CheeseQueen, it's easy to be confused about which camera is which!  There are maps with labels on the Decorah chat page.

The geese are nesting now at N1, which is labeled the Decorah Eagle Cam, and is near the horse barn and pasture, with the Y branch.

Decorah Goose Cam is at N2B, where no geese are laying eggs yet, but sometimes gets visitors.  N2B is closer to the Retention Pond, and this was the location of the 6 goslings last year.

It's very tender that the male goose is staying on the nest most of the time with the female.  Last year, the male was not as close by.  So interesting to watch and learn.

You have a point about swapping names, but I think it's too soon.  There's a pair of geese interested in N2B.  They have excavated a large bowl and this morning about 8:00 one was sitting on the bowl and the other on the Skywalk.

There's a 5th goose egg at N1 this morning, on view at about 10:30.  The geese are somewhat disturbed that HM is watching from the branches above the nest.

Lisa, thanks for the 5th egg time.  And don't you wonder what HM is thinking as she observes the geese at N1?  I guess this is where she comes when on a break from egg-sitting at the eagles' new nest that we can't see directly.

I am thinking that too, she must come to N1 for break from egg-sitting. 

I am hoping she brings the new kiddos over this way.

HD arrives above the cams with morning with sounding vocals, stays for a bit, and flew out (still had markings on tail).  HM arrives a short while later, stays for a bit, moves to another branch above, and flew out.  N1MG gets up, still 5 eggs.

Lisa, great pics!!  I had forgotten about the dark markings on HD's tail feathers.  Wonder if he will keep them as he gets older, do you know?

Several views of the 5 goose eggs, about once an hour this morning from 8:00 to 11:00.  MG might lay one more.  The gander (FG) has been with her on the nest most of the time.  Could be because of the presence of eagles nearby.  The male geese do not incubate eggs, but they are great guardians.

I am not as good with the spreadsheet info like BL, but I used a time and date calculator off the web to get these figures.  It gave me a round about hour.  Since geese lay eggs every 1.5 days, I wanted to see how close.  This is what I came up with.

Egg #1: 3/9/24 @6:22 PM CT
Egg #2: 3/11/24 @5:05PM CT
Egg #3: 3/13/24 @10:35AM CT
Egg #4: 3/15/24 @7:17AM CT
Egg #5: 3/16/24 @8:00PM CT

1st to 2nd was 46 hrs
2nd to 3rd was 41 hrs
3rd to 4th was 44 hrs
4th to 5th was 36 hrs

Hard to tell if she lays another one today, I guess we wait and see.  5 is a good number.
