Heads up:

Interesting that local industrial sites can cause this in our neck of the woods:

This morning, a hyper-local snowfall in the Shakopee area and northern Scott County resulted in slick conditions on County Road 101 and US-169.— in Shakopee, MN.
This likely came from the industrial facilities in the area, which seeded the clouds and caused the localized enhanced snowfall!
Additional information on the "cloud seeding" part mentioned above. By definition, cloud seeding is the modification of weather to increase the cloud's ability to produce rain or snow, which is precisely what caused this localized event.
ALL precipitation begins with condensation nuclei. These tiny particles in the atmosphere allow water vapor to condense, forming water and ice particles, which then fall as rain or snow, depending on the atmosphere's temperature profile.
Industrial facilities, for example, emit an abundance of tiny particles [pollutants] that can help enhance precipitation [cloud seed]. This morning's very low cloud deck and the cold temperature profile were the perfect recipe for this enhanced moisture in the clouds to fall as snow in this very localized area.

tsk - It is Vienna sausages inside the jelled spaghetti-O's mold.  ;D

clynn - Yes, a very clever way to get out of cooking.  Inside joke, one of my BIL's is the ice person.   ;D  I would be skinny as a rail if I had to eat that on Weight Watchers!

tig - Glad you had enough charge left to transfer your stuff to drive.

oldguy - Thanks for the videos.  We are supposed to be in the mid to upper 20's next week...cold snap coming!

Happy Thanksgiving Eve, Beakers!  ;D

O law... I have a week of posts to catch up on! I'll get there... eventually! LOL.

I took Zippo to the vet last Friday - she was having respiratory issues. I'm giving her liquid antibiotics via syringe (no needle, natch) twice a day for 14 days.  :o Six days down as of tonight, and 8 to go. I hope my fingers survive  ::) ::) Holding a struggling-to-get-away parrot, who has a sharp beak and toenails, with one hand, while using the other hand to hold a loaded syringe with the plunger ready to go while trying to use the same hand to pry open her beak and get the syringe all the way past her tongue directly to the back at the throat and then plunge the yucky tasting medicine in before she manages to shake her head away to get it out of her mouth has been the kind of comedy that no one should want to be part of. Hiding it in her food was a total fail. The stuff tastes nasty, and she says her mama didn't raise no fool parrot!! Nuff said!

I'm not sure how much it has helped, but she's no worse and maybe a tad better. The good news is she isn't acting like a sick bird - she's eating normally, playing regularly with her "stuff," standing tall, not acting or appearing weak at all, and is physically and vocally interactive as she usually is. I couldn't get in to see her regular vet, who is very knowledgeable and experienced with birds, and very few vets here even see birds, and even fewer are as knowledgeable or experienced as I would like. But one of the vets they said I could try, who practices in a nearby beach town and treats birds and reptiles in addition to the usual cats and dogs and such, agreed to see Zippo and me the day after I called her office last Thursday. So we went to her small practice on Friday for that appointment, of course, and I was glad to get Zippo seen there. My regular vet couldn't see Zip till maybe, just maybe, right after Thanksgiving, as a possible fit-in, which would be way way too long to wait for a bird, and then that vet would be gone for 5 weeks!! The only other vet around here that my vet's office told me treats birds was also not able to see Zip till after Thanksgiving.

So, I've been spending extra time observing Zippo for tiny hints and signs of illness, injury, or other issues - you all know birds are famous for hiding illness or injury, as a survival behavior, to avoid appearing weak, which makes them more vulnerable to attack or being preyed upon. By the time they are so sick they can no longer hide their problem, it is sometimes way down the line too far to get them well again. So I'm glad that so far, she is no worse, maybe a bit better, and we will see how things go. Meanwhile, Zippo is loving the extra attention and treats. So fingers crossed that she will recover by the time the course of antibiotics is done.  :)

Zippo and I will spend Thanksgiving Day at my place. I decided to do a pork roast. I'm going to make succotash, and I'm cooking sweet potatoes tonight to prep for tomorrow. Zippo loves sweet potatoes, so I will keep some cooked sweet potato separate for her from the ones I will make for me. I'm going to make mashed sweet potatoes tomorrow, with all the yummy add-ins of butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, and half and half... maybe I'll top them off with some marshmallow, but not sure yet. Even though I'm doing a pork roast with lots of onions in the roasting pan, I have to have dressing and turkey gravy! LOL! So I'm going to do a bit like some other Beakers, and make Stovetop Turkey Dressing, add some extras to it, and make turkey gravy for that. LOL. I can't wait - I love all that stuff, and rarely eat any of it except at holidays. Mmm...  :D

Otherwise, I have been busier than usual, and some days I have not even turned on my PC or checked email. I have been getting in good walks most days, too. So I have a lot to catch up on with everyone in The Beak!  I hope all are doing well!  :)

Meanwhile...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!  :) :-*

OLDGUY   Good grief!  I'll go along with YUK!

TIG   I would really need an adult beverage after that Chromebook ordeal ( hope they gave you a good price on it.)  and Driver and Vehicle service mistake.

CLYNN    I guess if it weren't true I would take that 70s Weight Watchers recipes as a joke! Who would eat that stuff?

BAZI   Hard enough to give a cat a pill/syringe.  Can't imagine - altho you gave a very vivid description of doing it - giving syringe to a wriggly parrot!  Hope it continues to work for sweet Zippo. :-*   Wish our pets didn't get sick when our vets were inaccessible.

The smell of these hearth, fireplace and wood stoves oh my

There are a lot somethings a cooking afoot

I already sucked down a turkey leg just for medicinal purposes.

It was perfectly seasoned succulent and fried to perfection in the vat °.

We were summarily berated by the yams.

And then they ate the turkey legs too .. omg.

All I heard was bring more wine,

Good Thanksgiving Morning Beakers!

Erin & Family are coming for their 2nd Thanksgiving Dinner at 5:30, so I have all day to get everything ready! I will make the French Coconut and Pecan pies this morning, and the Cranberry Fluff! The rest can wait until around 3:00!

Lani, Congrats to your sister on her new little one, she looks so sweet and perfect! I feel bad for Mike, especially when he was trying to help you like he always has. I am learning that it is not easy getting older and having limitations on what you can do. I will not drive at night or in the rain because it's hard enough without eye problems, and the arthritis in my hands and arms makes me be very careful about what I do! When I get groceries, I ask them not to make the bags heavy! But I can still play Pretty Pretty Princess with Bella! She wrote her Christmas list for me:

BL, where are you at for Thanksgiving? It sounds wonderful, wherever it is! Is there a man who doesn't love a turkey leg?

tsk, those were actual recipe cards from WW!!!  Gawd, they were awful, and what she writes about each one is hilarious!  How is Tim doing? It is scary to have to be so careful about what one does...

baz, oh my goodness! I so agree with tsk, it's hard enough to try to give a pill to a cat, I cannot imagine a big bird!  You are a good Mama for Zippo!  Even if she hates you for a few minutes! I hope the meds get her back to normal soon!  At least you got your walks in!

Lisa, I knew those were Vienna Sausages, an every day food from my childhood! I didn't care for them but my sister Cathy loved them! I would sneak mine under the table to her...

oldguy, hope you have a wonderful feast today, it sounds like it will be!

BL     Sounds like a perfect Thanksgiving meal and get together.

LANI   Bailey born just before Thanksgiving and what a bundle to be thankful for.  She is beautiful.  I remember when your niece had her first one.  I've forgotten her name  ???   Thank you for sharing that precious photo.  :)

CLYNN   I can't tell you how many Squishmallows I have bought.  Love her list.  Bella is looking more and more like Mom and Dad every day.  For Tim, yesterday was a good day - no falling or bleeding  LOLOL   Wright and Sullivan some of the best known architects ever.  You will have a busy fun day.  ;D

From MY house to YOURS, wishing you all a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Lani - Congrats to all on sweet precious Bailey!

BL - Sounds like your Thanksgiving has already begun.

baz - Prayers for Zippo!  Your Thanksgiving meal sounds yummy that you are preparing.

clynn - Love Bella's Christmas list...I noticed jewelry at the bottom.  What kind of jewelry does she want?  Your desserts sound yummy.  We are cheating this year, and bought a Marie Callendar's Apple Crumb Pie.  I baked it yesterday evening for today.  Not a fan of Vienna sausages either.  ;D ;D

tsk - Good to hear that it was a good day for Tim.

Puff, kb, tig, karen, and Phyl - Morning  :)
