :)

At N2B, the eggs appear un-pipped as MG covered them before leaving the nest for about 5 minutes around 9:30 AM.

The BE pair was back in the horse pasture tree this morning.  The male looked to be going on and out, and bring sticks for another starter nest in that tree. Hopefully, they are just waiting on the geese to vacate one of the ready-made nests.  :D

LIsa, I hope you are correct that this pair is going to take over N1 or N2B, but I'd be just as happy if they built a new nest in the horse pasture tree.

At N2B, MG rolled the eggs with some gusto this evening about 6:20 PM.  It's like she wouldn't mind cracking a shell or two or five!  But nothing yet.

She just so expertly camouflaged and thermal regulated her eggs.

Morning BE activity from the pair in the horse pasture tree, bringing in sticks and chasing each other for food.

It's great to have eagles in good camera range to watch this spring at Decorah.

At N2B, there's still nothing pippish happening with MG's 5 eggs.  Is it time to be concerned yet?

No goose pips visible at N2B at 2:00 [pic] or 3:00 this afternoon.  Darn!

I'm not sure what the deal is at N2B with the goose eggs.

The hatch watch began at N1 on 04/09/25 and the 1st goslings hatched on 04/13/25.
4 days "late" from when hatch watch began.

The hatch watch began at N2B on 04/18/25.
So as of today the eggs are 5 days "late" from when hatch watch began at N2B.
I suppose still within the "hatch window" ?

The only weather anomaly I can see is the precipitation amount at both nests in "the hatch window" days.   :-\
There has been way more rain here at N2B from 04/18 _ 04/23 - 2.65 inches VS N1 0.03 inches from 04/09 _ 04/13.
The weather data is from the nearby Decorah Muni Airport weather station about 1.8 miles due east from the nests.

I'm perplexed, too, BL.  In addition to all the info in your post, the laying span was long, with Egg #1 on March 18 and Egg #6 on March 26.  Average incubation is 25 to 28 days, and we are on Day 29 from when Egg #6 was laid.   So not giving up hope yet.  It seems unusual that NONE of the eggs would hatch.

Past posts would indicate how much time eggs were unincubated, especially during the laying period, and what the temperatures were then.

Yeah something is a little odd or different from N1 to N2B.
The span of days eggs were laid was the same from E1 to E6 at both nests coming in @ 8 days.

I wasn't sure about the average incubation period for goose eggs, so thanks for that info.  :) 25 to 28 days.

That puts the 1st laid egg at N2B at 37 days old.
I know MG can control - delay/extend the incubation period by being on or off of the goose eggs, but ..   ???

Lots of variables however_ new MG & FG, weather maybe, non viable eggs, MG didn't start the actual incubation period until later than thought _ etc _ etc ...

I guess the saying trust the geese is in order.   ;D    ;)

The two geese are definitely different, I have noticed.

Based on N1MG's eggs hatching it seems like she may have started her incubation period after the 4th egg was laid.  If you count from 3/14 to 4/12 (first seen pip) that is 29 days.

I think today will be the 29th day for N2BMG's 6th laid egg, if she didn't start incubating till that last one was laid.  Also, one egg had broke of N2BMG's so not sure, which of her 6 had broke, as it didn't break till after all were laid.
